I'm a Versatube dealer and a couple of suggestions. I would install one 3' sheet from the eaves down the sides which will help with shade and shear the sides to take the sway out of the frame. The other thing would be to install soil anchors to secure the frame in case of high winds. The stakes only work to a point and then you may have lift off. Looks like you did a pretty good job. VT is always looking for installers.
Yes i wss going suggest anchor stakes also. A must if you get high winds there. Also a cheap way to increas the anchor strength is sandbags laid over the bottom plate. Looking good guys... 😉
I would recomened geting a EG4 Solar Hybrid mini-split AC. No inverter and batteries recommended. Just a few solar panels plugged directly into the mini split outdoor unit and you have ice cold AC. No generator or expensive components. Very easy to install.
If you're not already doing this, I would suggest you secure that to the ground so a high wind doesn't damage it. I used four cement sonatubes to secure mine. Awesome watching you guys and your family. Wish I would have been brave enough to do it 30 years ago.
Yes, it looked like Jag was pounding bolts down, I was wondering how far down the bolts went to anchor that against the wind. Excited for you all God bless
My first thought was “It will make a pretty AZ wind sail”. lol! Not sure what a sonatube is but sounds better than stakes. I’ve seen those fly even bolted to concrete. Great idea to shade the RV though.
Very hot in Arizona especially this year . The camper port is a must! Definitely will cut the heat big time. You knocked it out! Not easy but you did it!
That is beautiful and heavy duty... built to last. Your place is sure looking nice and the views ahhhhh... So very proud of you all. I laughed so hard when Jagg said if you and your Dad weren't helping, he'd work for an extra hour. Hahaha!!
Hi. Thought you might be interested in the video "We built our house in 4 days with foam" by Bisbone Ranch. They are in southern Arizona and found a great way to build a house for the desert.
The suggestion from @mikeknutson415 below is right on... when the monsoon season comes the strong winds that accompany it will blow away something like that unless you've anchored it SECURELY! Dig holes that are about 3 feet deep that are at least 12 inches wide that you can set some sort of anchors into and chain (or even ratchet strap) that bad boy in place or you'll more than likely see that lovely structure blown away and damaged in the process.
It may be something that you just haven't done yet, but I would suggest plugging the ends of the open purlins so wasps and other pests don't make a home in them.
Very cool stuff, and nice work! I would suggest, and I am sure you already know this or have heard over and over, to put in some form of side bracing (I would actually do a few sheets of metal roofing on the sides as it’ll help with extra shading when the sun is lower and also help with the side to side movement. I would also probably put in some extra ground stakes (I would use a typical tent style placed on the sides using strong wire rope connecting to rods/heavy stakes that you hammer into the ground on an angle (but pulled away from the structure like you do with a tent). It helps with wind and such and counterbalances things. Anyways, either way really nice stuff. I am glad you are progressing and I can’t wait to continue to see you grow!!!
I love your sun hat, I need that for gardening in southern California. I was very happy for that the car port is going up, which will protect you during the hot summer days.I am cheering you on for all your hard work and pushing forward in the heat.
Looks great, nice work! Could you catch the rainwater from the top, or are there not enough storms? I'm from a pretty rainy city, so not familiar with your area beyond some sightseeing trips. I agree cinder blocks of some sort for an anchor like Billy mentioned.
Love your hat but, when it turns really hot you need shade on your brain. A doctor/ scientist once told his daughter( my friend) that brain temperature is critical. A full hat protects from harmfully high brain temps. I was fascinated by this input. You might be too.💕

Please consider andyyellis's tips, they make pretty good sense.

I would suggest digging six 3-ft deep holes on each outside with rebar and chain that thing down first. Big win. It's going to fly
I think a camper port is the smartest idea anyone can do. I would love to have a stationary motor home somewhere permanent under a port!

Omg I’m so glad I found this comment. I’m going to look into this.

The heat is no joke. Almost 100 degrees in Florida yesterday.
I bet it gets pretty humid there too!
What about a grounding the frame, so if the metal roof gets hit by lightening it won't fry your living quarters? But I am not a electrician.

What an adventure! ❤
I like you positive attitude.
I hope there's tie downs on that camper cover. 😊
Where did you purchase the camper port Kit?

How long before you get power from that power pole , shouldn’t be to expensive, good luck.
Awesome work❤😊
WOW ! CONGRADULATIONS !!! WELL DONE !
Great job!!! looks great. worried about the wind when the monsoons hit...whats holding that into the ground?? Love the video's
Yaaaayyyyy. Monsoon officially starts June 15. Hope cover locks down tight to the ground.
Onward!
I cannot even imagine ... I live in NW Montana and am hot at 75F :) Happy that all was accomplished.

Thanks I’ll tell Jagg to grab the ladder

Great team work!! The young homesteaders you have on board will certainly develop a solid work ethic. ~tyfs~!
Thanks!!
Getting so excited for you. Hate that I have to wait another week for your next video
Looks great guys. Where did ya pick that up at?
