I slept on a hide a bed and had to buy a large air mattress as the one on the hide a bed was so thin I felt every spring and strap in it. Here's hoping yours is better.

I had a corn stove for heat over 9 years from U.S. Stove works in the states of Tenn.// made in the USA and buy 2 tons of corn to heat my 1500 sq foot home
That sounds awesome and efficient, if I had corn fields and not 15 acres of trees surrounding me I would do that too. Does it work just like a pellet stove?
what I like about corn stove it runs for 12 hours on one fill up the hopper// and it needs 110 volts power all times// set on low 2 SETTING as they have 50,000 B T U

Hi without giving your exact location away what part of Northern Michigan is your property? I live in the Gaylord area and the area your in looks a lot like what one would see when you get out of town. Just wondering love the videos.
Hey Angela, it is funny how areas have that look right?? We have friends on here that have cabins in Wisconsin and Minnesota and the land looks similar to our woods as well, but they are on the other side of lake Michigan, lol. We actually have family that has a place in Gaylord and spent a lots of time at their place before we bought our property. We are about 45 minutes from Gaylord so not too far off. 😁
We plan to build a simple toilet of some type. Maybe an outhouse but maybe composting up near the cabin. Then we will just continue to shower down at camp.
I dunno!! I think the bed should stay downstairs!! It's all comfy!! It's right next to the fire when it dies out during the night!! And your doggies are also content sleeping next to you!! After a hard day of work around the cabin...the last thing you need is crawling up some stairs to go to bed!!
=) You make very good points. If it wasn't for my huge desire for the open concept and all the extra work it was to build that loft and extra high ceiling I would likely give in. One of the promises I made Jen, if she allowed the loft bedroom, was to build her an addition bedroom as soon as time allowed on the ground floor. So we may only use that loft bedroom for a year or less. Only time will tell

@@wehvgirlpwr I think so too. We went with 16 wide in fear that 12 would just be too small and we didnt want to have regrets. Just mentioning this because you said you are building one soon, we did 9 foot walls and a steep10/12 pitch roof to make the space seem bigger. We also put the loft floor at 8 foot rather than on the wall sills at 9 foot to give more space in the loft. Hope this helps a little. We have the whole build series playlist if you haven't already gone through them. There are some tidbits in there along the way. 😁
We just ran out of tongue and groove, we will get some more this fall and that will be a fall/winter project as well as the kitchen and the ceiling area in the kitchen. :D

What are you doing about the upper part over the back window that isn't tongue and groved jet?
