This is so useful to watch with the English subtitles. I've been studying Hebrew for about a month now and couldn't understand more than a few words without subtitles. But with subtitles it's doable. Plus the topics you talk about are nicer than the textbook stuff about buying stuff in the supermarket and such. You talk about learning languages!

I could understand a lot of what you were saying (would be cool if you had a version without English captions, you'd be helping a lot of other learners practice since as I'm sure you know, it's a lot harder to find Hebrew spoken a little slower but very useful!) but I've been isolated and not had much chance for actual conversation. I've been studying alone with some textbooks and DuoLingos new Hebrew course and Memrise as well. I wish Lang-8 worked better on mobile because I liked that too but only really have a tablet and cell phone. Anyway, I'm curious, you did Skype lessons and you mentioned you couldn't read in Hebrew (books at least) so was your focus more on speaking than reading and writing? I've been doing kind of the opposite for the time being because I've always followed Israeli news and politics online, very easy for me to fund places to engage with Hebrew reading and to some degree writing but ahh, I definitely need to work on finding people to speak with! Also, random tip I've heard, since you had a lot of pauses especially in the beginning, I've heard it pointed out that Hebrew natives say "eh" instead of "um" when thinking or looking for a word and practicing that can help you come off even more "native" I guess, maybe not the word I'm looking for but it can help with pronunciation and will add a little something extra to how you sound. Kind of works as a mental tip to your brain that you're in "Hebrew mode" now as well. Thanks for sharing this. It's inspired me to sit down and see how I'd do trying to talk more. I've only really recorded myself reading passages but having to just off the cuff try to speak would be interesting. I know that's my biggest weakness. Very cool to see how much progress you made so fast! Are you still studying Hebrew any since your challenge?

Carpediem2106 J'apprends avec le livre "Teach Yourself Hebrew", mais surtout avec des gens sur italki. Je leur parle et j'apprends tous les mots dont j'ai besoin pour me débrouiller.

loki2504 Oui, on n'écrit pas les voyelles. Pourtant je le trouve plus facile qu'en arabe, parce que la langue parlée est très proche à la langue écrite. De plus, beaucoup d'israéliens ont de l'expérience à parler avec des gens de langue étrangère, ils savent parler de façon simple.
Sprachprofi C'est assez intéressant, j'avais entendu dire que les lettres en hébreux ne se "collent" pas comme en arabe et qu'il y avait des majuscules, chose qui n'existe pas en arabe. C'est vrai que les dialectes arabes s'éloignent fortement de la langue standard mais pas vraiment si tu te trouves dans le Levant (Palestine, Jordanie etc). Est-ce que tu vas poursuivre ton apprentissage de l'hébreu?
loki2504 Il n'y pas de lettres collées et pas de majuscules, seulement quelques formes finales, mais pas pour toutes les lettres. Je me suis promis d'étudier l'hébreu jusqu'au niveau B1 au moins, après ça je déciderai le reste.
