Interesting video Murph and an interesting concept. So without going into too much detail, just a little bit of context and background for you and the viewers. Since release the Warrior has benefitted from over ten updates, the latest of which appeared in August of 2023 (over two years after release). Some of those updates were very substantial and all require a lot of extra work and extra resource at our end. There comes a point when we have to park things and dedicate our resources elsewhere, otherwise new releases and products for the community would be too thin on the ground to ensure the business remains viable. We only have a finite amount of resource. For the GA aircraft the in-house team generally look after the development of the aircraft but there is also a degree of key work that requires third-party involvement. Our small team and the third parties we work with simply have to move on to other projects and doing that means they then get involved with other projects, all of which take a long time to build, code, get right and release and of course post-release those new projects also require updates and extra work due to the very nature of the business. Pointless trying to isolate the Warrior here to make a point. The same situation plays out for every single release. New sim updates, new third party products etc etc all add to the complex world of FS add-ons and all bring their own issues, predicaments that all present headaches for us and our dev teams. Finding that right balance between continuing development work post release and moving on to other projects, when our team is so small and getting contracted workers to continue that work can be perilous. You will have seen the plethora of new projects we have In development, along with the reaction we get and the moans and groans when delays arise. Imagine the situation if we parked those projects to head back once again to much older projects to embark on further updates. It's a never ending challenge - yes the Warrior and other GA products perhaps start to look a little dated but I'm afraid that's just the way it is, that's inevitable I'm afraid. Older models of anything aren't going to look and operate as good as the very latest models. We can at least console ourselves knowing the Warrior remains the best Warrior out there, that still sells adequate numbers and still receives praise from users. We think and hope we're getting the balance just about right but obviously only time will tell. Thanks for reading.
The only reason this addon is priced so high is because a lot of students use this aircraft for their Private Pilot License irl. That's the same reason the steam gauge c172 is also behind the premium pay wall. I used to fly these aircraft regularly when I worked as a CFI. Great review Murph!
Our pricing has nothing to do whatsoever with the fact that students may or may not use it for their PPL training. The pricing is based on the overall quality and the market conditions upon release. Since the release the Warrior has featured in no less than eight sales where the plane could be picked up for as much as 30% off so there's always the opportunity to pick these aircraft at reduced prices. Thank you.
@@justflight Are these sales typically exclusive to the Just Flight store or on partner sites as well? Any details you can share on a time frame for the next sale? Thanks
@@jhallock Varies, we run two or three major sales a year - Easter, Summer, Black Friday/Christmas. Those sales are usually offered to third parties including MS for the Marketplace. The next sale will run over the Christmas period, definitely from our website and something similar on the Marketplace.
I plan on picking this up during the coming Spring Sale. I have the Turbo Arrows and i love them. The only thing I wish JF would fix is some aspects of the Ground Handling and the Trim Sensitivity not saving.
This used to be my favorite GA aircraft in MSFS, but I guess now that we have the A2A Comanche, it feels a bit dated. Not sure if JF are planning on an update, they probably have their hands full on developing new stuff, such as the Fokker 100 and the Traumahawk :)
The Warrior was the first GA aircraft I ever flew on. My buddy had his licence and he took me up a few times. As a newbie USAF nav systems tech I loved watching the VOR's do their thing. I have this aircraft and I think your review is spot on. I agree an update would be nice. This is a classic aircraft that deserves the love.
This was the first GA aircraft in MSFS that I established as being "my absolute favourite". These days it has been surpassed many times, but I still thing it has stood the test of time. I absolutely agree that it needs an update to be in line with what we have today. It's definitely overpriced in comparison to today's releases.
I love this review series Murph!!! I would love to see more liveries for this plane as many of the freeware liveries have not passed the test of time with all the sim updates.
Thanks so much! Id love to see some more liveries too. The ones shipped with the product are very nice - but its always good to have a few more options
