Who was the Jewish person that defiled the temple in 66 through 70 AD? I've never heard of this before and you gave so few details that I'm having trouble finding any sources on the matter. Thank you for any responses.
This is a very good question. Those who hold to this view may speculate that rebels such as Simon Bar Giora, Menahem, or John of Gischala could fit the bill here. We know of their stories through the Jewish historian, Josephus. IMO, this is the most important thing to understand about the man of lawlessness! WE MUST help our brothers and sisters get in the word, (grab your Bibles). Many well intentioned people teach the early rapture without understanding it is NOT IN THE BIBLE and it goes directly against Gods character! I truly agree with God's word and your comment. I too believed the early-rapture theory until i cross-checked it with the Bible and found no such verse of such type. Then i cross-checked the Bible with the preconception of rapture in the first 3.5 years of tribulation, as surely God will not allow His Bride to go through the worst part of Great Tribulation. It was in 2 Thessalonian 2 verse 3 , which says THAT DAY will not come unless the falling away of many comes first.

I agree with you in many ways. I am so sad when I hear people talk about a third Temple "because obviously there must be one for the man of lawlessness to take his place in". In the New Testament, it has made very clear in several verses that the ECCLESIA is the Temple of the Holy spirit. I am still somewhat convinced, although I am still searching about this, that the office of the papacy in general is the man of lawlessness: those who revere whichever is the current pope almost as God and the Catholic viewpoint, such as Mary is pretty much also equal with God and the idea that God is not enough to save. Like I said, my view on who the man of lawlessness is far from concrete, but I have a hard time thinking that it is just our carnal flesh... one of the reasons being that Paul said the man of lawlessness was yet to come, and if the man of lawlessness was carnal flesh, the man of lawlessness would have been in the world for all time immemorial -including Pauld time- because we are are all carnal all the time we are on this Earth

If we align the letter with its Old Testament and New Testament corollaries, the mystery disappears.
