Nannu Brovu Lalitha | Shyama Shastri | Gayathri Venkataraghavan

Shyama Shastri pours his heart out in this sublime kriti, imploring Devi to rescue him from the samsara sagara . This reflects in the first three words, which address the Goddess Lalitha Maha Tripurasundari and also includes the Raga Mudra.
He compares the Goddess to Kalpalatha -one who grants the wishes of the devotees. He says further, all the Gods including the Trinity worship Her lotus feet and in an exquisite exhibition of his literary prowess, he weaves the words Purani, Vani, Indrani and Rani..
His constant refrain in this kriti, as with many of his other Kritis, is that , the time was ripe for the supreme Goddess to liberate him from the worldly bonds. Again displaying his proficiency, he employs a beautiful nama from Sri Lalitha Sahasranama - Sumeru madhya nilaye in the charanam.
Truly an evocative kriti that showcases Shyama Shastri's creative genius and makes us meditative and fills us with immense happiness and calms the mind.
