Compliment….. I can’t put my finger on it…. Well that isn’t true… I can. I have to say the spirit of love, peace, kindness, goodness that exudes from your videos is so encouraging. You both shine a light into this dark world. The gracious way you both speak about and to each other is beautiful. You teach us so much more than gardening, homesteading, and farming, you give us so an unspoken example and teaching. May Father bless your home and land.

I used an old hose that was no longer usable, I cut sections 6" long, then split them down the middle, they are nice and tight fitting, they just slide on the side of anything even plumbers pipe. Iused them to hold shade cloth,I will use them for frost covers now. Love the re-use of something that was garbage. Plus! It will never rust or break

HI Sarah and Kevin. Yes farm work is hard work, but the fruits of your labor is worth it all. If you two keep all that going until my age (75) you will begin to realize as I do that you did yourselves well because your health will so much better. Honestly, I couldn't even begin to buy the quality of food that we eat. I am facing having to cut back a little at a time. I have a very messed up spine due to the drugs my Dr's gave me (Steroids) for MS for over 10 years. While you are doing all you are doing there you need to be looking ahead to make your old age easier for yourself. Jessie from Arkansas

Good morning Kevin, Sarah, and LT friends🌄☺🍁🍂 Your new garden setup is beautiful! With being in our 60's, we are looking at doing more raised beds.
Our frost date was 9.15. And the frost came almost a month late this year. The weather has been just plain weird. This has been two dry summers in a row for us.
I parted out my first whole hog by myself last week. And finished in one day! Made my first batch of Scrapple last night with all the bits of meat from the bones after making broth, and cooked the head too. Did the German version using oats instead of cornmeal. They traditionally call it Goetz(pronounced "gritz".) Made 15lbs of pork sausage using the same spice mix company you do(used mix #7), and loved it, so every bit of the pig is being used.
Now to get venison into the freezer! God bless and take care🦌🍁🍂

I was wondering if you were going to cover them. I actually use the woven ground cover in my beds and burnt holes in it as you did for your inground beds. It was awesome, hardly a weed! I used the cover and landscape staples in my bed. Will continue to do this again going forward. I feel the soil does not get as beat up from the sun and rain as much. My soil looks amazing. Next year i will pull back add ammendments and top off as needed. Thanks for sharing your journey.

If you ever do want to grow trees inside Waddlesville, you could make a 4 sided cage around them with pallets. A big Mennonite farm near here in NW Missouri does this in pastures where they have animals. I have read hundreds of pioneer memoirs and I remember in one of them, the family was planting hundreds of mulberry trees. I was so amazed. I believe they planted different types.

We drain our water sprinklers after we our done don’t have to take them out we connect air hoes to it and let the air compressor blow the excess water out and dry the pipe out then put foam grips that goes around pipes then cap ends off to keep real small animals like bee’s an wasp exc . We let the air compressor run for about 1 or 2 hours to dry pipes . Saves us for next year to drag all the hoses back out get them in line. When we already have them set right beside the above ground beds already . .Love those big veggie beds awesome. You planning to put another big green house over the big tubs?

I have seen y’all come from your one milking cow and I can’t remember her name right now but yes. Been watching. I think y’all are amazing at what you’re doing! It’s been at least 4 years I have been watching you. So I wanted to say thank you for all your videos and y’all used to cook in the kitchen a lot. I remember the bread and pizza dough and canning etc. loved every bit. Can y’all do more of that too? Not wanting you to go out of what your ability is. But those videos were great. The cooking ones. Your one grown things and foods you made with them for the family. I know your kids were younger and your priorities were meals for your family. But I loved it. Now they are almost all grown. My daughter just went to college and I am the empty nester too. But right with you there. I just don’t have a farm so love watching yours. I am a respiratory therapist. Won’t ever have a farm. But we have tried the huge buckets or pots for tomatoes and next year trying potatoes. Thank you because you have given hope to many families!!

Good solution for weed seed problem. I have a small backyard container garden, now taken down. I stack my containers and put newspaper around any exposed soil. Just a suggestion
I would use an oscillator sprinkler.
2 or 3 spaced would shoot all the way across your raised beds.
Better than the back and forth weave sprinkler.
It all depends on your water pressure.
    We enjoy your videos.

I have used the large size binder clips in my garden for about 6 years. They clip easily to the pvc pipe and garden stakes to hold either shade cloth or plastic covers. Some are rusted and scrody but still work great. You can roast up some of those red peppers and tomatoes and make a batch of delicious roasted tomato and red pepper soup then freeze dry it. The flavor is amazing.

Mulberries bring back memories from childhood. My sister had silkworms that lived under her bed as everyone knows they eat mulberry leaves. Well she lost interest in them and stopped feeding them and the smell was disgusting. Poor things. I am still amazed that mum actually allowed them in the house. The greenhouse looks fantastic. We are so lucky in South East Queensland Australia being able to grow produce all year round in our gardens outdoors. I have a greenhouse but a tiny one 14ft by 8 ft. We are heading for long hot dry summer, I am very grateful for two 5000 litre tanks full of water for my gardens.

Ahhh the binder clips - I use those things for all kinds of projects. That's what holds the plastic sheet on the gable end of my plant house (6'x6') to the roof tarp and it withstood some 60-70 mph wind last December here in Burlington VT. I'm enjoying your growing-in-pots project and I have had some success - this summer was the first I've tried growing from seeds and I had pretty good tomato success.. I also grew 5 tiny tomato plants and they are still making Pea size tomatoes. They are quite good - like little juicy jewels on a salad. They were Baker Creek spoon tomatoes. You guys have been such a help with my attempts to grow things.

Persimmons are SPOONS! Haven't seen wooly worms yet, nor wild rabbits - I find those signs from the animals are so accurate indications.
I am a born Missourian, and I often disagree with how ppl say "here the weather is..." Because in the past I have seen it so extreme. 1973, 1978, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981 we had record blizzards. LMBO, of course I was stuck having babies 2 of those years.
You 2 have had wonderful harvests for everything except potatoes. I'm a lazy farmer & my potatoes always flourished, maybe that's what they like.

I also use binder clips on my raised beds. I use when using bug nets and old sheets for frost protection. I also use driveway stakes to hold them up over the plants. The binder clips attach to those round stakes perfectly.

You should go to Harbor Freight and get some cheap ratchet straps to place around your raised beds to hold the fabric. I did this on my IBC totes I use for rain catchment.

I use binder clips for trellises and Greenstalk. Kale is created to grow to weave cucumber plants.

I just put a nice thick layer of grass and/or leaves on my raised beds for the winter; no spring weeds and the worm castings have fed the soil.
