Super Cheap Miniatures The Path

- What is your best option for super cheap miniatures? I take a look at a very inexpensive set by Path Miniatures. They were just a dollar each off of Amazon. They are simple fun models and I paint them all up and take a close look at them.
Most if not all of the rougher simpler sculpts are 3D print files from a guy that goes by MZ4250.
He's a legend in the RPG 3D printing community as he made all class/race/gender combos, all monsters from the monster manuals, then proceeded to the expansions, and releases them all for free. Those sculpts are from yeeeaars ago, when he was a beginner in 3d sculpting and have remade versions with his improved current skill set.
They probably printed them and then made molds to cast the minis a bunch of times. The extreme lack of detail on some of those faces is probably due to either being originally printed in a fillament printer (although I would expect a lot more layer lines) or perhaps wear and tear on the molds.
As for the more detailed minis on the set, I don't recognize all of them, but there might be some of his creations among them too
@@619Slipk wow, thank you for all that background information on the sculptor. It is very much appreciated.
Small payment to a James bond villain, that made me laugh to much 😂
@@blackdicegamingltd I call’em like I see them.
I do appreciate that that they chose to make a variety of women characters wearing actual clothes! I wish they were higher quality prints though. You did great work with all the paint jobs!
Love the sea/plant monster and very nice that they took the trouble to reverse the hands on the rakshasa - very lore-accurate for such cheap minis!
@@sebastiantredinnick5060 I agree
Cool minis at a good price too
I like them, and the paint jobs are great.
@@RIVERSRPGChannel thanks Rivers
Huh, one of the players in my D&D group uses that gnome artificer, we got it as a 3D print. I'm guessing this company buys simple sculpts and recasts them in basic plastic?
@@matthewprothero5877 that appears to be the case.
There are so many models here. I can see why this particular video took a month since it was first announced.
Congratulations on adding 50 miniatures to your finished pile.
@@demetrinight5924 thanks
Nice collection! The animalfolk are pretty decent - the wereboar is my favorite.
Have you got your hands on any Next Level Miniatures? They're as cheap as Reaper USED to be, with pretty good detail and an interesting selection.
@@manjr no, I am unfamiliar with next level miniatures. I will have to look into them.
A really nice variety. As cheap as they are, the detail isn't really that bad. I'm definitely going to have to add an order of these to my collection. If I really don't like how some of them look (detail wise) I can just easily turn them into statues
@@dirtybasementterrain yes the details aren’t to bad
Far from the best minis out there, but I think you've done very well with them considering!
@@EnDungeoned thank you Mort.
Oh I just realize I’m in a facebook group with you
Very cool
@@houstonhall1144 it is fun
Awesome!!!!!
@@sockpuppetentvideogameplay3215 I am glad you enjoyed
Uncle Lu looks like he’s from the real world and he got isekai'd! He looks like a Texan! Where’s my got dang broomstick!
@@ernestorodriguez3637 😆😆
Can't beat that price! Especially for filler minis.
@@jimmd68 it is a great price
Great for NPC or additions to a group of monsters ect. The Kobold rider is my favorite 😎 A great value 💵
@@RonaldLivingston-n2d I think so too.
my best option is my friend with a printer!
@@doughargis9626 an excellent option if you are so lucky.
Okay...: When I look at this ones (and grab the few Wizkids-Prepainted ones here for Comparison): Did someone in China just steal a few Tools from the fullfilmend-Partner?
@@OrakelofDeathyup, these are not original miniatures. They seem to be just different enough.
14:25 I think the monster is a D&D vine blight, it looks a lot like the 5e art.
@@DungeonMarcio I was really wondering what it was. I guess I should have painted it green.
@@MonsterPainter well It looks creepy af in flesh tones haha
Luckily, the dwarf didn't have to get a taste of those lucky charms. I've had some luck with Aliexpress with board game pieces being sold separately since they are first cast models, those the rejects. I got a lot of the new Heroquest figures for about 1-3 USD apiece.
@@danielpalama3700 I have seen those. Very tempting.
I think super-cheap minis can often include some good monsters (e.g. the yeti & mimic), but the humans/near-humans are usually so terrible I would rather spend my time painting better figures.
@@sebastiantredinnick5060 a very reasonable decision.
