Myanmar’s plan to build a new capital is a lot like Brazil when it moved its capital away from Rio and built a new city from scratch in a more centralized geographic position back in the 50s. Though being a massive white elephant, it actually paid off eventually. Rio is a very important city on itself and it’s better to have the federal government offices and headquarters based somewhere else, besides the new city was an important key to stimulate development and investment further north/inland since Brazil is very demographically unbalanced throughout its region - most people here live on the coast or a few hours drive from the coast. But Brasília well planned though, I don’t know about Naypyidaw.
It's cleaner but hotter and less greener than yangon. It just doesn't have that city atmosphere yangon has, more like an empty countryside but with less trees. Quite a few capital cities in the world are soulless and kind of unnatural. Canberra, Brasilia, Ankara, Riyadh, Pretoria, to name just a few. Although most are not as empty as this.
Brasilia was built because of the same fear: Brazil's capital was Rio, and since Emperor Pedro II, the government feared invasions from hostile nations. Building an inland capital was supposed to provide safety. Needless to say Brazil hasn't been in any war in the last 150 years. So it was kinda a waste of money lol

It kinda looks like a royal palace? Are they going to appoint a monarch there someday? Bring back the old kingdom?
Quite a few capital cities in the world are soulless and kind of unnatural. Canberra, Brasilia, Ankara, Riyadh, Pretoria, to name just a few. Although most are not as empty as this.
I love these places...far away from the maddening crowd...
"...madding crowd..." The expression you're looking for is "...far from the madding crowd...".
I don't get it, whats the exact point why the city is empty and noone live there?
Brasilia was built because of the same fear: Brazil's capital was Rio, and since Emperor Pedro II, the government feared invasions from hostile nations. Building an inland capital was supposed to provide safety. Needless to say Brazil hasn't been in any war in the last 150 years. So it was kinda a waste of money lol
min aung hlaing his dog lives there.
actually Astana Kazakhstan and Ashgabat Turkmenistan is equally bizarre
Maybe there's a pattern here. Countries ruled by authoritarian govt has bizarre cities.
