I had to listen to this song after hearing it on H.P.R (Houston Public Radio and they were talking about a ballet dancer who made a choreography to this song a long time ago, and that is sent the whole audience to tears. It almost sent me to tears.
It's a poem, musically, and it seems a resonant of long lost remembrance of one's love, perhaps first love or whatever, love that from time to time emerges to sting and that of course, it was long gone
My comment didn't get posted. I love this piece, especially played on the violin. Exquisite (as anjulirobin said) is the perfect word. This piece expresses "exquisite" love. A pity that one doesn't hear it very often.
C'est pour moi une musique d'un ami décédé tragiquement, qui m'a demandé de jouer cet air lorsqu'il était triste. C'est vraiment vrai Dieu existe, que ce soit dans n'importe quelle religion !
Wow - I think this has become my 'definitive' version of this piece - simply an amazing rendition, so full of emotion. Is a studio recorded version available? I would love to hear it without audience noise.
Yes, it certainly is one of the moving pieces. I just downloaded on from the web -violin only (in C). I trust Fisher also played in this key. You can down load this free, but for a vilolin/piano this shop sells at $6. Original piano piece is in D flat.
They forbid me to send the website to you for this violin piano music. You can try Metler violin shop, inc, ask for Fibich,Zdenek: Poem Op. 39 from "At Twilight" (violin & piano)
To me, Fischer looks like a prideful player but lacks finesse. Vibrato too tight , bowing not too smooth and had too much of an accent in phrasing. Try to google Jela Spitkova playing Fibich, audio only, you will hear the difference.
absolutely amazing...this is by far the best duet performing Poem I've seen! :)
This is perhaps the most beautiful piece ever written by Zdenek Fibich. I love this rendition.

This little number has a lot of meaning for me. Thanks for performing and posting it. From Chris Westrick

Incredible tone, as expected from the tone expert :)
No, it is not available - this is Simon Fischer's own arrangement of it. I don't know if there are any plans to publish it at the moment.
Yes, there is a free download version. for violin only - in C. Fisher played in C I trust. Original piano piece is in D flat.
Superb...
Bravooo

Esta música linda é a mesma que tu tocas tão bem no piano. Ouve esta execução e compara com a tua.

that's beautiful, but can you explain why it appears the bow is not exactly 90 degrees to the bridge??
Lindíssima
So beautiful! Does anyone know where I could get the sheet music for this arrangement? (violin and piano)
Where can I get the sheet music for this arrangement? Beautifully done.
Nice interpretation, but, have you changed the key of this song?
I wonder how do you play?
search on imslp.org i found it there
