4:18 "Most coursebooks, tbh, the texts are not affectively or cognitively engaging, and neither are the tasks... and if you look at most coursebooks, nothing much has changed over the last 40, 50 years....... [lists approaches claimed by coursebooks] but if you look inside, you'll find that.. it's the same old thing - it's matching, it's filling in the blank, it's .. the exercises are very closed ... and the reason for that is so they can be used for tests...... [the coursebooks] narrow the learners' opportunities"

Recycling can be covered by adding an Extensive Reading component (in or) out of class. This works whether you are using a textbook or not.

Anyone know the name of the author? Searching for a textbook called 'Search' isn't enough to go on unfortunately

      Maybe "Searching", not "Serach".

it's worth to me since i have been carrying out a research on 'ELT Materials Development and its Relevance.' Furthermore, it provided insight into how materials to be prepared and applied while teaching .
