I took my music box apart but it was trying to play music at all. The music box was still old. It’s been playing slow for 10 minutes. The music box was fixed so what is playing on its own. It’s silent night so it won’t be slow anymore.
So, touching, starting at 1:20 did you clean it with your tears? Lol, I know how you feel. After 43+ years I went back to the farm, and they took the windmill down and there was a grain auger that I got the motor to working before and they were using it. Now the crank won't turn so I'm not going to fix it. But I got a couple pictures now to remember it by. Hope you can go back to crying yourself to sleep with your music box. Tears of joy. I just fixed a Happy Birthday box from a cake stand. I'm already doing quartz clocks so maybe music boxes also. A good cleaning and a little lube should do it.
I just watched a few videos about music boxes that are wound too tight...and from what I learned, is that the initial prong that begins the rotation..that gets dirty..they used a toothpick and put a super small amount of wd40...and by doing that, it took away that slow playback.
I got one I reckon I'll put out tomorrow; I took the time to do some slow mo on it as well with the higher speed settings on my phone, oddly satisfying to watch.
What is a waist of time? This guy repairing something very sentimental to him, or you watching the video? I think him repairing this is time well spent. And as far me watching it is also time well spent. The only time that was waisted was you thinking of something to complain about!
