- Here is one of several tracks from Studio Jams Episode #63, taped at Forge Recording Studios in Oreland, PA (USA). It features pianist Eldar Djangirov, bassist Keith Horne, guitarist Dean Brown and drummer Rocky Bryant. It was taped on March 29, 2014. For more on the series, go to www.StudioJams.com.
Probably the best example of modern jazz piano. Unreal.
I also dig the arrangements of Alfa Mist
I really like what you’re saying, Lewis Canon👍🏾👊🏾
Check out Joe Armon-Jones
3:56 - Eldar's solo is so amazing, it's easy to overlook what else is going on. Give it a listen while focusing on Keith's bass playing. He adds so many flourishes throughout that seem like call-and-response, like he's occasionally interjecting to add acknowledgment and often humorous commentary to Eldar's dialog. Maybe I'm reading to much into it, IDK. Either way, I love the subtlety.
inverted 6 string bass? absolute madman
My dad plays this song almost everyday on his Grand Piano, absolutely beautiful song
Eldar Djangirov...oh, hell yes. And Bill Evans smiled.
grebbx Word! Dude KILLED it.
+grebbx Yes ... the spirit of Bill Evans is strong in this one.
Even Eldar seems taxed on this one.
Dean is one of my teachers from MI and after. I have learned so much from him... This is my favorite version of Nardis for sure.
Wow, you're fortunate. I love his intensity in these Studio Jams videos; it makes me think he would be a demanding instructor. Is that accurate?
A modern twist on one of my favorite songs. I love it and I think Miles would have too!!
A Daniels na Miles would’ve talked shit somehow. Haha “why you still playing my old music, make your own!” Haha
I believe Bill Evans wrote it. Perhaps we should be wondering if Bill would like this version. I’d like to think he would.
@@kevincoleman9855 Bill Evans himself said Miles had written it (see the Helsinki home concert).
left hand, 6 ineverted strings bass c-c-c-combo!
In these troubled times everyone should watch this at least once a day!!
The talk at the beginning is so true.
Always learn from mentors, old and new.😑
That snare ... sounds so good
Amazing playing. Will be here watching regularly. Great session.
Superb!!! I cannot stop watching this -it is incredible!
Dean Brown can kick arse!!!! Luv his technique!!!!
Hey, the guitar..impeccable!!
Love this treatment. So good.
YOOOOOOOO! I just realized Eldar is on the pianooooooo! HOT DAMN!
Somehow one of the nicest Strats I've heard, wow!
Man, that bass sounds great...
Great impression of Nardis , I love this tune wether it's Cannonballs version, Bill Evans or even Joe Henderson. These guys give it a nice tight pocket!
what a piano solo !!! grate
Eldar's normally great, but this session seemed unrelaxed and sloppy. Sorry guys, truth hurts.😑
What a piano solo...
great guitar solo. great sound!
Eldar is the big man
Loved that magic trick with the plectrum on 3:18 ;)
Funny you should mention that. I just replayed that moment nearly 10 times, trying to figure out what he did there. I mean... I GUESS it was stashed between his first and second fingers, but I couldn't see it. So funny that someone else should notice that. You must be a guitarist.
Awesome cover!
Awesome!!😮
Great arrangement!,,,,
1:23 Recording
So no one talks about the left handed bass player that plays a right handed bass
My man Rocky lookin like Jay Z from the side
OMG SICK!!! NARDIS an ole time fav.!
Maybe one of the best versions ever recorded after the Miles era....
excellent
Dean is a Beast !!!!!
Great!
Rocky reminds me of Russel, the drummer from Gorillaz
now that's what you call a fat pocket... nice work fellas!
What amp and pedals??? That neck pickup sounds sweet!!
David Norman might be more of an ability to eq the amp and the tone in the hands than amps and pedals.
Kevin Coleman admitted no guitarist ever
Smokin'!
A drummer just in time! Yeagh....
nice

27 dislikes. Are you kidding me. I love this stuff
I didn't
Jayz on the drums
Fufufufuunky!
I think they overdubbed the piano later because you never see a shot of him and other players.
You can see by their physical and musical gestures that they did play this together. Whether they were a little far apart in the studio, or the piano was in a booth, I don't know. But I have no doubt they played together.
Sidran
Didn’t Chet Baker play that lick the guitarist is playin in the 80s?
Which?
Forgetful at 2:18 B, A, G, E, A, Ab, A, Ab, F, E
Really good ! Piano needs some tuning.
Mörder Pianosolo
Mentors.😑
I know that what I might say sound like a stupid stereotype but, it's quite weird to see a black man in the drums with a jimi hendrix shirt :P
