gyomei didnt die because he was killed by muzan, he died because his demon slayer mark awakened. demon slayers with the mark can only live up to the age of 25, and gyomei was 27 i think? so thats why he died:(
Actually it was both. He used the mark one too many times ( because of his age) and then he used it again during the fight between Muzan and then he sustained injuries and that caused his body to be awakens too much and it couldn't keep up any more so that's why he died. So it's both of them. 🙂
