They say “just put the kid up for adoption” like it’s so easy. 100k+ foster kids every year waiting to get adopted but are less favorable than a fresh baby with no family ties. On top of adoptions are not all “free” adoptee parents in agencies are vetted out and then pay and sign papers etc. Foster homes are scarce and research shows adoption agency’s are more favorable.

Calling a clump of cells a ‘child’ is a falsehood; and one that helps infiltrates the misinformation, lies, and propaganda that the pro-forced-birth movement is pushing.
Those who are forcing people to carry a pregnancy and birth unwanted children are selfish. They obviously don’t care about the unwanted baby once born; and they certainly don’t care about those being forced to carry a pregnancy.

I had an abortion when I was a teenager, when I was incapable of and honestly unwilling to be a mother.
Now, twenty-five years later, I'm the mother of four very loved, very wanted children.
I was in an unstable and abusive relationship. Now I'm in a loving and healthy marriage.
I was in high school and would have had to drop out to have and raise the baby. Now I'm a college graduate with B.A.
I worked in the food service industry for minimum wage. Now I work for an educational software company and have a yearly household income of $107K.
My entire life would have changed for the worse of I'd been forced to have that baby. Abortion enabled me to work toward the life I wanted so that, when I did eventually have my four children, they and I are stable, happy, and healthy.

The objective should be to eliminate abortion not through force but by creating systems and expanding on them that will really help women care for their child on a mental, emotional, physical and financial level so they don't need to turn to abuse.
It means fixing Child Service and Foster care so children who end up in foster care are treated with love and kindness and dignity and respect they deserve. which is not the case at the moment. 38% of children in foster care are abused and neglected. Those just cases we know about or that CPS isn't turning a blind eye to. Even in the cases we're these kids aren't abused or neglected per say they are treated as a meal ticket and often times treated as if they don't belong any where. All of those things take a toll on kids and effects them and will most likely deeply impact them in a negative way. Which can then impact society.

@@Mr.Anonymous1987GS by that logic the world would likely never be repopulated with amount of "unplanned" pregnancies thatmake up our society today. In a perfect world that would happen. But, that's not the world is, nor is it the world has ever been. Even before roe was established. If you could only get pregnant if you were financially well off the working class would never have kids. Either way, you don't want an abortion don't get one. Don't want a woman you're sleeping with to have one, don't get her pregnant. Better yet keep it in your pants and eliminate the risk. But it's mighty easy to force someone to keep a child you don't have to carry, you don't have to feed, you don't have to take to the doctor, you don't have educate, don't have to protect, don't have to risk your life for simply by going into labor. Even if you did have that ability as a woman, you still wouldn't have the right to tell ANOTHER woman what to do. You're sitting on the sidelines. When that baby gets here you won't give a damn about what it will be born into. I'd actually believe pro life people were really concerned if the concern lasted past the smack the doctor gives the baby after it makes it out the womb. But, you don't. Where's all the uproar and plans for resources to help all these women that'll be forced to bring babies to term they didn't want. What physiological damage could be done with a mother caring for a child she didn't want to have but was forced to keep. I'm sure that'll be a healthy environment. Put them up for adoption you'll say. Yeah that's not a guaranteed solution either. Every child isn't going to get adopted. Some will go to bad homes, some will age out of the system at 18 and be thrown out onto the street because they're now adults. You gonna fake care about them then? You have no skin in the game so your opinion shouldn't matter for the person who is directly affected. There shouldn't be a group mandate on a personal decision.

One of the most important things to note [about the study] is that being denied an abortion affects so many aspects of peoples lives; the chance that they’re in a better relationship, the chance that they found a better job, they have more stable housing, and all of those together mean that people who are denied an abortion are less likely to have the circumstances later to have a *wanted* child. Those who receive abortions are more likely to go on and have a *wanted* child later. Under better circumstances.”

I think she should have pushed back on the idea that these laws are actually making exceptions for the life of the mother. Doctor Mama Jones has a good video on this, but essentially the fearful atmosphere discourages doctors from performing abortions under all but 100% certainty cases, and in those cases it may be too late because the woman can go from looking and sounding fine to dying in short order. That's not even to mention the government officials who have tried to play doctor and legislate what qualifies as a threat to the mother's life. For example, Republican lawmakers in Ohio tried to legislate that women with ectopic pregnancies couldn't get abortions because they wrongfully believed ectopic pregnancies can be reimplanted. The pro life movement as a whole is also not calling out their extreme members who don't believe there should be any exceptions for the mother's life. Doug Mastriano won the GOP primary race for governor in Pennsylvania. He's running on an all out abortion ban with no exceptions for the mother's life, and nobody in the pro life movement is calling him out on that. They all just go with it and then still try to claim they are protecting the mother's life.

