How a pilot gets to Crater Lake, Crater Lake leg

How you get to Crater Lake, if your a pilot. You fly of course....:) This is the second leg from Bend Oregon to Crater Lake. Matt, Chelsea and I enjoyed beautiful weather as we flew around Crater Lake, Mt. Bachelor, Three Sisters, Moon Mt., Waldo Lake, Crescent Lake, Mt. Thielsen, and Diamond Lake. They didn't disappoint. Wish I had some better cameras to do everything justice, but they will be coming! Hope you enjoyed the flight and stay tuned for the 30knot tail winds on the flight back home in the next video!!!!!!!

See the flaps are still down on climbout ~2:50. When do you retract them? 1000'AGL?

My normal alt that I raise them is 400’. That take off was actually pretty sketchy. There was a lot of rotor winds off the mountains, helicopters on Bravo taxi way, and sheer winds. It was a slow climb I was trying to get as much lift as I could for as long as reasonable. Matt my buddy next to me is a pilot as well and we discussed it and thought we also might have got some tail wind from the helicopter. It took awhile before I felt comfortable climate Vy and not Vx pitching the nose down that far.

Hey man thats awesome! I grew up in a flying family, but i have yet to take the plunge on getting my license. Iv got a couple buddies that fly so i get my fix now and then lol

That’s great. I love flying, and maybe someday I’ll make a careerist of it. Just remember it’s never to late to get your license!!! Get out there and start flying:) If you’re ever in the Oregon area we could go up for a flight.

@@charlesmckenna6164, that would be great Charles. I'll keep that in mind. Iv only been to OR a couple times back in 1997. I hauled a couple loads of potatoes out of North West OR to Winnipeg Manitoba Canada.
