    I was taught how to embroider when I was 8 years old, I am now 80. Counted cross stitch is my passion.

    I have been searching for someone to show how to stitch two over two up close where I can see. I’m new to stitching and learn visually. This gives me the confidence to try Lugana. Thank you so much🤸🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️

    You are so much fun! I am a little late to the game but ordered my pattern today from Primrose Cottage. However paid, got an invoice saying it was delivered..but didn’t receive it. I sent an email and hope to hear from them soon so I can “catch up” on the SAL. YOU ARE AMAZING!! I enjoy ALL your videos on card making and floss tube..but LOVE “the lives!” Thank you for the fun and for sharing👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Each of the tips you give….may seem small…but are not if don’t know about it. So thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Hugs💖, Debi

    You have inspired me to pick up my needle & thread again! My eyes are not as good as they used so I ordered the halo go…such a game changer! If you are using 2 strands try the loop method for starting a strand, it’s so much easier! 😊 thank you for enabling me to get back into this relaxing hobby!

    • @rhondaalbrecht
      @rhondaalbrecht 2 роки тому

      Loop start is great for non-fancy floss over-dyed threads, IMHO. However, if you're using the over-dyes fancy floss, you'll lose the subtle varigation with the loop starts, so don't double it up... 2 strands kept in the same direction when you pull it from the twist.

    • @cre8tvmom
      @cre8tvmom 2 роки тому

      @@rhondaalbrecht oh! Great tip! Hadn’t thought of that. I know that you have to stitch one X at a time with the fancy floss but didn’t think about loosing the gradient by doubling it over. I have just started a project using fancy floss for the first time I guess I will use the pin stitch. Is that what you do with the fancy flosses?

    • @rhondaalbrecht
      @rhondaalbrecht 2 роки тому

      @@cre8tvmom I just leave a short tail and catch it in the stitches as I make them, trimming it short once it's caught.

    I just am catching this on the replay the next morning! I love how close you got to your fabric so I could really see what you were doing as I've only used Aida fabric! I also wanted to say that I bought the same light but got the plug-in version and it works great and has quite a long cord. Also, it was $47 on Amazon which is saving about half!

  • @jennylane3306

    The cross stitch key is one of my favorite tools too! Did you know that if you line up the corner of the ruler with the corner of the fabric, you can actually use the hole in the ruler to drop your needle down from the top if you use the loop start?

    Years ago, most of my stitching was smocking and heirloom embroidery. I am not positive that what I learned about the eyes of embroidery needles holds true for tapestry needles, but I think it does. The stamping process of punching an eye into a needle results in a subtle difference between the two sides. One is convex, the other concave. If you are having trouble getting your floss through on one side (without using a threader) you might be on the convex side and turning the needle over will help.

    Tapestry needles are blunt tipped, larger eyes to thread more easily. Sizes are relative to the fabric you're stitching on... 24 works on the larger holes of Aida such as 14-count (or 28-count evenweaves), 26 for the smaller holes such as 16-count or 18-count Aida (32-count or 36-count evenweaves), 28 for the smaller holes such as 20-count Aida or smaller (40-count and higher count evenweaves)... because the needle doesn't make the holes larger when the needle and thread passes through the fabric.

    Watching on replay. You've inspired me to dig out my CS stuff after 25+ years. My first try back was a 25ct Lugana 2 over 2 Halloween sampler and it was too tiny for me. I ordered 14 count and I'm waiting for that in todays mail. I should order the magnifier. Anyway I'm ordering this pattern and will try to catch up with this SAL. Thanks for sharing more than card-making.

    QUESTION : I have looked in every Floss tube video looking for the answer, I’m sorry I have to ask you this. I just recently bought the “Letters to Santa” and i have always used 14 Aida, and went over 1 stitch. But, the calculator said over 2 stitch, is that what you did, 2 over 2?

    • @NicholSpohrLLC
      @NicholSpohrLLC  2 роки тому

      On Aida, you stitch over one square. You would stitch over 2 on linen or lugana.
