Great get together folks!!! Thanks Joanie and Dean for sharing with everything looked great , now I have to go back through your site to find some of the recipes. Catch you on the next one again. Fred
Setting here today on the edge of a cold front and freezing temps and everyone of those dishes would be heaventonight. Thanks for sharing again Dean and Joanie , you all are still doing great. Fred.
Hey Fred, We just returned from South Dakota. Weather was warm until the last two days of our stay. The windchill brought negative temps. Joanie advised me to buy some gloves before the trip... I scoffed and said "I'm Norwegian, I don't need any gloves"... She was right, I was wrong.
@@outdoorcastironcook uh huh you didn't listen to the Preacher when he talked at the end of the sermon. I think it went something like "I now pronounce you Husband and ALWAYS RIGHT" Fred. lol
Thank you girl and the Frog crawler for taking the time to film, edit and post these vids of which i have watched a bunch of. I'm new to Cast Iron but like anything I get into I dive head first. 3 months ago I had zero cast iron and now have a vintage dutch oven I got for $10... A super cute #3 skillet for $5... an amazing Griswold #7 for free...a flat circular skillet, also a Griswold for free...a square square lodge grill pan of which I LOVE for $10...and I bought a new Casserole dish from an epic hardware store, again lodge brand for $14. All my cast iron of been thoroughly cleaned and passionately re-seasoned. Honestly I feel I could now just give away my all-clad williams-Sonoma stainless set. And that is all because of wonderful people like you that I randomly stumbled onto because of UA-cam. PS:LOVE your tear drop too ;-)
Johnny, sounds like you've got Cast Iron Fever....quick, throw something in to your #3 to cure this!! :) And I gave away my almost new Pampered Chef set of cookware ($400 ) to a friend cuz I was always returning back to using my cast iron when I was cooking. Thanks for your kind & encouraging words. Dean the Fogcrawler & Joanie The Teardrop Nanny
Yes, that is one spectacular fireplace. We love the huge pavillion to cook under, and we get access to an industrial size indoor kitchen to use as well! Joanie OCIC
I love this! The guy using the old grill came in handy for me. My gas grill just died and was trying to find a use for the outer shell...it will be my new dutch oven cook-place. Wonderful idea.
It would be so cool to have a dutch oven club near by. I just got my first DO, a 10 inch Lodge, and I'm awaiting a 14 inch Lodge to hold me over until I can get my hands on a couple of MACAs.
We really enjoy our local club, more so now than ever because the Shelter in Place order has put a lid on it for the time being... Looking so forward to meeting up with everyone again.
@@outdoorcastironcook Covid has really made my family (in three counties) get into food. I've since exploded my cast iron holdings and I got some clay pots for tagines and my famous curry recipe (which I think has been best handled by the DO so far). I want to get a 12x16x9 Maca for brined turkeys at Thanksgiving. Just want to get the family back together to share all this with. Come on vaccine!
Great looking grinds....wow! What is the song you use as an intro and do you know who performs it? It absolutely was perfect for your video - loved it, thanks.
My choice would be a camp oven.... The one with legs and a raised ash lip on the lid. A dutch oven... The one with a flat bottom, without legs and a somewhat domed lid, are more for indoor use. And here's why... It's way easier to cook indoors with a camp oven, than outdoors with a dutch oven.
J wiggins Thanks for the great feedback! I will have to see what we can "whip up", but in the meantime, check out some of our cooking channel videos on potatoes. Joanie
+Joe Sanders Thanks, Joe. Our Group of cooks is doing a big one this weekend featuring turkey, ham, and an assortment of breads and side dishes. Some new recipe will be coming up soon as a result of this. OCIC
Awesome and thanks for checking in. Thank her for us when you see/talk to her again. She will be featured in an upcoming webisode on abelskievers. Joanie OCIC
Great repurposing.....that member of our group just loads it up in the back of the pick up to cook on location. One in your backyard could be real handy for cast iron cooking. Joanie OCIC

We also marvel at the ingenuity of folks who cook outdoors. I think we are some of the best recyclers/repurposing items for another use. Joanie
Still looks good. Thanks again Dean and Joanie. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
Our pleasure! OCIC

Thanks for sharing, your videos inspired me to purchase a Dutch Oven. In your opinion which one is better the flat bottom or the one with legs?

I really did enjoy that video thanks
Thanks, Aaron.
