  • A slideshow of photos taken during a visit to the town of Strabane in County Tyrone on Wednesday 5th July 2017. Strabane is the second largest town in County Tyrone after Omagh. It is located next to the Tyrone-Donegal border with the town of Lifford across the River Foyle from Strabane. The A5 Dublin-Derry road bypasses Strabane and the A38-N15/N14 links Strabane with Sligo and Letterkenny. The River Mourne flows through the town of Strabane. Church of the Immaculate Conception in Strabane was built between 1890 and 1895. Strabane is in the Diocese of Derry. Strabane was on the railway network from 1847 until 1965. Strabane was linked by rail to Derry, Omagh, Enniskillen, Letterkenny and Stranorlar. A 4 mile canal from Leck to Strabane by the River Foyle was in operation from 1792 until 1962. Strabane is served by both Bus Eireann and Ulsterbus.
