This is Part 2 of Chef Baba's Lepinjice and Pasulj Dinner. In this episode, Baba shares two of her old-world Eastern European recipes for beans: Pasulj (White Beans) and Prebranac (Serbian Pinto Beans). These recipes can be used with black beans or other beans, or to add water while cooking to make bean soup.

My baba came from eastern europe..never knew exactly where..they were pushed into Austria Hungary during the war..my mother was born here in the USA..I look at baba.. and think this is how I think my baba must of been..I love to listen to her..so comforting..never met her..my grandparents died before I was born..but when I heard " Zhaplushka ( the rue) which my mother used to make..I felt so close to her..thank you..love your recipes and videos..God bless ..orthodox Christian..and my mother blessed her bread and dough also..it was done privately and to yourself..God bless all good baba's.

You are such a joy to watch Baba and for sure you can cook..excellent. I lived in Macedonia for ten years and spent a lot of time in Serbia and Croatia swimming in Budva July and August.
I ate a lot of beans over there and prepared with time and love excellent.

My mum is 87 ,Serbian and living in the UK and is just like Baba . My kids call her Baka which is probably the same as Grandchildren saying Grandma or Gran here in the UK. My mum calls it Gra but she is from Croatia so maybe Pasulj is used more to the east side of former Yugoslavia like Serbia . Last time i went to Belgrade when talking with waiters i used to wind them up by asking for Gra or Pasulj and they either laugh or look disgusted as its regarded as peasant food from bygone days far below the requirements of todays trendy Belgraders. Whats with this Vegeta seasoning as it seems to go in every dish in the Balkans !

It's called sweating the onions and it's simple!! Omg same as me my kids can't cook my fault I don't like people in my kitchen and bet your bottom dollar I'm in theirs lol lord knows I've tried to show them they never except my oldest son who was born 5 years before the last 5 loves to cook my youngest does to my other kids do it because they have to but eating one of their meals blaaahhhhhhh!! Lol now I go to my 28 year old newly married to help her expand past tacos and spaghetti lol. Oh you too crack me up it does make me a bit upset with some comments so what you talk a lot who cares!!! I'm watching the video right now and you look like you've just given up. Lol

when did we have coconut oil in yugo for this recipe. just wondering
Doug Srbljanin I did not use coconut oil in Yugoslavia. We used sunflower oil, olive oil from Croatia, “mast” from pigs from our farm -- and in Bosnia they use “loj” from sheep. But in America, I prefer to use coconut oil. Thank you for watching. Love, Chef Baba.

We live in Dallas. When we came to America in 1974, we landed in Chicago and then drove to Dallas. DAmir has been to Chicago many times and he loves to visit. He's also been to quite a few nice restaurants and bars in Chicago. 😃 Thank you for watching, Love, Chef Baba.

Doreena Dropuljić Tompkins My accent or Damir's. I don't have an accent. 😁 Damir has an unusual accent because after coming to Texas, he did not want to have a "Texas accent." Nothing with having Texas accent but he wanted one to be more like from California. We live in Dallas. Nice place to live.
