Senior Hindi films musician Nirmal Mukherjee passed away on 18 Jan, 2023.. Niru-da ( as he was fondly called ) was an extremely talented percussion player & rhythm arranger, playing for many composers, including mainly for Rajesh Roshan & Laxmikant Pyarelal. He is officially credited as music assistant / arranger in a few Rajesh Roshan movies of the 70s too !
We, at Nostalgiaana, have been extremely blessed to have had him play in one of our deep-dive shows...It was year 2017 with a small audience that attended, including senior musician Arvind Haldipur & film-maker Brahmanand Singh, among others.
In this video, Nirmal Mukherjee is playing the Conga(s) LIVE to a popular Hindi film soundtrack / song. Needless to say, he played in the original song too ! The energy & passion can be well seen in the video !
