I used to top meters constantly during ICC with arp cap. I never got heroic dbw but I did have heroic dc. By that point youre rocking like 60%+ crit so theres less luck involved.

I agree with most of your comments, especially Feral is a hard class. But if you want to top DPS meters go for a Affliction Lock, NOTHING can beat it. They don't have any burst damage, but the longer the fight lasts the higher their DPS gets. Also, where is the Armor Pen Frost DK? I easily out performed most classes like Hunters, Mages and Warriors...
I personally played dk frost and blood with armor pen and bouth made good dps Blood making more burst when frost making more sustainable damage. But warmane nerfed blood so they was no longer in top 3 charts

Nice video! Speaking about rogues - assasination is awesome in PVP against platers. That envenom does insane dmg. I have all 3 specs - and if sub got some nice survivability, I love asassination and combat. Killing spree with blade flury - daaamn. But I guess I speak more ‘bout pvp...🤦♂️😬🤘😁
I love affliction warlock in wotlk. The rotation is so smooth and you dont have much downtime in dps when you life tap thanks to their dots. And free shadowbolts for days. As for melee...enchancement shaman. I love the rotation and the feel of the class. The closest wow ever got to a battlemage type of class, mixing magic with skullbashing in such a flawless fashion. And no mana problems thanks to that cooldown...primal rage i think. The one that reduces damage taken and grants mana per melee hit. I dont really care about the dps, i care for how it feels to play a certain class. Remember, its a game not a job.
Eyy, I do too love enhancement, we've played it a little and will continue to do so whilst getting gud at it, it really does miss some DPS end game but it truely is a joy to play, Dunno about affliction but im hyped to try that aswell at some point :D
@@AwbeeX57 you have to try it dude. It feels good, not as clunky and boring as other casters. And if you have fast hands, you dot everything and just spam seed of corruption. The aoe is insane. Other casters might do more dps overall, but this feels so nice to play. And its stupid fun on battlegrounds, dotting everyone.
Speaking from my own experience I think Frostfire mage with bis gear is the number 1 single target DPS. I've pulled insane numbers as that and always topped the dmg meter when I used to play PvE.
I freaking love FFB myself, but in order to remove some confusion i decided eh, its a coin flip on RNG really, and i didn't want to include both of them on nr1 and nr2 :o
Definitely viable and wanted... you won't be top dps but a Shaman is not all about dps since it brings so many buffs and juicy utility. With that said though, really getting your rotation down (especially in aoe scenarios) can produce a big difference in how much damage you do (if you get good you definitely pull your own). Eventually you get to a point where mana is no longer much of a concern and can both cast chain lightning on cd, as well as pick up a talent to buff fire nova for more aoe damage. Typically, it is a choice between them and a boomkin for the passive spell crit buff. Ele and Balance are the only specs that provide this, and it is a big deal since the top ranged spec (Fire TTW) gets a huge benefit from the extra spell crit. Plus, Ele/Balance tends to naturally have a high amount of crit (talents account for much of it) so it also makes you a GREAT target for the mage's Focus Magic. As well as the spell crit buff, Shamans are the only class that provide bloodlust, so every group wants AT LEAST one shaman of any kind for that. Ele and resto shaman also tend to run with Wrath of Air totem that increases spell haste and, again, are the only two specs who can provide this buff, which helps both the caster dps AND the healers. Let alone totem of Wrath (which you will always have down unless needing to aoe with magma totem/fire nova) is the highest flat amount of spell damage added to the entire raid (the demo warlock's demonic pact is a 10% increase with a CD, so they stack) AND also adds an extra 3% crit for any attack to everyone. You can also alter what totems you are dropping to make up for what is missing with the comp and to bring different buffs if there is another shaman in the group. The stoneskin totem which adds armor STACKS with devotion aura from a paladin and mana totem is equivalent to blessing of wisdom (if wisdom is up drop a healing totem since those stack, the priority is imp bow>bow>resto mana totem with talents>untalented mana totem), BUT those are a different buff than replenishment (usually provided by Shadow priest or Ret) so those can stack. Most of the time a paladin has Wisdom covered (and they also take priority over your elemental resistance totems), in which case you drop a healing totem for water and add a nice amount of extra healing to your party that adds up over time. Doing a dungeon and all the dps are melee? If there is no DK, you can drop Strength of Earth totem that increases Str and Agi and Windfury totem that increases melee haste. Is the tank kind of squishy? You can instead choose to drop Stoneskin totem instead. Do these adds fear? Drop