As a new viewer to your channel, I am really late to commenting on this video. But I owned a 1967 Piper PA-28 Cherokee for many years, which is about the same as a Warrior. So I remember buying this aircraft on MSFS when it came out, and I have flown it many times over the last few years. It is still greatly in need of updates. When it came out, giving it a score of 3.5 would have been appropriate, 4.0 if the price was cheaper. But here we are a few years after release, and it is still one of the most expensive GA aircraft on the marketplace, at $45.99. At what you are getting at that price point, and how outdated all of it is, I would rate it at 2.5 at most. I don't like that, I love justflight. I love my aircraft. I want to say this is the greatest thing they ever released. But I also really wanted KSP2, and we don't always get what we want.
That PA28 rego at 0:53 (VH-BVM) is unfortunately in pieces at the airport I work at 😢 undergoing 'permanent' maintenance I believe. Used to be an absolute workhorse, and cross-hired around lots of different schools at YSBK. Love the review! Still prefer a DA40 anyday though haha
Very nice video. Having the Arrows and Warrior, they were good but have had substantial problems with pitch issues that took ages to get updated. Like even the new FMS that finally got added to the 146 took a very long time to finally get implemented. They do good updates no doubt, but they just take way to long to arrive. And with the fleet growing and planes withoutna doubt having to be updated for FS24, i hate to think how long it takes before all the planes will be updated.
Ok, so I got impatient and bought it. It flies well and I do enjoy it as a compliment to the Arrows and the Comanche, but it seems the AP is still bugged. It "can" be a challenge to hand-fly, but it would be nice if it gets fixed.
With all the advancements etc it’s in need of a texture update and a failure package that’s a bit more accurate. Would love to see it have a tune up as performance figures are still a little off but honestly it’s still good enough to get you soloing in 10hours in a real pa28
I still think the PA-28 series from JustFlight is down right the best value GA payware for MSFS. Especially if you want to dip your toes instead of dropping $50 on the Comanche out of the gate.
I’d give this plane a 3.5 as well. It’s just that you know what to expect from a typical Just Flight / Carenado product. Not the best aircraft but certainly not the worst, kinda average I guess? For avid simmers that may not cut it, especially when you compare them with the more “study level” ones. But they do show their age with the lack of updates.
For me, Just Flight tend to be light years ahead of Carenado. Each of their aircraft respond very differently. I think there is enough here for an awesome simulation - just a little patch to bring it up to the current Just Flight standards would be awesome
I don't know why this plane for me is horrid. As soon as I hit the throttle it immediately goes into an extremely unrealistic left tendency, also on landing comes a point that no matter how hard you pull on the yoke the thing will NOT flare. Maybe I just have a bad version haha but to me it hasn't ever worked well. Sadly
I have a lot of aircrafts in MSFS but the C152 and Warrior remains the ones I fly more. I have flown both in RL even if not that much because then I decided for a much more thrilling SPL licence. In fact Pipers snd Cessnas are very stable, easy to fly aircrafts. From my glider pilot point of wiew I call them " flying bricks" but I love seeing them come to land even if by now here in Europe are quite rare. Flying schools are buying european build aircraft with Rotax engines and glass panels.

I giggled at "Traumahawk". Lol!
I remember seeing Just Flight post about adding in storm scopes and some updates for their older aircraft. Let's hope this is on the list
@@RobisonRacing68 best name for a plane LOL

This is the aircraft I did my single engine rating on and I think they did a great job.
It's bringing back fond memories looking at this!
Thanks for the comment and awesome to hear you have flown this irl.

I love how to cockpit windshields are so curved and big, giving you more room to view and scan the environments around you😊😊
Love these new reviewing series!!! My rating would be 3 to 3.5 but it is still a fun plane to fly.

This is a nose heavy aircraft, I find the handling to be pretty realistic. Agree on the textures 👍
@twotonemurphy - I see it's on offer at Just Flight right now for just 18.29 GBP - perhaps a good deal at this price.
100%

Had an aneurysm at the start of the video - I learnt to fly out of cambridge aerodrome! Was wondering why the shots looked so familiar...

I like this aircraft but I can't get the trim wheel to work. It's like it's stuck!
Check the trim settings inside the EFB - there is a slider in there for it

Theres something about the Warrior that really appeals to me. It's a great GA aircraft and plenty of them still in use for training.
