  • Jimmy White's Rise: From Addiction to Snooker Stardom
Jimmy White, the renowned snooker player, has captivated fans with his exceptional skills and charismatic personality. With over 300 Century breaks in professional competitions, he stands out as one of the most accomplished players in the sport. However, there is a lesser-known side to his story - his battle with a £10,000 per month crack cocaine addiction. This struggle may have impacted his pursuit of 10 world titles. Join us as we delve into the untold aspects of Jimmy White's remarkable journey in the world of snooker.
Born on May 2nd, 1962 in London, Jimmy White's academic path took a backseat to his passion for snooker. Skipping school at an early age, he honed his skills at Ted Xanon Celli's Snooker Hall where he crossed paths with Tony Mow. His innate talent propelled him to win numerous amateur championships and become the youngest-ever winner of the World Amateur Snooker Championship at just 18 years old.
Emulating Alex Higgins' aggressive playing style, Jimmy White became known as "The People's Champion." Despite being considered one of the best players never to have won the World Snooker Championship (with six runner-up finishes), he remains beloved by fans worldwide. Discover more about this iconic figure and gain insights into how addiction affected his quest for greatness.
