    I noticed a slight wear mark on my 2013 D4 as well when I first bought it.
    I also noticed a protective sleeve over the hose that lad slid down the hose a bit and was allowing the rubbing to take take.
    It seemed obvious to me that this was what the sleeve was on the hose for.
    Pays to keep a roll of that self amalgamating tape that's specifically designed for temporary repair of a split/burst coolant hose in the vehicle. You just never know ... and you can bet on Murphy's Law.

    We just had that part replaced..the fact is all..as in ALL..the hoses should be changed every 80,000 Miles like clockwork. The Transmission Fluid every 80,000 miles and the Differentials.
    Personally I'd pre-empt at 140,000 miles and go ahead and get a fresh new Radiator.It is a beautiful car..our LR3 has 190K miles

    Cut a 50mm section of the old hose split it length way and slide it over the new hose where the cover rubs.

    • @outbackshadz3809

      It’s very straightforward. Top radiator hose passenger side rubs where the cover sits over it from the passenger side. It will look like there’s plenty of clearance but when motor torques and moves and rubs on the cover.

    • @danhayes3546
      @danhayes3546 3 роки тому

      Yeah probably but on the under side of the cover the sponge over time breaks down and comes off and when you take the cover off the engine you have to take the oil filler cap off and run the risk of the sponge dropping in to the rocker top 👍

    Have had this on mine too, very common issue as you say. Cutting away the top cover where this top tube runs is what any good workshop should do. Also not bad to have the spare part being, LR095544 (top hose). I have also the LR073372 (coolant outlet connector) on hand as these can split too.

    I had the same happened to me mate, was in Stockton when it happened and had to top up the coolant with water 3 times along the way home to Sydney. Actually posted this on the fb channel to warn others. The new Jose is done as it has a slight angle away from the engine cover. Best thing to solve this once and for all is to use a proper Dremel tool to trim the edge of the engine cover. Happy discoing mate, hope to see you on the road.

      @stephenmadone1230 3 роки тому

      @@snigglesdgronch , the engine can rub on the top hose which then @Outback Shadz replaced (PN > LR095544). It is a good idea to cut back the engine cover where this hose runs by some millimeters to enlarge the opening. Cut away some plastic with a sharp knife or cutting tool. I have done this also. The hose itself is about $80-$110 online.

    My son had the same thing happen in Tasmania. Told me to check mine , same cars 2015 Discos . Mine was rubbed half way through. Rang my niece to check theirs. There’s was rubbed half way through. Landrover in Perth said they had never heard of it happening. Yeah Sure ! Landrover agent in Geraldton in Western Australia says they modify the covers regardless of whether owners ask or not. Now taking my car 500kms to get serviced in Geraldton as part of holiday trip.

    Something we are very vigilant about that top hose on the 3.0 and the top radiator connector on both 2.7 and 3.0 and the EGR cooler hose on the LH side of the engine.
    You should bill your mechanic for not catching that hose rubbing

      Go the disco. If you go any other 4wd you need at least 5k-10k to get it off road ready with lift kits and lockers, winch etc. In a disco all you need is tyres and you’re done.

      I had a Landcruiser 200 series before this and spent over 13k repairs on injectors and a blown turbo. There is no such thing as an unbreakable 4wd these days and everything is electronic so just buy a post 2014 model as most of the issues were ironed out but as far as reliability so far thank God its been much more reliable than my Toyota Landcruiser. Every car has its issues relevant to it theres no such thing as the perfect car. But man does this Disco come close.....
