Thank you for sharing vital knowledge with us. without knowing these reduced forms learning English is tough. Hope you make more detailed videos on PARTICIPLE, GERUND AND INFINITIVE with its reduced as well as passive form. Waiting for your positive response!!!
Thanks heaps for such a professionally useful lesson. I have an enquiry though: In the example sentence:" Because they were out of time, they had to finish the project next week", is using the time marker( next week ) OK? I mean wouldn't it be better if we used( the week after or the following week ) ??? Thanks in advance🌺🌺🌺
@@WritingBetter Thanks again, ma'am. I thought that we couldn't use the time expression( next week ) when handling a sentence in the PAST tense. But since you said it was OK, I could start using it form now on. Thank you so much, and have a nice day ahead🌺
Hello, Are these also examples of the reduced adverb clauses? 1) I won't go there until I reach my destination. The reduced form is 2)I won't go there until reaching my destination. 3) Stay here until called. 4)Stay here until you are called. 5) He explained the story to me as if he had known a lot. 6) He explained the story to me as if having known a lot. I hope they are all correct grammatically.😊
The first two sentences are incorrect as you have not used the past tense in the sentence. The last sentence is using the phrase “as if” which is different from “as”. These sentences are better examples: He explained the story to me me as he had heard it before. He explained the story to me, having heard it before.

Yes, you could certainly use either of those!

It might have been better if I had written:
Because they were out of time, they had to finish the project the next week.
I hope that helps. 😊
