Hello, Father... I am just a kid who wants to be catholic and hey i even want to be a Franciscan or even a Father like you! But i dont think my parents will allow it at all i know its right but i have to wait until i can go to Mass and receive the Eucharist and go to RCIA etc, as theres not much over here in saudi arabia (no im not FROM here but i just live here) Please pray for me I really want your prayers. Please pray for me and my parents as they arent as close to Christ nor do i think they are following Him but its not their fault they just are lost... God bless
I heard someone ask a question to Josemaria about this. If your parents won't let you convert, you need to obey them until you are old enough to move out and be independent. Keep praying though! Just remember to be respectful to the people taking care of you.
I feel so understood. My social anxiety drives my hunger for rules and structure. I'm not so rigid as to not say hello dueing periods of silence, but I probably won't be the one initiating the greeting.
I love how you always invite us to dig deeper and to look below the surface to where our reactions and behaviour are stemming from so that we can address them at the source rather than just at the surface level. I always find your videos so helpful in this way. Thank you, Fr. Mark-Mary.
Oh my goodness!!! This is me, PRECISELY, if I ever had enough self-insight to express it so well!!! I have autism. It’s at the root of my social anxiety, craving for silence, and clinging to the safety of rules in the overwhelming and frightening unpredictability of our world. I wonder if autism might be an underlying (or even undiagnosed) cause for anyone else. Thank you for so generously sharing something that made me feel much less alone.
There is wisdom in what you're saying. Rules set boundaries and establish a comfort zone. When others are not meeting the expectations of the rules it's good to speak with them about how you feel. That takes courage and growth. I see the Holy Spirit at work there. Thank you for sharing your brotherly love in Jesus.
Thats so insightful. This really helps me in my own anxiety when I come across different liturgy/prayer etc. predicable practices/ritual are definitely self soothing for me 😮
Another important dynamic in understanding rules is having the discernment to recognize just vs unjust rules. Gods law vs human/secular/cultural law. There was a time where “rules” said people of different races couldn’t cohabitate, there are “rules” that seek to justify abortion in certain states. There are rules that are abhorrent in this world that are diametrically opposed to Gods law and things that benefit our soul. Blind rule following without discernment is dangerous.
I think for me growing up rules were tumultuous- but now that I’ve come to faith I trust the rules because I trust the rule giver, and I’ve learned to recognise that when I’m having trouble with a rule, it’s because of an underlying belief that is wrong about God ❤ God bless you Fr
I’m going to listen again. I was conflicted. If he’s talking about God’s rules, I agree 100%. But if he’s talking about man’s rules, depending on the importance it is my 100% right. It would vary. But God is sacred.
Rules are part of our lives and start with childhood. There are rules at home, school, the work place, religion and everywhere we go. I might not like all of them, but I am required to abide by them in order to keep peace and not get in trouble.
I am cautious. I usually want to know who made the rule or gave the command and by what authority. If I follow a rule that is morally bad, then it would be offensive to God. If I disobey a legitimate authority, then that also offends God. My eyes are on God. I have had people take authority that wasn’t theirs and I have had people tell me to do immoral things. It is not the norm, but has taught me to actually pay attention to substance more.
I find this interesting. I am not rebellious in any way, but I am the opposite with rules. I feel rules makes us unsafe. As in, we cannot do something in the safest way, or what is for the best because the rules get in the way. I'm good with the 10 commandments. Which I shorten to "don't lie, don't cheat, don't steal, don't kill". I highly depend on the Holy Spirit to get me through. Which works, apparently as everyone sees me as one who follows them all. Anything regarding liturgy, I'm totally there, but other than that, I just try to get along.
It's important to know which rules to follow and discern. I feel like many christians fall into trap of being obedient to wordly rules that are destructive and in dire need of change. God's rules - YES, worldly rules - be wary, but respectful
I don’t know what to make on my position with rules. Maybe someone can help guide me through my thinking. For me, I feel a want to push against rules, but not so much as to break them. Like, I want to know why something is the way it is. Further though, I would feel fear of not meeting up to the expectations of rules because I would be left behind or unloved if I didn’t meet every expectation of a rule. If I fail, then I don’t take the rule I couldn’t meet as seriously. It’d be harder for me to meet that expectation, even if I’d try, because it’s just something to remind myself and those that gave me the rules that I’m not good enough. Does that make sense?
Jesus said the Sabbath was created for man and not man for the Sabbath. The Pharisees made burdens for people that nobody could keep. Jesus allowed his apostles to reap and eat during the Sabbath as they were hungry, etc. the same applies for any work or rule. If we work just for our work and serve it rather than work serving us and others, we have false priorities. The world should be used for the good of the people and people are made to bear God's image. There is a hierarchy that has to be respected and rules serve to ultimately honor this hierarchy and glorify God as its end goal.
Do you mean boundaries when you say rules? I listened, and what I heard when you said "rules" was "boundaries." Please ask Our Lord if that is what you meant to talk about. Thank you for opening your life to help us understand.
I personally don’t like following the rules, the only rules i follow are the 10 commandments, The Laws of Love. But if i gotta be obedient to Cesars rules, ig i’ll be a good citizen of the United States of America and vote red. ❤️🔥✨It’s my first year voting this year, I am 21 years old. Last election i wasn’t old enough, i was only 17 but i was supporting the other party… back then when i was ignorant and based everything off my emotions: Time-out 👇🏾👇🏾
Rules made contrary to the service of the people and God can indeed destroy a people's balance. We need leisure as in time and room to be creative and without creativity, we hinder further conversion for our lives.
Rule breaking aka not putting the star on your brothers arm and putting him on the train. 🙃 ..you put the caveat right. But the average person is dumb about what is JUST.
Dearest Brother, this is one of the most poignant videos you've made. Many viewers will also be highly attentive to keeping rules through our nature or nuturing. With God's help we can learn what rules are Godly and ensuring loving structure and harmony in God or are created by men for disharmony, separating man from man, and his loving God, in fear. Does that resonate. God bless you and thank you.
1 Peter 1:1 KJV "Peter, an Apostle of JESUS CHRIST, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 2 elect according to the foreknowledge of GOD the FATHER through sanctification of the SPIRIT (baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT), unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of JESUS CHRIST (justification): Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. 3 Blessed be the GOD and FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, which according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again (born again) unto a lively hope (salvation) by the resurrection of JESUS CHRIST from the dead, 4 to an inheritance (saved) incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in Heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of GOD through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." (Parenthesis mine) Note: Salvation is incorruptible and undefiled (lasts forever) and it fades not away (lasts forever) and is reserved (lasts forever) for the true believer who is kept (saved forever) by the power of GOD.

Titus 1 KJV 16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. 😢
Obedience is both a Grace and source of Grace. If you keep my commands, you will abide in my love. (john 15:10)
I totally relate to what you're saying, Fr Mark-Mary. Totally. Thank you for sharing this ❤
You are amazing teacher. It is applicable not theoretical. Thank you! Always gain so much from your messages.
Or rules out of just pure pride and wanting to belong. Versus seeing the good they preserve. Thanks God bless !
Wow!!..beautiful words about one aspect of being human. Thank you!

God's rules are for our best interests. And He gave rules for us because He, our Creator, knows us the best and He knows what best for us. ❤
I can completely understand this video. thank you. ✝
Father, this video contributes to my freedom. Thank you.
Really love the insights you're making here, Father. God bless!
I didn’t choose to be reckless, I was chosen.
That’s how I lived most of my life, but I found Jesus and now I try to follow the rules.
What rules are you trying to follow now?
