- The War of the Elves and Sauron was a great conflict that had major consequences for the rest of the Second Age. Desiring to govern the Elven Lords, the Dark Lord Sauron secretly took a fair shape and presented himself as Annatar, the Lord of Gifts. Under Annatar’s guidance, the Rings of Power were created, but Sauron had in secret a master plan, and he forged the One Ring in order to dominate the wearers of the lesser rings. But the Elven Lords saw through Annatar’s disguise, and the War of the Elves and Sauron broke out. Will Celebrimbor and the master-smiths of the Gwaith-i-Mírdain prevail, or will Sauron conquer the Elves and the rest of Middle-Earth?

Shouldnt the losses be so high that the next war would be utterly hopeless to be considered a phyrric victory? Because that wasnt the case here when I remember the book correctly. The elves were still powerful, even more so the Numenorians.

These Numenoreans always turn the tides of battle ... with the description of tall and great.
At 7 feet tall each with a lifespan of 200(400 kings) these are indeed a sight to behold.
These are the greatest mankind has to offer.
Indeed! Average lifespan of 220 to be exact! The Kings had even longer (Elros became 500, that's pretty insane)

@Lore of the Rings perfect summary. 7:23 this is extremely important, and often underappreciated. Sauron's hatred for Khazad-Dûm had horrible consequences that nearly destroyed the Dwarves in the 3rd Age. Not to mention Durin's Bane, the Balrog, which became the Dwarrowdelf's fate.
True! Very good point! Very little is this mentioned.
What effect did Sauron have over the dwarves of Khazad-Dûm? The Balrog was not under Sauron's command. Were the orcs/goblins of Khazad-Dûm Sauron's or independent? The War of the Dwarves and Orcs has no mention of Sauron being involved.
@@aleksander8497 I didn't say the Balrog was under the command of Sauron. Once it was unearthed, Moria was overrun by the Orcs, twice mind you, for no other reason than Sauron's hatred. Remember, Sauron was also the Necromancer at the Hill of Sorcery, in the Third Age. I hope that clarifies my earlier point.
At the 1:00 mark, the notation for Ered Luin may be off. I believe Ered Luin is the mountain range North of the 'Gulf of Luin' shown on the map.

From which game is the footage? It's been a while since I gamed a LotR-themed release and this looks a bit like a JRPG. I mean the game with the scenes where the Rings are made, not the fighting scenes (they look like two different ones, but I could be wrong).
Correct :) The forging scene is from The Shadow of Mordor game, whilst the fighting scenes are from Medieval II total war lotr mods :)

You know, I only recently started to watch LotR lore videos and was baffled by this artistic depictions of Sauron and even Morgoth where they look like elves, and sometimes very frail or girly :-D I needed to know where these pictures come from, because to me, it seemed very alien to draw Sauron like a Elf or Human...

Dci Last Alliance Mod for Medieval II total war
There is written so little what forces Sauron possess during his campaign against Eregion. Orcs, trolls and surely Warg riders were his main units. But did the Easterlings and Haradrim fought there as well? What other dark creatures did he use? I read in some fanpages people are saying maybe the remaining werewolves, wargs and giant bats.
Trolls; no. The olog-hai, the trolls that can endure the sun didnt exist yet. Orcs, Haradrim, Easterlings. I doubt werewolves and giant bats, but it is possible.
@@LoreOfTheRingsYT Oh but why not trolls? Even Morgoth used a lot of trolls in the past. Couldn't the trolls also be included as other dark\evil creatures?
@@Imperialistic82 Morgoth manipulated the weather most likely. I doubt Sauron did it in this instance, but nothing is for certain :)

One question, what happened with Lorien and the elves of the greenwood? I know that Lorien fought at eregion, but wasn't they besieged by Sauron?
Thank you! The Elves of Lórinand was never attacked because Sauron went at for Lindon. The Elves of the Greenwood were not involved :)
Sauron have the ring with himself and a large army. But swiftly defeated by The Numenor. Too great the difference between Numenor and other men as it takes 7 long years to defeat sauron in war of last alliance
the siege of Barad-dur prolonged the war of the Last Alliance ;)
This is the closest Sauron ever got to ruling the world.

@@SynnoftheDarkCloud I have played reforged before, and used to watch a lot of replays back in the days where you appeared! The units in reforged looks awesome, but I think they have too much plate-mail for my videos. I try to stay as consistent to the lore as possible (even though reforged units would look more epic in most instances). I am fan of reforged tho, awesome seeing you here Synn!

Would you be able to talk about the wars of the First Age, such as the Dagor-nuin-Giliath, Dagor Aglareb, Dagor Bragollach, Nirnaeth Arnoediad, the Fall of Gondolin and the War of Wrath. And perhaps the battles between the Iathrim of Doriath and Dwarves of Nogrod and the Kinslayings by Fëanor and his sons.

Most of the time I don't mind what they did with the lore for Shadow of Mordor/War, but what they did to Celebrimbor puts a bad taste in my mouth. In Tolkien's work, he was a man misled into helping Sauron, but he redeemed himself in the end by enduring horrific torture. In Shadow of War he's an insufferable, unlikeable dick, who only wants power for himself, and is constantly insulting and berating people.
They totally undermine his noble sacrifice to add a 'twist' to the story that anyone with half a brain would see coming.
The lore-break in that series was massive, but they have some nice cinematics :)
I really enjoyed that video, i love how numenor saved the elves. From this point on sauron would hate and fear the numenorians and their decendants until his fall.
The quality of this is amazing! Apparently Numenor at their height of power could match up with Sauron great host.

Excellent video! But I think you really need to work on your cadences.
You always finish your sentences with one of two cadences and it ends up sounding quite repetitive. Like an inexperienced news anchor or priest reading at the pulpit haha. Cadence is how you finish your sentences in terms of inflection and tone. If you watch the lotr movies and listen to their monologues, particularly Galadriel prologue, you can pick up lots of great variety in cadences. Hope this helps if you read it!

I learned a lot about cadence just by trying to mimic the long speeches in lotr as closely as I could, paying close attention to how they lilted from one sentence to another and to how they ended on a more conclusive note.

so basically sauron used to kick butt on the old map but now hes on the new map and having to fight waves of weaker units and upgraded old units at the same time while trying to expand his base ;)
