I'm considering doing a cordless compressor comparison like the DeWalt and Milwaukee. What other ones should I include? Here are the links for the compressors! Hope It helps! I have a VIAIR 450P, and it has come in handy to fill one of my tires on my fifth wheel that likes to lose air really slowly. 68 ft of length, 100% duty cycle up to an hour at a time, and up to 150 psi... I do notice that these smaller compressors take much longer than most people expect for airing up. Your numbers seemed really good, I think my 450P took 3 or 4 minutes to go from 30-80 psi the last time I used it.
I’ve been using the Dewalt 20V cordless for a couple of years now and am very happy with it. It is capable of producing 120 psi which our tires are set at. It may not be the fastest, but speed is not generally a concern. I just set it and work on other tasks like checking lug nut torque while it is running. Plus it uses the same battery as all my Dewalt tools. With a 5ah battery, I can top off RV and tow vehicle tires on a single charge.
As someone that has on-board air on my Wrangler's for well over a decade I stick with Viair. Tried, true, trusted in the off road community. The Viair 450C in my 2012 JKR has been there since 2013. And I've used it for weeks on end airing up my tires every day during trips.
I have a DeWalt battery powered compressor that I’m in love with. It handles the RV 100psi tires and also my dirt bike with my rear tire as low as 8 psi. You set the pressure and it automatically shuts off, and you can repeat more tires at the same pressure.
I agree. The Dewalt battery powered is pretty good. I've had no issues with it and it's accurate. Everyone loves the Viair but me. I had one that constantly blew the 10 in line fuse. It was horrible. No thanks, I'll keep my dewalt.
My choice is the Dewalt 20v inflator, fits my personal needs better and I believe use what you have don't go buying stuff if you don't need to so I haven't had the opportunity to try any 12v compressors yet for RVing, but the Dewalt is working good for me.
I bought the 7 pin adapter kit from Viair for my 400 RV 4047 because my truck and travel trailer are 53’ long combined. This way, I am working from the middle of the rig and not the front. My trailer has a Dragonfly 270ah battery that is not accessible from outside my pass thru compartment so the 7 pin made a lot of sense. The Viair is a great compressor. A weird operating feature of my setup with my F250 SD is that in order to power the 7 pin, you need to step on the brake pedal. Do that, and it works great. I would not have known this had Viair not included this info in the 7 pin kit! Thanks for the great review as usual!
Excellent review. We have a 400p-RV Viair and it has been excellent. We had a 300 before that that got stolen! 🇨🇦 Happy new year...planning the spring now amidst the snow here!
We recently got the Dewalt portable air compressor and absolutely love it! You just turn it on, set the PSI to the desired level, hit start, and walk away!
I got my Milwaukee inflator as part of a free tool deal and I'm so glad I did. I don't know how it would compare with these but it being truly portable is nice.
Great video. This is a piece of equipment that is absolutely vital for anybody with an RV whether it’s a camper a toy hauler class A-B or C. Like most things it’s kind of you get what you pay for. But depending on your use need you don’t have to spend a ton of money to get a good unit but you must make sure you get a decent unit otherwise what’s the point personally I have: VIAIR 450P-RV Automatic Portable Air Compressor Kit - 150 PSI for RV, Truck, Jeep and SUV Tires - RV Accessories with 1.80 CFM And it’s expensive, but it’s an absolute beast and the quality is insane. Not to mention the customer service and support is unparalleled.
We have the viar 450P for the truck and 5th wheel. I like it for the 100% duty cycle. We already had a viar 400P which I keep in the car. Love your videos, so clear and to the point.
Great video. Would have enjoyed seeing a ARB compressor in that mix. That Bulldog looks interesting but our Viair 300P has been running flawlessly for the past three years.
I have the Viair 400 for my RV and have been using it for about 3 years it came with an extra coiled hose so it reaches from the truck battery to the back tires on the RV no problem. I bought a compressor for my off road 4Runner like the bulldog 150 and its beast it fills big tires fast but it is heavy which is ok for the 4x4 I prefer the lighter Viair for the RV
Since a picked up a Milwaukee M18 portable air compressor, I haven’t touched my Viair. No long hose to deal with, no hot metal that you have to wait to cool off. The Milwaukee is so much more convenient, theres no comparison.
I have the Viair 300P and cut the cord and installed a 50A Anderson plug. This way I can connect the battery clamps when needed but otherwise I plug it into the 50A Anderson on the truck's bumper that I use to power my DC-DC charger. Also built a 10AWG extension from solar cables with Anderson connectors as an extension cord. Been working great for my needs. I do wish it would auto off like the 400P, enough to think about DIY'ing a pressure switch
Great video, but a couple of comments: 1 - Surprised you did not even mention battery-powered compressors (such as the Dewalt 20v Max) and why they are not compared. 2 - I thought your comment that the Viair 400 "hits the sweet spot" was odd since the Bulldog outperformed it (though heavier snd slightly less accurate) and the Viair 400 is significantly higher priced. ???
I might have to do a cordless lineup test. Some good options there as well. The size of the 400 or 300 as well as it performing near the top across every test. The BullDog doesn’t fit where we have kept our air compressor behind the tow vehicle seat.
We carry a Viair 450P-RV. And wired a weather plug to it and our 5er. So I can just plug it into the Rig. And I have the same weather plug in the truck.
You left out the Dewalt and Milwalkee cordless inflators. I am on the Dewalt battery system and been using the inflator for 2 years now on my truck and RV. A single 4AH battery has enough juice to add 3-5 psi to all 4 trailer wheels and all 6 truck wheels in a single charge. Also has a 120v power suppply (optional accessory). Reach is great as there is nothing connected and has no issue getting my tires to 110psi.
Nicely done. I've been known to use jumper cables for longer reach. 😊 IMHO: I don't think those measured with duty cycles computed at only 30 psi should be considered by RVers regardless of what their top PSI output is. Best...
I bought a "cheap" Slime pump and it "works," but nothing like the Viair 300P. It is fast and reliable. If you are going serious 4wheeling with "big tires, you are better off with a Powertank Co2 tank. It is many, many times faster than these pumps. I used to have one and it did the job very well also very expensive.
If you have your RV chances are you have access to 120 or you have a generator on board, why not just get one of the small pancake compressors (like the dewalt) that plug into 120 and you have no issues with waiting for anything and it’s twice as fast. Plus it has a tank that holds air even when not plugged in. I understand this is a sponsored video and you are basically doing this to make a sale, but still.
We are full timers and have a class A, and none of these are rated to fill a 315 tire. I have the ViAir 400P, and from dead flat, it took about 45 min to get it over 100psi. Again, the documents from ViAir clearly state, it is not designed to support this size tire or bigger. In addition, take a look at the CFM rating on the pump one more time - it's rated 2.30CFM at 0 psi. That's right - 0 psi (wow). Look at their supplied fill tables. Get up to around 80 psi, and this thing is well below 1 CFM. For the money, for a diesel pusher class A, this is a terrible choice. Get a small pan size compressor and plug it into your 110v outlet, and fill your tire. Your coach might have an air chuck near the front too.
I run with duel pumps by via air, on my truck with 5 gallons of air. THE CFM and duty cycle is a BIG DEAL, get what you can afford. The CFM is how much air the pump can put out. That’s 30 min. To fill a tire or 5 minutes.
I use Milwaukee for the majority of my battery powered tools. Their 18V inflater beats all of these hands down. Portable, 150 psi, programable 4 presets, true pressure- pauses at setpoint to allow the pressure to settle on the sensor. Fast , temperature protection, can run for 20 minutes before cool down. I've filled three 20" truck tires from empty to full before the 20 minutes. About $135 right now regular price. I burnt up 3 of those types he tested after less than a year each.

