Since many people here proved that the letters in the end translate to exorcism, and Pico in the final artwork before the screen goes black seems to glow in Spirits colors, I think Spirit transferred himself into Pico like a parasite that will now break out from his victim again
but things are still either going to end well or dire, if Spirit is going as a neutral party he could try to kill both Pico and Darnell, if he's on Darnell's side they could free Pico, but if he's going to help Pico, Darnell is done
