Red rising is my absolute favourite series from the last year (and possibly of all time) but I definitely don’t think it’s young adult. Each book in the series gets continually better and some of the most badass female characters as well.

I haven't yet read Harrington's book, but what it sounds like what she is critiquing and warning against are the professional managerial class type feminists. Feminism has effectively been co-opted by the business class, it's not about lifting all women (or people) up but instead is about just having more women in the wealthy powerful minorities at the expense of everyone else. Feminism should be, and is for many, about elevating everyone. The same thing has happened with intersectionality and race. Changing the face, color, gender, whatever, of people in unjust power structures does absolutely nothing to change what they are. There are endless examples of this. Imagine changing the board of director of Goldman Sachs, or Raytheon, to majority of women, black or brown people etc, that does nothing to change what those institutions do. We see it in politics every day. The secretary of defense in the US is an African American man, former general was (is?) on the board of directors for Raytheon!

I used to read a lot, in 2024 I think re-reading the 6 Dune books and Larry Niven's Ringworld series is a worthy goal.
