I always ask (inoffensively), "But, why focus on just the Torah?" The T'nach, (or Tanakh) has two other parts, to it: the Neviim and the Ketuvim. After all, "Tanakh" [T-N-K] is an acronym. Well the oldest pronunciations I've ever seen was from some ancient Greek texts back when Greek was considered the only language that could perfectly translate Hebrew (and Greek has vowels so we know how to pronounce it). Many of them usually only said Ιαω (literally Iaw, pronounced Yaw) mostly, but one says Ιαωουηε (literally Iawouie - pronounced Yawue), so I think Yahweh is probably the oldest pronunciation I've ever found of יהוה

There is one thing that might be helpful for others learning this beautiful prayer. The last part of this video is very important, the part that begins "and let's read this now in fluent Hebrew." It is very important to learn how the words are actually spoken. But that part is said so fast that I turned the speed to 75% to learn this, and now after going through it a couple of times I can turn the speed back up to full speed! The reason I place so much value on the way a native speaker says the words is that I can think of half a dozen words in English that are spoken slightly differently than the way they should be spoken. For example most of the time in a sentence although I should be saying "and" normally I just say " an," as in "David 'an' Jim went to the movies." That's just the first one that sprang to mind - there are many others. Thank you! 🙏 😊 ❤️

My heart is being drawn to Torah and understanding more of who G-d is. Thank you so much for helping those of us who want to learn the language of the Tanakh. It is a great gift.
I always ask (inoffensively), "But, why focus on just the Torah?" The T'nach, (or Tanakh) has two other parts, to it: the Neviim and the Ketuvim.
After all, "Tanakh" [T-N-K] is an acronym.
My favorite "section" is the Nevi'im: all of the writings of the prophets (even the obscure prophets, about whom little is known).

Well the oldest pronunciations I've ever seen was from some ancient Greek texts back when Greek was considered the only language that could perfectly translate Hebrew (and Greek has vowels so we know how to pronounce it). Many of them usually only said Ιαω (literally Iaw, pronounced Yaw) mostly, but one says Ιαωουηε (literally Iawouie - pronounced Yawue), so I think Yahweh is probably the oldest pronunciation I've ever found of יהוה

There is one thing that might be helpful for others learning this beautiful prayer. The last part of this video is very important, the part that begins "and let's read this now in fluent Hebrew." It is very important to learn how the words are actually spoken. But that part is said so fast that I turned the speed to 75% to learn this, and now after going through it a couple of times I can turn the speed back up to full speed! The reason I place so much value on the way a native speaker says the words is that I can think of half a dozen words in English that are spoken slightly differently than the way they should be spoken. For example most of the time in a sentence although I should be saying "and" normally I just say " an," as in "David 'an' Jim went to the movies." That's just the first one that sprang to mind - there are many others.
