I mean, it's not like it's a picture of Mickey Mouse himself. It's just three circles. Those could represent anything! Alternatively: Disney's fee for using the keychain was already so high that they couldn't afford to license the characters' likenesses on top of that.
It's because donald and goofy aren't originally from a video game, whereas the Mickey symbol is not a character itself, it's just a keychain so it is allowed in.

Yeah, I REALLY wanted the Doomguy, but as with Sans its really a miracle we got anything at all. I don't think Im mad he didn't get in, Im annoyed the KH fans are happy lol
The final character being an original Smash character would be so good. Weird, but good. That said, I'm happy Sora got in. Just feels right overall to have a character born from a crossover to be in the Ultimate crossover.
When you said, "...Why's ROB there?", I laughed so hard. Also, the symbolism of the trailer itself is what makes me emotional. The Smash logo represents the spark of creativity and imagination that a child has with toys since the Smash fighters are canonically supposed to be toys being played by a kid. The fire is what gives them life, hence when the logo dissipated due to no more fighters being added, they all reverted back to figurines. However, a key to unlocking the imagination once more fell from the flaming logo, and its glimmer was enough to reawaken Mario, who picked up the blade and it unlocked the one character that was the KEY to so many people's childhoods. That trailer wasn't just a fighter trailer, it was a symbolic trailer for Smash's lore. That's why it boggles me how almost everyone was jumping to Tabuu, Masterhand, Dark Souls knight and even freaking Cinderace because "Oh, there's fire in the darkness and they're all trophies."
That would also explain why it was kh1 Sora who came through the portal. Kh1's story was about a group of children learning about the outside world as they are getting older. If any version of Sora was going to bring the smash fighters back to life, it would be the one who most represents childhood.
It's also symbolic in another way: if you take Mario to represent Nintendo/Sakurai, Sora to represent Disney, and the fire to represent the legal nightmare it must have been to get Sora in this game, then it could be a reflection of just how difficult this was, yet worth it at the end of the day.
Sora being the final fighter feels too good. He is a character from one of the most unlikely of crossovers off all time, and now is in THE biggest, most famous, most successful crossover franchises of all time. Just...wow.

Just appreciate we got a crossover character in a crossover game that connects both Japanese and American franchises and was the most requested character all the way back in the day when Iwata was still alive. I saw this theory somewhere where the announcement video was really weird because it was more a metaphor. Mario was reluctant to grab the flame before just going in is representative of Sakurai being scared of all the copyright issues from Disney, before gaining enough confidence to bite the bullet and make a lot of people happy. The throw of the keyblade and the reveal of the Disney logo was the company's sign of approval, thus finally allowing Sora to enter Smash.

i think people aren't realizing the threat that is that counter. there are some moves that regardless of how you counter them, they will still continue and sometimes the counter, even though activated, it won't hit. THIS COUNTER HOWEVER CANCELS the attack. example, i can do link's up b to recover and the person can counter, but if i reach the ledge, the counter is useless. with this counter however, my up get's canceled so i will fall if the stagger last more then 3 seconds. SO THEORETICALLY, it is should be possible to counter and cancel banjo's side special with the invincibility feathers.
It went from flame to kingdom by thinking of this quote from sora “The heart may be weak. And sometimes it may even give in. But I’ve learned that deep down, there’s a light that never goes out!” And seeing the smash logo’s flame go out except for that one flame Mario touches exemplifies that exact quote imo.

As a guy who played DMC my whole life, the Dante mii was also a huge win. I'm SOOO happy DMC is in the greatest crossover in history!
The final character being an original Smash character would be so good. Weird, but good.
That said, I'm happy Sora got in. Just feels right overall to have a character born from a crossover to be in the Ultimate crossover.
When you said, "...Why's ROB there?", I laughed so hard. Also, the symbolism of the trailer itself is what makes me emotional. The Smash logo represents the spark of creativity and imagination that a child has with toys since the Smash fighters are canonically supposed to be toys being played by a kid. The fire is what gives them life, hence when the logo dissipated due to no more fighters being added, they all reverted back to figurines. However, a key to unlocking the imagination once more fell from the flaming logo, and its glimmer was enough to reawaken Mario, who picked up the blade and it unlocked the one character that was the KEY to so many people's childhoods. That trailer wasn't just a fighter trailer, it was a symbolic trailer for Smash's lore. That's why it boggles me how almost everyone was jumping to Tabuu, Masterhand, Dark Souls knight and even freaking Cinderace because "Oh, there's fire in the darkness and they're all trophies."
That would also explain why it was kh1 Sora who came through the portal. Kh1's story was about a group of children learning about the outside world as they are getting older. If any version of Sora was going to bring the smash fighters back to life, it would be the one who most represents childhood.

It's also symbolic in another way: if you take Mario to represent Nintendo/Sakurai, Sora to represent Disney, and the fire to represent the legal nightmare it must have been to get Sora in this game, then it could be a reflection of just how difficult this was, yet worth it at the end of the day.
Sora being the final fighter feels too good. He is a character from one of the most unlikely of crossovers off all time, and now is in THE biggest, most famous, most successful crossover franchises of all time. Just...wow.

I saw this theory somewhere where the announcement video was really weird because it was more a metaphor.
Mario was reluctant to grab the flame before just going in is representative of Sakurai being scared of all the copyright issues from Disney, before gaining enough confidence to bite the bullet and make a lot of people happy. The throw of the keyblade and the reveal of the Disney logo was the company's sign of approval, thus finally allowing Sora to enter Smash.
The fire was meant to symbolize all the fighters and the one ember of a fighter remained.
I’m just glad doom guy is in the game. Let’s be honest, making a doom slayer moveset would be a PAIN for smash.

What better way to wrap up the roster than with a character from one of the most ambitious crossover games joining another one of the most ambitious crossover games. I don’t even play KH but his whole presentation gave me a warm fuzzy feeling.
I can safely say that the title themes not being there (simple and clean, my sanctuary, etc.) is a legal thing as neither Square nor Disney own the rights to those songs.

I mean it wasn't impossible. It wasn't really that much more or less likely than the Doomslayer or Sora. Well maybe a bit since Kingdom Hearts and Doom are available on Nintendo Consoles, but still, it wasn't IMPOSSIBLE. It was as good a guess as any other.

i think people aren't realizing the threat that is that counter. there are some moves that regardless of how you counter them, they will still continue and sometimes the counter, even though activated, it won't hit.
THIS COUNTER HOWEVER CANCELS the attack.
example, i can do link's up b to recover and the person can counter, but if i reach the ledge, the counter is useless. with this counter however, my up get's canceled so i will fall if the stagger last more then 3 seconds.
SO THEORETICALLY, it is should be possible to counter and cancel banjo's side special with the invincibility feathers.
It also looks cooler than a regular counter
