Update on this list, since I've checked these out since watching this video last year and found other dams of my own: The obvious one is Emmarentia dam, quite safe, decent fishing (bass, carp, baabel, small kurper), float tubing and small boats allowed, bank fishing from the roadside and bridge only no bank fishing from inside the botanical gardens (a waste of good bank if you ask me) Jackson dam, out near mall of the south, very safe, great dam, amazing carp fishing, lovely bass fishing as well, good structure and cover in the water, caught a 2kg bass there recently, enclosed area, no charge to enter, opens at 7am

Bro so sad that they’ve made the quarry a trout farm now, we’ve had a few good days at Homestead though we take the float tubes and haven’t had a security issue. I think all us anglers would really appreciate an updated list you’ve been on so many more adventures
If im not mistaken.....I think you are allowed to fish the quarry for bass again. Touch wood, every time I've been to Homestead dam i've never had any bad encounters or felt unsafe but thats me. I have been doing reaserch on updating this list of bank fishing spots for quiet some time now. so hopefully i will get a video together.
@@BassingwithSascha hey bro so we were there about a month ago, you only allowed to fish about 60% of the bank for Bass and if you catch a trout you pay for it so it could end up a super costly experience for an afternoon of fun

At this stage no, I was at Thulani about a month ago cought nothing. There where dead fish floating on the surface of the small dam and the water were extremely dirty, like unfishable dirty.
Visited both dams the past 3 months a couple of times. Wonderland is by far better, specifically for trout in the winter. I caught my pb, a 3.5kg rainbow there.
Rust in Orbi Resort is quite a nice spot in Alberton, its around the corner from the zoo farm place. You can fish for carp too. Very safe but if you go there after it rains be careful of the mud.
Thanks for the awesome video, You should try Bronkies Angling and Nature Reserve, it's a good fishing spot. Very safe fenced area. Entrance about R30 and you can camp overnight. Just be wary of fishing tournaments because they always have these there and they tend to take up most of the dam, they also have electrical plug point where you can plug your caravans etc. For overnight fishing. It's a bit of a drive on a dirt road of the highway, its abit tricky to find just a small blue signboard on the side of the highway but the experience and fishing won't dissapoint. And you can use your boats, guys are always on jetski's, boats etc. 👌
I would recommend you check out Wonderland 45 its just outside Pretoria on the Boschkop Road . Very safe and nice venue and massive fish ! Everything from trout to barbel
you should have look at Donaldson Dam. carp and bass fishing, but you must take a mate though. best to go for a weekend, and you can take a float tube, or a small 2 man pontoon/boat/canoe if you want. Last time i was there it was only R100 for the day/night and R40 for the car. give it a check. there are two dams, bottom and top, one is a members only. i think its the top one.
Been to Thabo's dam a couple of times now. Recommend a small boat/float tube at least a pair of waders. The entry is the first gate after the bridge (You will be passing the dam on your left when going over the bridge)
My 2 PB 3kg was caught jn impala park, at the pond behind the public hall pond, but now it is almost 90% covered in lilly pads. Another spot is in dalpark ,next to carnival city. Giant bass.

Awesome video bud. I've relocated to gauteng a few years back and was finding it very difficult to find bass fishing spots. This video helps me alot. I've tried fun fishing, It's a very nice and very secure place to go with family i Caught 2 small bass, perfect for a beginner. I've tried edenvale quarry last weekend and caught 0 I'm going back this weekend with more baits (what baits would u recommend for edenvale quarry?) , there's huge bass there that u can actually see coz the water is nice and clear, also nice and secure I've seen a guard patroling whilst I was fishing. I've watched all ur videos. Great channel ☺️👍👌🎣
Well i'm glad that my video was helpful. If your going back to the quarry you should only use finesse rigs like drop shots, ned rigs, moyo rigs or even neko rigs. Apparently a 3 inch weighted wacky senko has been doing good there, let it sink to the bottom and hop it off the bottom. I recommend natural colors like green pumpkin and watermelon. The big fish at the quarry are very difficult to catch. If you can see them don't bother trying to catch them, they will never bite. They just really difficult to catch. I've only caught a hand full bigger fish there over a period of 5 years. Well I hope you find what you need at tackle cabin.
Safest spot, big bass, barbel, carp, tilapia. Check out Midfield Dam out in Midrand/Centurion. On the golf course. You have to pass through at least 3 gates. Can leave your keys in the car. Its free, resturaunt and bar on the property. Lots of shade.

Bass fishing is mostly with lures and such... Artificial things representing fish or worms. Carp fishing is with bait. Such as corn, floaties and others
Great content as there is not much out here in SA. I've just recently started bass fishing have went to bergsig and oppiekoppie more recently have gotten a few in both spots.

It simple. You rock up there and they give you a day permit to fish. I’m not to sure what all the rules are, but they give you a list of rules. I think bass lake is closed at the moment for the spawn.
I'll be very honest I can't only suggest two more places. Kloofzicht lodge & Spa, Bergsig trout farm. These are safe to go to and you really don't need to worry about crime. Wish I could have given you more places to fish
Just an update since it seemed you're not too familiar with homestead. It's a very nice dam but it is not that safe. We had an issue with people posing as police officers harassing women a few years back and recently two of my friends had their cars stolen there (both bakkies), there is also more homeless people than we'd like hanging around and vehicle break-ins are common. Just stay vigilant. Tight lines

Got to love South African fishing, is it safe or not. I take my rods and a small box of tackle and that it. Dowerglen is good, homestead is better. Blaaupan during the week is the best, you got to find the right spots though, but at least it’s safe, I live 200m away, contact me I’ll drive you out there! Used to fish the quarry as an Edenvale kid, good spot too. Got my PB at Bronkhorstspruit (3.8kg), but since I started bass fishing in Natal, it took a while to top Albert Falls. I have one other secret spot in Gauteng but I don’t know if it legal to fish there.

Try Wonderland 45, Boschkop road, tweedracht, as well as Thulani Fishing Resort, Lavender Rd, Wonderboom.

Is Thulani better than Wonderland? Mostly only small bass bite at wonderland and they are few and far between

So I think fishing off a small craft is ideal for that dam. I got so lost when I first went there.

Try Mongena in Dinokeng, saw quite a few 3kg + come out there the biggest was 4.7kg

Blaauwpan is the eastrand hidden gem. There are truck loads of bass.
