That wasn't a real PCT, that was a big WTF! 0 safety, 0 respect for equipment, 0 skills at selecting what to cut. In my crew such guys would be fired immediately.
All green horn .I used a STIHL 550 FS .with proper directional felling all your trees should be laying one one way not in the cut line in the type of pine they are in I would average at least 1.2 Ha a day an that's working none stop 8hrs ,I would have short lunch an touch up the blade every gas up but getting it done. I won how much the pay was if they were by hecker or hour I was paid by the hecker that's why it was important to get shit done
At that speed they'd be making over 3,000 dollars a week for that density. At that quality they'd be passing quality inspection and getting paid. I was once inexperienced with the ways of saw work, and my boss took a picture of my low stumps, slapped me on the back and told me to never waste time on better then needed quality again. Mind you he still paid me 50 dollars more a hectare. Maybe it's because I'm stuuuuupid and he needed to show me that I'm being paid for a job that passes inspection. If everyone did a perfect job the rates would be higher, but the jobs slower, and the pay the same.
If I caught any of my guys working like that on my job site they’d be fired on the spot. If I came in to inspect my guys lots and they looked like that, they would be expected to go back in and clean it the fk up before I put my name on it and pay them for it. This is how you waste your time and not get paid. Bunch of fools.
Wow, sounds llike a good salary to me. Where do you work? Maybe Ill move there :D I do this job in Sweden and the most important things here are quality and speed. These gus have absolutely zero technique. Without directional felling the mess they make is slowing them down, so they dont get enough area coverage per day. Not to mention carrying fuel on their backs and using excessive force, where finesse shoud be applied instead. All of this is draining your stamina real fast. Also if you got the proper skill, a sharp blade, cool head and you know what you are doing, leaving nice low stumps does not cost you any extra time whatsoever. Counterintuitively, going steady at a constant pace is far more effective than rushing like a wild hog :D Stay safe and hydrated out there!
As a former silviculture working at JDirving in Canada this is total bull.. tree needs to be cut way lower at it also looks like there blades are dull 🤣🤣… there fired !!
I do pct and weeding. Its not so much like this. There fur trees and way denser way more dangerous.. i get stung by hornets alot ive had basket ball hornets nest land on my feet
