As a combat veteran of the U.S. Army (11B) I love my National Anthem and what it stands for...that said, what I heard was someone singing it with FORTISSIMO (very loud) and with feeling. The Star Spangled Banner is a poem written as bombs were bursting in the air. Dan Vasc does Francis Scott Key proud...he sings it loud and clear FOR ALL TO HEAR. "O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation! Blest with vict'ry and peace may the heav'n rescued land Praise the power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation! I recommend you watch Dans apology to this video. Apparently some anti Americans thought he owed them an apology. It’s sad, that a man who is Brazilian and has never even been to the US, has more respect for our country than some ungrateful Americans who were born and raised here and who are enjoying the freedom we have. There aren't enough superlative words to define this guy's versions... He is a musical genius and is a perfectionist to the extreme. And he takes the soul of the music - golden in HIS way - and gives it to our soul. Every time I hear Dan sing this, I am blinking back tears by the time we get to the screaming eagle at the end. This is how it should be sung, strong and powerful. I am glad i noted the flag on the wall and recommended that you had to see this. I think it should be used for sporting events, broadcast signoffs, and political campaigns. Dan is special, and I would love to see more American's achieve that depth of feeling when they consider the battle of Fort McHenry, and the meaning of that flag. Absolutely the way I felt after seeing this the first time. My family has been filled with men (and women) who have fought for our country. The way Dan honors this country that isn't even his own, and the heartfelt way he presents it, hits me very hard. I think the only other person who has sung it in that way, was when my youngest daughter (who is a TREMENDOUS singer and musician) sang it at her senior class graduation. She was only there because she had been allowed to do her elective classes there, while I homeschooled her (from 7th grade onward). She sang the anthem with all of her heart and soul, and there were tears all over the auditorium. I'll never forget that day, and I'll never forget hearing Dan sing this (even if I DIDN'T listen to it every other day or so--grin). Thank you very much, for your wonderful reaction.

Secondly, I had the opportunity to travel to Europe with my high school band for the International Music Festival in Vienna, Austria in 1972. The first night we gathered with other bands and heard the Austrian National Anthem and the United States National Anthem. I've never been so proud to be an American. How is Dan Vasc not the most Famous Rock/Ballad /Talent FULLY RECOGNIZED as the Voice Talent of 2024 and Beyond. Amazing Talent! Sung with Pride/Passion and a sense of Violence that is needed in the Anthem.
I just this week heard Dan's version and it's now among my top 3 favorite versions of the National Anthem. The other 2 favorites are Whitney Houston's traditional version and Madison Rising's version. If you've never heard the one by Madison Rising before, it's on UA-cam, and the lead singer is US Navy Veteran, David Bray. It is quite amazing.

I just turned 60 in August and let me tell you something this man has an amazing voice and he sang this song with so much passion, power and I think every two comments that kind of nailed it on the head when they said admiration. I just this week heard Dan's version and it's now among my top 3 favorite versions of the National Anthem. The other 2 favorites are Whitney Houston's traditional version and Madison Rising's version. If you've never heard the one by Madison Rising before, it's on UA-cam, and the lead singer is US Navy Veteran, David Bray. It is quite amazing.