Yes indeed, the Dewalt cordless has been great for my class A coach and airing up to 120 psi without issue.
I agree. The Dewalt battery powered is pretty good. I've had no issues with it and it's accurate.

Surprised to not see the Dewalt cordless air compressor. I love mine.
Same. It also has 12V plug if in a pinch. I used the 12V plug on our emergency battery jump.
The Dewalt is fantastic! Auto shut off and has a light. Comes with attachments for pool toys and other inflatables.
Excellent review. We have a 400p-RV Viair and it has been excellent. We had a 300 before that that got stolen! 🇨🇦 Happy new year...planning the spring now amidst the snow here!

Love my Milwaukee M18!
Your comparisons are nice. Just didn't mention tool based...
I got my Milwaukee inflator as part of a free tool deal and I'm so glad I did. I don't know how it would compare with these but it being truly portable is nice.
i replaced my Viair with a M18. The Milwaukee is so much more convenient and has no trouble going to 80 psi
Yes, love the format and comparisons!!!!

I like these new style of RV specific testing
Great video. Would have enjoyed seeing a ARB compressor in that mix. That Bulldog looks interesting but our Viair 300P has been running flawlessly for the past three years.
Great info. Feels like Project Farm for RV stuff 👍 and that is meant to be a compliment.
Since I carry Milwaukee M18 tools; I carry the M18 inflator. Works like a champ.
I have the 400 P which I’ve had for maybe six or seven years for my diesel pusher motorhome and it works great.
Thank you! Perfect timing as I’m looking for one now
Nice! Glad it helped.
You are not update on the Viair compressors the 450p-rv ef has the 7 way plug. And the 400p rv.ef your can get the 7 way plug also
Since a picked up a Milwaukee M18 portable air compressor, I haven’t touched my Viair. No long hose to deal with, no hot metal that you have to wait to cool off. The Milwaukee is so much more convenient, theres no comparison.
I might have to do a cordless lineup test

I have a Milwaukee 2475-20 air inflator that I use for everything inflatable and works great!!
Channeling your inner Project Farm...😊
He does make some great testing videos. He definitely inspired this one.
Nice work!

No ARB?
I have the viair and m18 Milwaukee and only use the Milwaukee now
Thor's Lightning Bolt Portable 12v True Dual Air Compressor 10.6 CFM. Try this one out.

Dewalt 20v is the best.
Smittybuilt is by far the best.
My viair gauge goes up to 150psi

I burnt up 3 of those types he tested after less than a year each.