It seems to me, if a female isn’t qualified to adopt a child, she shouldn’t be restricted from getting an abortion. If a 13 year old girl wanted to adopt a baby, she wouldn’t be allowed, because she isn’t “qualified” to care for a fragile tiny human being who would depend on her for its well-being, it’s safety, it’s nourishment, and would be unable to financially care for a baby. However, that very same girl is forced into what she clearly shouldn’t be, because she probably her first time was with a boy who said, you can’t get pregnant the first time you do it.
It’s really sad that our SCOTUS made a decision, not because it’s the best decision for our country or it’s people, but because they can! However, I guarantee, if one of their mistresses came up pregnant, I bet all I have, they would demand they get an abortion.
The double standard with which republicans operate is infuriating. Amid the pandemic, they protested, saying, “My body, my decision”, but it only pertains to them. It shouldn’t matter what you’ve decided, with regards to medicine, our government shouldn’t have the power to restrict me from my body.
Quite honestly, I think abortion clinics should be disguised as something else, or not be stand-alone buildings. So that just by being there, anyone who passes by or who can see the building at all and you walking in, people know your medical business. I feel as though that is a violation of your patient confidentiality.
If we can put a million songs on a watch, I know we can figure out how to keep girls/women safe while having a medical procedure that changes your life forever. Nobody who goes there is happy to be there, to begin with, but having to pass through a bunch of hypocrites makes it even worst. There’s nothing like approaching a huge “Choose Adoption” sign, being held by six ladies, none of which have adopted any children.
As soon as they’re born, they no longer matter. On top of that, this baby that’s been forced onto the planet has a 16 year old mom, who will now receive nonstop ridicule from the right, for needing government assistance. The whole premise is maddening. I wish people would just mind their OWN business and get their big, fat, judgmental nose out of other’s business. If people minded ONLY their own business, they wouldn’t have time to mind mine!!!! Sorry so long, this topic just fires me up.

We chose to have an abortion because our baby was diagnosed with a severe skeletal dysplasia on the 21 week ultrasound. She had a severely small rib cage and lungs and would have been unable to breathe if carried on to term. This was a late term abortion but the alternative of delivering a baby for her to suffocate to death was worse.

It's pro-life organizations that DO CARE about the woman - before and after her baby is born. It's abortuaries that don't care about women who want to keep their babies. Pregnancy resource centers are places that help women (most of whom want to keep their babies). Some provide financial assistance and many others provide assistance like helping a woman find a job (or better job), find more affordable housing, giving them items for the baby (before and after birth) and helping them sign up for benefits they may not have known they were eligible for.

So let’s think about the argument of putting a baby up for adoption after it’s born when abortion wasn’t available. That child will grow up in the adoption system, which is infamously renowned for being very poor and producing very unstable and unhappy adults. Most Americans are very ignorant and uneducated and don’t understand the important reasons why someone would choose to get an abortion. Why it’s so necessary, why it’s not a fickle thing. It’s a human right to keep abortions legal in the USA.

Dasha Rae is an amazing young mother. She is smart, strong, and has a maturity about her that people twice her age don’t possess. Her son will be a happy kid. I pray she gets all the resources she needs to make that happen. I remember being overwhelmed as a young mother. I was homeless for a short while before I got on public housing. I was not in the same predicament as this young mom. Mine was easier. Both of my kids are now grown and I will have to say they are pretty damn amazing too. I did get my Bachelors while they were young, so I was fortunate. I hope Dasha Rae considers getting a degree. She is too bright not to consider it. God bless her and Arias.

I see something even more poetic. consider how women with resources will be able to access abortions, but low income women will not. Who are these women without the resources? Minorities mostly.. and they will be having babies, minority babies. So in a very literal sense, republicans are fueling the great replacement they fear so much, and are just accelerating the inevitable demographic shift. Cant say I have much sympathy.

As a woman who's had to have a baby at the age of 20 in the US (GA) where I did not have healthcare, I can say that monetarily that birth set me behind a decade, and had to forgo my education as well as remain a stay-at-home mom as we couldn't even afford formula. Births are expensive! 40k in my case for a healthy baby. There's no way I could imagine going through with a pregnancy then giving up a part of myself.
Forced births are only going to force more people into poverty. Religion leading the world in 2022 is so damn toxic... I'm worried for my 13yo daughter whos body is not her own anymore. Worried for the women suffering from ectopic pregnancies, or birth defects, having to go through the trauma of labor, possible complication and deaths. Or... Illegal abortion... Sad times for America.

So you just tell your little girl "you should be able to be as promiscuous as your little heart desires, if you get pregnant you can always just get an abortion!"
Stop using the phrase "forced births". Depending on where you are, between 93 and 95% of the time, women weren't "forced" into anything. It's not like you went to a party, had a bunch of fun, then someone forced you to bear and raise a child. There was a deliberate act involved.

Texas does little to love and support mothers. Our schools need help. We didn't expand Medicaid. We aren't winning any awards for reducing teen pregnancy or reducing the high school dropout rate. Housing affordability is becoming a challenge. And, should you desire electricity, we aren't doing a great job with that either. Words are easy. Actions are much harder.
