This song is for people who hide there emotions with a smile, the emotions bottle up, until they explode, that is what the singer meant when he said ticking like a time bomb. I was looking for " put on a happy face" for a kids' show and I came across this incredibly sarcastic genious song. What a treat!
This song makes me remember about what my mom tells me. That when I was little, I was always happy, a little ray of sun, so now that I'm grown up and have trauma, she gets mad at me because I'm not happy all the fucking time anymore. So, I feel forced to always fake a smile, laughs, when I'm around her because I want her to love me like she loved that baby.
So this song reminds me when I'm having a bad day, come home from school, and am just like "Put on a happy face, say everything's good, okay lets go."
