Ooooohhhhh so true. Did it ever cross your mind that our once proud nation would be so “in the gutter” as it is now? Oh how far we have fallen. The only hope for this nation is JESUS CHRIST. 5/5/2024. Have a BLESSED DAY! Maranatha from Hawaii🌺🙏🏾🎚️🎺🕊️
There will never be groups like this again. The harmony was just incredible! Never will there be an era of time that was as good as the 70s ! Good Times and Great Music! Happy Friday 🥳 Thank you for sharing! 💖
Watching these great soul groups reminds us how respectful and dignified they all were. Music was so uplifting and optimistic back then. We could use music like this now. Amazing!
There’s a spark of magic in your eyes 🎶 Who ever penned this song wrote the perfect first verse to this love song. But finding the right group to sing it was the other part of the equation in making a hit song for the radio listeners. Thanks for the upload TMS to this timeless classic.
Great old skool R&B. Great memories of Motown,James Brown,Sly, Philly Soul,EWF,Prince etc. So great to see these folks on the Midnight Special shows. Great memories of a bygone era..Thanks again to Burt and fam for doing this.
One of those profound musical snapshots that helped create a mental image of what love would be like … or rather, what I hoped love would be like.. when I got older. 💖 Beautiful performance!!
What a romantic song, 🥰 it touches all the little sweet spots for me and now, I’m craving lemon 🍋 meringue pie. Remember this tune very well because of the “Betcha by Golly, Wow”🎶 lyrics, just lovely.
I love the lead singer’s falsetto. I’m guessing that Phillip Bailey listened to him as there are similarities. But when he first starts singing you kind of expect a deeper voice but I guess he’d be considered a tenor.
Thanks for the upload. Love the live performance, sans the typical cheesy piped in fake applause at the end of this song. It degraded this show, and so many more. Curious who owns the Rights to "Midnight Special" today. NBC, the Burt Sugarman family , etc.
@@HellOnWheel 👍. Makes sense. He, or his people, have been active on UA-cam with takedowns over the last year or so. A ton of Midnight Special performances uploaded by others, videos saved to my "70s Live" play list, have been taken down. Zero criticism...if Mr. Sugarman still owns the Rights, he should get the clicks and revenue.
Of course I like as well Prince's version : ua-cam.com/video/6yan0y6O_7E/v-deo.htmlsi=NSqu0l_7ByVu7ZcZ Please post his performance at The Midnight Special... Thanks.
It's nice to know that in our chaotic world there are places we can go and get a moment of serenity like this.

Everything about this song is phenomenal! Wish I was around to experience more of the 70's.
One of my wedding songs in 2022! It was written by Thom Bell and Linda Creed. They created a truly magical song.
Such great music. The 70's music will never be repeated.
Just wonderful. Thank Midnight Special Guys!
Happy 73rd birthday to lead singer/co-founder Russell Thompkins Jr.
Oh, to have a guy say those words to you.😌One of the best groups of the '70s! 💜
Beautiful words, melody, sentiment and vocal artistry. Love this type of music so much.

RIP Thom Bell genius!
The sweet sounds and rhythmic movements of the Mighty Stylisitcs
I’ll say it again: the 1970’s were humankind’s cultural apex
LUV THIS SONG!!!
Love, love, love this. Grew up listening to them from my dad.
A masterclass!
I'm 65 but never heard of these gentlemen before! Great vocals and stage presence 👍Thank you MS for this upload ❤From 🇫🇷 🎶
What planet have you been on?
These lyrics are so beautiful
Man this is beautiful! I hope to see him live this year.
The original boy bands. Motown will never be duplicated. Nothing today even comes close to this music, nothing.
'not from motown, their from philadelphia' the Philly sound"..
These guys make the Pips look like wannabes. They got it goin' on with the moves!

NBC, the Burt Sugarman family , etc.
Good question, so I looked it up. Apparently Burt is still with us at age 84 and still owns the rights to the show.

The Midnight Special only ran until 1981.
@@RockinStacy It was on January 1980...
@@brendamelvoin2043 Prince didn't cover that song until 1996.
@@RockinStacy I know it thanks. 1980 was his performance ("Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad ?") at The Midnight Special.
@@brendamelvoin2043 Ah yes, he wore the skimpy zebra outfit for that performance.
Great harmony, corny choreography.
It was 1973.😂
Not very good drumming.
This arrangement was a shit. No brass, please
