Friedman SB 50 - Small Box Big Sound

- Today i use my cryo tuned Gibson SG together with the Friedman SB 50. The SG sounds after the treatment much better than before. Its more open and playable then before. The Friedman SB50 will do the rest. No further words needed, watch the vid.

Mr. Bibl, I love your show abd have watched quite few episodes and find your tones just awesome and your,playing to be inspiring. A show like this one here makes my chest swelp up just a little bit with pride because you are showcasing some great tones from the Friedman Smallbox. i have one too so it gives me perspective on how great the amp sounds in anothers hands other than my stumpy fingered mitts. i can hardly wait to get home tonite and try my Bearfoot FX Model H, a pissed off Hiwatt is the description generally given this pedal. I think jt will add some attitude and bark which i happen to love. I describe the sound as Bitchy. I cant wait. One final comment. There is no getting around it. Friedmans are expensive. but they are totally worth every penny, and if you open up aSmallbox it will only reinforce my statement . They are very well designed,the components in there are all the best available for their purpose,they are a turret board type of costruction the same type lf construxtion if those legendary vintage Marshalls and Hiwatts, and mine was wired by hand and it was wired beautifully, mostly twisted pairs in atraight lines wirh 90 * angle bends, echoing to me anyways those legendary military spec Hiwatts moreso than the messier old Marahalls. i dont have an electronics degree but I am curious e ough that kne of the first things I have done with every single amolifier i have ever owned, and at the ancient age of 62, ive owned quite a few and the Smallbox is way way up at rhe peak of rhe mountain regarding what U saw inside its the real deal

you are right, there are a few realy fine boutique amp brands out there.
div 13 are also very good amps.

The plexi channel is probably the best plexi tone I've heard personally. The 2nd channel is too, more compressed and gainier.
yes, a real great plexi style amp. can do every thing you want from a rock n roll amp.

This brings to mind the suggestion that Thomas houses the Amp1 in the typical amp head. This also tells us how guitarists get inspired by the familiar.
The Amp1 is a full-blown *amp*. And I can foretell it will sound excellent to your touch, through your rig. What you tweak out of it will be something worth beholding. It takes the Tube Zone very well too.
Great demo! I like the gainer second channel - a little less boomy and more crunchy. But like you said, very versatile.

I was talking with Dave a few years back about building me a "twin" Dirty Shirley (ala twin sis but DS) but then the fire happened, I couldnt wait so I went with Bad Cat Hot Cat. For me the thing with Friedmans is they need to be turned up to sound proper. SG sounds great! Im putting mine in the fridge tonight.

I just got a wildwood edition. Amazing amp, very smooth, loads of mids, both having the vintage and modern tones in one box is amazing. But mine doesnt have thumb. Does that make a lot of change?

@@Biblrocks The wildwood edition has the presence knob on the back instead of the standard SB 50 version. But on my amp there is no thumb knob on the back of the amp as the new standard SB. I wondered if it makes difference a lot or can be compensated with other ways?

I see, there is a 3 channel with s different gain voicing.
So sehr ich (die meisten) Marshalls mag, so wenig mag ich Friedman Amps und Pedale. Irgendwas fehlt mir bei denen im Sound und zu amerikanisch klingen sie für mich auch. Ist natürlich Geschmackssache, jedenfalls nichts für mich.
Tolle Perfomance, wie üblich, natürlich trotzdem!
der small box ist die ausnahme.