a tremor totem. Is the healer in the group not able to dispel poisons or a nasty disease? You got this shit. Did the boss put up a buff that could wipe the group? Imma just purge this thank me later. THIS is where Shamans shine, and none of it is about the numbers on recount. Between an interrupt with a 6 sec. CD and grounding totem, you are probably the best equipped ranged to interrupt spells. Everyone brings buffs to the table, but you can ADAPT what you do make the whole group better. So yeah... they are definitely viable regardless of composition. Learning what buffs stack and what does not, as well as what specs provide certain buffs, is a big part of getting all the value you can out of them. It's a LOT to remember, but once you get it down your ability to buff is on par with paladins. Fire is always totem of Wrath, water is usually mana if no paladin giving people wisdom and healing if they do. If only one paladin, kings is the superior buff in which case you cover it with mana totem. Air is Wrath of Air (too juicy to want to pass up) unless you are super melee heavy in which case if your healer isn't struggling to keep the tank up you can drop Windfury; slightly sacrificing your own DPS to greatly increase the group's.
Found my little cheat sheet I made for 3.3.5a Ele! Hope it helps! 3.3.5 Ele Rotation Priorities Single Target: 1. Keep Flame Shock up (do not clip unless it would otherwise drop off before a Lava Burst would finish casting, in which case you should only lose 1 tick). 2. Lava Burst on CD 3. Fill with Lightning Bolt **Note: Chain Lightning can be used directly after Lava Burst (usu LvB, LB, CL to account for travel time but varies based on haste) provided you have the mana and current haste levels do not prevent Lava Burst from being cast as soon as it is available. If Lava Burst would come off CD before the end of a cast of Lightning Bolt, it is always a DPS increase to weave in a single cast of Chain Lightning instead (due to its shorter cast time). In any event, the largest DPS increase can be had by using Lava Burst as soon as possible, and delaying it is the worst thing you can do. If mana permits, Chain Lightning on CD becomes your #3 priority after flame shock/lava burst even on single target fights. Two Targets: 1. Lava Burst on CD (Flame Shock must be up and refreshed on at least one target) 2. Chain Lightning on CD 3. Fire Nova (if totem is in range and mana permits; unlikely to occur) 4. Keep Flame Shock on 2nd target (provided Lava Burst, Chain Lightning, and Fire Nova are not delayed and target will live for at least 10 seconds) 5. Fill with Lightning Bolt Three Targets: 1. Chain Lightning on CD 2. Lava Burst (Flame Shock must be up on at least one target and kept up) 3. Fire Nova (if totem is in range and mana permits) 4. Keep Flame Shock on other two targets provided they will live for 10 seconds 5. Fill with Lightning Bolt **NOTE: this assumes the targets will live for some time. With targets that will die quickly, ignore dots and Lava Burst. Four or more: 1. Fire Nova (must have totem in range. At four targets you want to be close to tank before pull to reduce time otherwise lost running into melee; plan ahead! Four or more targets is the ONLY time you will use Magma totem instead of totem of Wrath; ensure buff from glyph is active and drop and recall totem of Wrath well before pull if it has fallen off) 2. Chain Lightning on CD 3. Lava Burst (Flame Shock must be up on at least one target and kept up) 4. Fill with Lightning Bolt **Note: Keeping Flame Shock up on as many targets as possible is a DPS increase provided they will live for at least 10 seconds, mana permits, and Fire Nova, Chain Lightning, and Lava Burst are not delayed. This takes priority over Lightning Bolt. If casting Lightning Bolt will delay any higher priority it can be superior dps to ignore filling with Lightning Bolt and just wait. It takes practice to judge but can yield superior results. (cont)
Movement priority on all number of targets: 1. Placing new totems if expired, followed by Water Shield if it has completely fallen off (saving those GCDs since you had to move anyway). 2. Placing a new Flame Shock on a target that does not currently have one, or refreshing on that is falling off (provided they will live for at least 10 seconds, and you are not clipping except when Lava Burst is coming off CD and would otherwise be delayed), is superior in terms of overall DPS. 3. Fire Nova is preferred next, even on single target, if totems are in range and mana permits. It is a DPS loss on single target to run into melee to drop totems there, so this is only useful on fights where you have to stack near boss anyway. This is also especially taxing on mana depending on gear. 4. Frost Shock if none of the above criteria is met, and you will not have to refresh Flame Shock again before the shared CD comes back up (note you must be within 25 yard range, and if you have 4 piece bonus from tier 10 you will not want to refresh Flame Shock early, where this can quite useful). 5. Use Thunderstorm if none of the above options are available or needed for mana. If mana is an issue, this becomes #3 priority. 6. Refresh Water Shield (if below 4 stacks) saving that GCD. 7. Refresh Totems if fight is longer than 5 min, saving a single GCD for every additional 5 minutes a fight lasts. Totems: Earth: Stoneskin should always be used by default. It stacks with Devotion Aura from Paladin and is raid wide. Strength of Earth can be used if there is no Enhancement Shaman or DK and you are melee heavy and tanks are well geared. Tremor Totem is situational and should be used if fear is used in fights like Auriaya and Blood Queen. Note that this only effects your party (not entire raid). Earthbind Totem is situational and can slow (root if talented) certain mobs such as Deathbringer Saurfang. Other classes are better at providing slows (like hunters) since they do not give up a raid wide buff to do so. Fire: Totem of Wrath is default. It should be used at least every 5 minutes to gain the benefit of the glyph. If using Fire Elemental on a boss make sure this totem is dropped first for the buff. Fire Elemental Totem can be a DPS increase provided another Elemental Shaman is present. This should be rotated every other boss fight to get the most out of it while still providing Totem of Wrath buff. Magma Totem can be used on AoE heavy fights (must drop it close to mobs to do so, DPS loss to run to melee), but only if Demonology Warlock is present. Otherwise, it is only used on trash fights if mana permits (make sure Totem of Wrath buff is present even on trash). Frost resistance should be provided by a Paladin; you can use the totem if none is available, but it will be a DPS loss. Water: Healing Stream Totem is used by default. Mana Spring Totem is only used if you do not have a Paladin providing Blessing of Wisdom. Fire resistance should always be provided by a Paladin; you can use the totem if none is available, but it will be a DPS loss. Air: Wrath of Air is default. Only Elemental and Restoration Shamans provide this buff. Windfury Totem can be used if two casting Shaman (Ele and/or Resto) are in the raid and there are no Frost DKs. This is generally avoided and only used by Enhancement Shaman due to it being buffed for them by talents. Nature resistance Totem is only useful on Anub'arak (ideally another Shaman would be providing Wrath of Air). It is preferred over Hunter's Aspect of the Wild and does not stack with it. If no other Wrath of Air, Hunter should cover the buff. (cont)
Stats: Hit to cap (14%=368)>Spellpower>Haste>Crit>Int This assumes you have 30% base chance to crit (before Totem of Wrath). If you are below 30%, crit should be prioritized over haste. MP5 provides almost no bonus, and Spirit provides NO bonus. These stats should be avoided if possible, especially since crit provides mana efficiency. Draenei only need 13% hit (342). Moonkin and Shadowpriest provide an additional 3% hit from their spell debuffs (meaning 11%=289, or for Draenei 10%=263). However, you cannot guarantee always having one in a raid or heroic dungeon, so this additional 3% should not be relied upon to reach hit cap in most cases. Gems: Meta= Chaotic Skyflare Diamond Red=Runed Cardinal Ruby Blue=Glowing Dreadstone (only 2 for the meta bonus, and on pieces which provide highest SP socket bonuses); if 2 for meta is met, use Runed Cardinal Ruby instead Yellow=Reckless Ametrine *If below hit cap, gems such as Veiled Ametrine can be used for yellow slots, and Vivid Eye of Zul for blue. This should be avoided and only used if current gear cannot provide enough hit. Glyphs: Lightning Bolt Totem of Wrath Lava For minor glyphs, Water Shield and Reincarnation are the only ones that provide a bonus for raiding. Glyph of Thunderstorm can be taken if you are worried about the knockback effect, and can theoretically be useful in aoe if filling with Lightning Bolt would delay higher priorities. **Note: Glyph of Flametongue is a small DPS increase over Lava if there is NO movement; but this is minimal and such a fight is unlikely to occur. Lava is the safer bet and does not require one to carry stacks of both.
Hi Awbee, I've been watching a few of your videos to get an idea of the relative positioning of classes in Wrath to make plans for Classic WotLK. One thing that I've found all these DPS rankings have in common is they always talk about bosses and bosses only. In TBC / Classic, however, trash DPS is quite important too. For example, Hunters find themselves behind Mages, Warlocks, and even Fury warriors often in TBC despite better single target DPS due to their worse AoE / Cleave capability. Do you have any opinion on best "overall" classes when factoring in both single target and AoE? In TBC, mages, warlocks, and fury warriors dominate (roughly in that order, although it is raid dependent). I'm suspecting a similar story will unfold in Wrath (with exception of warlocks falling off a bit), but am curious to hear your thoughts since I respect your opinion much more than most.
I recently made a script that covers this... the problem is i have made a lot of scripts and not many videos :p I could say its in the works... that'd be lying though, I have the script ready theres that :P I can tell you that is looks COMPLETELY DIFFERENT then this list and the way I summarized the list was "top 5 most IMPORTANT" classes.

The only thing I feel uncertain about is if the video idea you are discussing is what I was discussing because the word "important" implies that your video idea is about classes that provide the most combined raid utility + dps (e.g: demo lock would be a good fit for this category). I'm focused more on trying to identify which classes / specs are topping the overall dps meters for the entire raid, including trash, regardless of whether they bring utility or not. I would love if you did a video on that some time.

I played an assassin rogue in wrath and at least up to 25 normal ICC there was never anyone who out dps'd me. Not saying I'm the best rogue or that the dps in my guild was a standard to go by....but that was my experience. Not sure if it holds up in 25 ICC heroic.
My personal top 5 1 Fury war (with smourne) and BIS / fire mage BIS 2 Fury War BIS with a cat 3 Rogue BIS 4 Cat BIS 5 MM Hunter BIS Or 1 Fire mage BIS 2 Cat BIS (if he is good playing it) / Rogue assasination BIS 3 Fury War BIS / Cat BIS (if he is just a normal player) 4 MM Hunter BIS 5 Ret pally BIS or DK Frost BIS Or 1 Cat (depending the skill he's top 1 or 3) 2 Rogue 3 Fire mage 4 War Fury 5 MM Hunter
We're gearing one right now, never played it when i had made this video and from what i had seen they don't really crack that top 5 unless they can cheese free aoe dmg.
Man you should rly know that for hunters vrykul from is bis because the agility buff from that form is basically taunka and dwarf form combined since agility is crit and attack power and you have a talent that increase your agility by 4% as a marksman
They are alright on some fights like twin valkyr but single target i've seen many more mages, warriors, rogues etc on top over a blood dk on alot of fights, besides that a Blood DK is a very selfish class that doesnt bring any buffs to the raid that you wouldn't have in a good raiding setup.
Blood Dks were pretty bad in terms of dps. DKs on our server on live rarely got shadowmoon anyway, since frost was the dominant dps spec and only a handful of players played unholy.
Speaking of Feral druid I do remember 1 guy from Icecrown named Hainy boy that guy was always in top 3 on single target DPS in 25hc LOD and Halion.. Sick guy, there was 1 more guy that played Feral very well but i can't remember his name either way nice video cheers m8!

Agree completely ferals and enha shapmans have hardest dps rotations but bouth of them have very satisfying little wins as enha you can support your raid group with heals and with feral ressing dead raiders doing so saving the day :) with enha i manage to get to top 5 dps but it was hard as hell
damage is overrated, fun is more important, I consider balance to be more fun myself but thats just my personal opinion. This does add to a point though, whatever you will have more fun at playing, you will do better at, simple as that
You all talk abot dps yea balance is more wp on burst dps but on dmg done spriest is better imagine fight on sindragosa or lk what balance can do vs spriest ? Nothing all dots from spriest do dmg even when you have to move for dmg done single target wich is more imoortant then dps best class fire mage afly lock furry warr combat rogue my opinion

Actually I dislike it, its the worst kind of RNG, mana management is only a thing on RS and LoD, and the squishyness makes it feel punishing to get unlucky.
I recently got myself a mage and it is far more than just fireball once you get more into it. I would even go as far as saying that ttw mage is one of the most skill dependend speccs in the game. properly using spellque, maximizing the time you can cast by positioning smart and only moving during your gcd. properly lining up your internal with external cds and having living bomb explode in the right moment and much much more. I know decent mages who got bis gear and pull like 11k dps on pp hc, while I also know amazing mages who pull 15k+ on the same fight with the same gear. with just spamming fireball and even using pyro proccs you wont get over 8k in bis gear there.
@@allylilith5605 Yeah skill is always gonna be taken into consideration, movement, positioning, gcd min maxing, combing cd's with procs, theres alot of ways to inch a little bit ahead of the competition, I still don't like the RNG nature of a TTW, if you compare it with something like a Shadow Priest then the Spriest is more "fun" in my opinion, it cranks all your points up to 11 while not needing any RNG.
Very opinionated. Arcane, shadow, Ret, assassination, and feral (not in that order) did the most damage. There’s many videos of arcane mages doing over 20k dps.
It is but it has some painful RNG inform of the spell hit cap for Pestilence and the Killing machine / Rime procs, if all goes well they have immaculate potential, it just doesnt happen that often.
i think Dk is pretty much like paladin and enchacement shaman, offers some buffs to raid due to how much WoW need to balance pure dps due to utility-dps DK offers some important buffs ~~ Like i just wonder

Yeah nowadays TTW is better, When I made this list I was still under the assumption FFB was better because on warmane due to several bugs, FFB was better. I'll make some new Top 5 DPS lists soon though, I've got a refreshed opinion about a few things.. and more editing skillz kek

I got Frost DK dps there. i outdps almost all those furies and UHoly dks with their shadowmournies in the server. Am i breaking your theory of top dps classes?

I started a week ago as a solo player and I'm having a fucking blast. Economy is mega inflated too, I grabbed mining early on and was able to learn all my flying skills with thousands to spare

TTW mages probably surpasses fury in single target, just maybe, cause i have to admit they have ridiculous single target damage (kinda broken tbh)...however, fury warriors surpasses any other clases in total dps...well it depends on the server ur playing too i guess...
no, mages surpases in all damage, ever seen a fire mage living bomb 20 mobs??? no other class can pull than insane dps. living bomb activates, then its pyro pyro and so on....
@@plutosghost6713 Yeah just because they aren't in the top 5 DPS meta doesn't mean they are useless, they are very very good infact and you need their utility in the raid. Don't stress about your class not being in the top 5, you should start to worry if your DPS class is in the top 5 worst DPS classes :D
Speaking of feral druid, i remember when i burst 37k on saurfang before overaggroing the tank :D Or when i burst 19k dps on HC training dummy. they're crazy.
I feel like fury warrior should be top 1 just because you will be top 1 dps in meter in majority of the fight in ICC , and ofcourse top dps in Lk 25hc which is the most important fights imo
Well especially on The Lich King, Mages will have several more million damage done to Lich King specifically, which is the reason i put them as nr 1, Fury warriors can cleave all they want but usually it doesn't directly impact the bosses' health.

On the same line of thinking, maybe renaming the video is a good idea, because damage done and dps are diferent matters if you are counting only damage to single targets on fights with several aoe targets that need to be killed and a very specific class are espected to be the one cleaving then to the death, and if not.. well mistakes were made. Especially because on LK fight Fury warriors in a big part of the fight drop the Heroic Strike for Cleave just to help finishing the "trash mobs", and that have a hella big diference on theyr final damage >on the boss< in the end of the encounter, plus all the damage meele classes lose betwen transitions were spell casters with teleport have almost (well... kinda of) no downtime. Plus, it is not like cleaving the mobs don't have a positive impact on the boss fight, often we hear "aoe the trash bcoz transition this and that bla bla". Consider those things.
You can't make a "top dps classes" list based on your opinion. Topkek. They either do more damage than other classes or they don't. Your opinion shouldn't even be a factor here. What makes you think you're qualified to make such a list when you even say "huurr Idk anything about x spec etc but this is my opinion blah blah" This is like making an opinion based video on "top 5 fastest cars" and and only putting the cars you know on the list and then say "idk anything about x engine so I didn't incl it and this is my opinion".

everytime you crit with one of ur fire spell, the target gets this debuff, whereas the target takes dmg over time for a few seconds. the amount of dmg is a percentage of ur spell power. if u have optimal crit rate on ur mage, u can keep this debuff up on the target all the time. thats pretty op

Good times…I used to play a troll arcane mage in wrath and was usually always #1 on the charts. PvP was also insanely fun as arcane especially in bgs just 100-0 someone with the insane burst.

I love those classes because 5. Hunter - they have pet 4. Druid - shapeshifting is imba 3. Rogue - "you cant see me" 2. Warrior - plate armor and 2 two-handed weapons are cool 1. Mage - shooting fire, ice, arcane from hands, their staff just a decoration
I find affliction warlock to be the most complete dps spec in the game, having by far the best toolkit to work with. Great single target, great at cleave (mutidoting, can cleave at range), great at mass aoe, and the best execute in the game. Able to top in every raid scenario. Scaling is also great (not as broken as ttw mage scaling but still very good). His only enemy is the threat meter, as he doesn't have good tools for aggro mamagement, and he cant stop dps because dots, and also he has a high skill celling, especialy when 2 or more targets are in play. He is also very fun, give it a shot.
No, the only thing you get from afflication warlock is some soyboy making problems the whole raid cause hes not getting the perfect ToT or PI when he desires it. Affli potentially can be good, but human nature deletes any chance for it to be good AND decent.
Nah, Afflic warlocks are just ticking time bombs, not once have I seen a affli warlock that both topped and wasn't a giant pepega and I have seen alot.@@eply995
@@AwbeeX57 sounds like a guild issue. People used to say affli sucks, and I told them he will remain consistently among the top performing specs at classic wotlk. Try and guess who was right. Warmane is not much different, affliction works as intended. As for the soyboys and bad players, i hope you understand most people have alts, and those affli locks you saw could also be warrior, hunter or rogue mains.
I used to top meters constantly during ICC with arp cap. I never got heroic dbw but I did have heroic dc. By that point youre rocking like 60%+ crit so theres less luck involved.

I agree with most of your comments, especially Feral is a hard class. But if you want to top DPS meters go for a Affliction Lock, NOTHING can beat it. They don't have any burst damage, but the longer the fight lasts the higher their DPS gets. Also, where is the Armor Pen Frost DK? I easily out performed most classes like Hunters, Mages and Warriors...

I personally played dk frost and blood with armor pen and bouth made good dps Blood making more burst when frost making more sustainable damage. But warmane nerfed blood so they was no longer in top 3 charts

Nice video! Speaking about rogues - assasination is awesome in PVP against platers. That envenom does insane dmg. I have all 3 specs - and if sub got some nice survivability, I love asassination and combat. Killing spree with blade flury - daaamn. But I guess I speak more ‘bout pvp...🤦♂️😬🤘😁

I love affliction warlock in wotlk. The rotation is so smooth and you dont have much downtime in dps when you life tap thanks to their dots. And free shadowbolts for days. As for melee...enchancement shaman. I love the rotation and the feel of the class. The closest wow ever got to a battlemage type of class, mixing magic with skullbashing in such a flawless fashion. And no mana problems thanks to that cooldown...primal rage i think. The one that reduces damage taken and grants mana per melee hit. I dont really care about the dps, i care for how it feels to play a certain class. Remember, its a game not a job.
Eyy, I do too love enhancement, we've played it a little and will continue to do so whilst getting gud at it, it really does miss some DPS end game but it truely is a joy to play, Dunno about affliction but im hyped to try that aswell at some point :D
@@AwbeeX57 you have to try it dude. It feels good, not as clunky and boring as other casters. And if you have fast hands, you dot everything and just spam seed of corruption. The aoe is insane. Other casters might do more dps overall, but this feels so nice to play. And its stupid fun on battlegrounds, dotting everyone.

Speaking from my own experience I think Frostfire mage with bis gear is the number 1 single target DPS. I've pulled insane numbers as that and always topped the dmg meter when I used to play PvE.

Definitely viable and wanted... you won't be top dps but a Shaman is not all about dps since it brings so many buffs and juicy utility. With that said though, really getting your rotation down (especially in aoe scenarios) can produce a big difference in how much damage you do (if you get good you definitely pull your own). Eventually you get to a point where mana is no longer much of a concern and can both cast chain lightning on cd, as well as pick up a talent to buff fire nova for more aoe damage.
Typically, it is a choice between them and a boomkin for the passive spell crit buff. Ele and Balance are the only specs that provide this, and it is a big deal since the top ranged spec (Fire TTW) gets a huge benefit from the extra spell crit. Plus, Ele/Balance tends to naturally have a high amount of crit (talents account for much of it) so it also makes you a GREAT target for the mage's Focus Magic. As well as the spell crit buff, Shamans are the only class that provide bloodlust, so every group wants AT LEAST one shaman of any kind for that. Ele and resto shaman also tend to run with Wrath of Air totem that increases spell haste and, again, are the only two specs who can provide this buff, which helps both the caster dps AND the healers. Let alone totem of Wrath (which you will always have down unless needing to aoe with magma totem/fire nova) is the highest flat amount of spell damage added to the entire raid (the demo warlock's demonic pact is a 10% increase with a CD, so they stack) AND also adds an extra 3% crit for any attack to everyone.
You can also alter what totems you are dropping to make up for what is missing with the comp and to bring different buffs if there is another shaman in the group. The stoneskin totem which adds armor STACKS with devotion aura from a paladin and mana totem is equivalent to blessing of wisdom (if wisdom is up drop a healing totem since those stack, the priority is imp bow>bow>resto mana totem with talents>untalented mana totem), BUT those are a different buff than replenishment (usually provided by Shadow priest or Ret) so those can stack. Most of the time a paladin has Wisdom covered (and they also take priority over your elemental resistance totems), in which case you drop a healing totem for water and add a nice amount of extra healing to your party that adds up over time.
Doing a dungeon and all the dps are melee? If there is no DK, you can drop Strength of Earth totem that increases Str and Agi and Windfury totem that increases melee haste. Is the tank kind of squishy? You can instead choose to drop Stoneskin totem instead. Do these adds fear? Drop a tremor totem. Is the healer in the group not able to dispel poisons or a nasty disease? You got this shit. Did the boss put up a buff that could wipe the group? Imma just purge this thank me later. THIS is where Shamans shine, and none of it is about the numbers on recount. Between an interrupt with a 6 sec. CD and grounding totem, you are probably the best equipped ranged to interrupt spells. Everyone brings buffs to the table, but you can ADAPT what you do make the whole group better. So yeah... they are definitely viable regardless of composition.
Learning what buffs stack and what does not, as well as what specs provide certain buffs, is a big part of getting all the value you can out of them. It's a LOT to remember, but once you get it down your ability to buff is on par with paladins. This is the best list I've found:

It doesn't include Stoneskin totem or a Paladin's devotion aura... keep in mind those stack so it is your go to for earth. Fire is always totem of Wrath, water is usually mana if no paladin giving people wisdom and healing if they do. If only one paladin, kings is the superior buff in which case you cover it with mana totem. Air is Wrath of Air (too juicy to want to pass up) unless you are super melee heavy in which case if your healer isn't struggling to keep the tank up you can drop Windfury; slightly sacrificing your own DPS to greatly increase the group's.

3.3.5 Ele Rotation Priorities
Single Target:
1. Keep Flame Shock up (do not clip unless it would otherwise drop off before a Lava Burst would finish casting, in which case you should only lose 1 tick).
2. Lava Burst on CD
3. Fill with Lightning Bolt
**Note: Chain Lightning can be used directly after Lava Burst (usu LvB, LB, CL to account for travel time but varies based on haste) provided you have the mana and current haste levels do not prevent Lava Burst from being cast as soon as it is available. If Lava Burst would come off CD before the end of a cast of Lightning Bolt, it is always a DPS increase to weave in a single cast of Chain Lightning instead (due to its shorter cast time). In any event, the largest DPS increase can be had by using Lava Burst as soon as possible, and delaying it is the worst thing you can do. If mana permits, Chain Lightning on CD becomes your #3 priority after flame shock/lava burst even on single target fights.
Two Targets:
1. Lava Burst on CD (Flame Shock must be up and refreshed on at least one target)
2. Chain Lightning on CD
3. Fire Nova (if totem is in range and mana permits; unlikely to occur)
4. Keep Flame Shock on 2nd target (provided Lava Burst, Chain Lightning, and Fire Nova are not delayed and target will live for at least 10 seconds)
5. Fill with Lightning Bolt
Three Targets:
1. Chain Lightning on CD
2. Lava Burst (Flame Shock must be up on at least one target and kept up)
3. Fire Nova (if totem is in range and mana permits)
4. Keep Flame Shock on other two targets provided they will live for 10 seconds
5. Fill with Lightning Bolt
**NOTE: this assumes the targets will live for some time. With targets that will die quickly, ignore dots and Lava Burst.
Four or more:
1. Fire Nova (must have totem in range. At four targets you want to be close to tank before pull to reduce time otherwise lost running into melee; plan ahead! Four or more targets is the ONLY time you will use Magma totem instead of totem of Wrath; ensure buff from glyph is active and drop and recall totem of Wrath well before pull if it has fallen off)
2. Chain Lightning on CD
3. Lava Burst (Flame Shock must be up on at least one target and kept up)
4. Fill with Lightning Bolt
**Note: Keeping Flame Shock up on as many targets as possible is a DPS increase provided they will live for at least 10 seconds, mana permits, and Fire Nova, Chain Lightning, and Lava Burst are not delayed. This takes priority over Lightning Bolt. If casting Lightning Bolt will delay any higher priority it can be superior dps to ignore filling with Lightning Bolt and just wait. It takes practice to judge but can yield superior results.

Movement priority on all number of targets:
1. Placing new totems if expired, followed by Water Shield if it has completely fallen off (saving those GCDs since you had to move anyway).
2. Placing a new Flame Shock on a target that does not currently have one, or refreshing on that is falling off (provided they will live for at least 10 seconds, and you are not clipping except when Lava Burst is coming off CD and would otherwise be delayed), is superior in terms of overall DPS.
3. Fire Nova is preferred next, even on single target, if totems are in range and mana permits. It is a DPS loss on single target to run into melee to drop totems there, so this is only useful on fights where you have to stack near boss anyway. This is also especially taxing on mana depending on gear.
4. Frost Shock if none of the above criteria is met, and you will not have to refresh Flame Shock again before the shared CD comes back up (note you must be within 25 yard range, and if you have 4 piece bonus from tier 10 you will not want to refresh Flame Shock early, where this can quite useful).
5. Use Thunderstorm if none of the above options are available or needed for mana. If mana is an issue, this becomes #3 priority.
6. Refresh Water Shield (if below 4 stacks) saving that GCD.
7. Refresh Totems if fight is longer than 5 min, saving a single GCD for every additional 5 minutes a fight lasts.
Totems:
Earth:
Stoneskin should always be used by default. It stacks with Devotion Aura from Paladin and is raid wide.
Strength of Earth can be used if there is no Enhancement Shaman or DK and you are melee heavy and tanks are well geared.
Tremor Totem is situational and should be used if fear is used in fights like Auriaya and Blood Queen. Note that this only effects your party (not entire raid).
Earthbind Totem is situational and can slow (root if talented) certain mobs such as Deathbringer Saurfang. Other classes are better at providing slows (like hunters) since they do not give up a raid wide buff to do so.
Fire:
Totem of Wrath is default. It should be used at least every 5 minutes to gain the benefit of the glyph. If using Fire Elemental on a boss make sure this totem is dropped first for the buff.
Fire Elemental Totem can be a DPS increase provided another Elemental Shaman is present. This should be rotated every other boss fight to get the most out of it while still providing Totem of Wrath buff.
Magma Totem can be used on AoE heavy fights (must drop it close to mobs to do so, DPS loss to run to melee), but only if Demonology Warlock is present. Otherwise, it is only used on trash fights if mana permits (make sure Totem of Wrath buff is present even on trash).
Frost resistance should be provided by a Paladin; you can use the totem if none is available, but it will be a DPS loss.
Water:
Healing Stream Totem is used by default.
Mana Spring Totem is only used if you do not have a Paladin providing Blessing of Wisdom.
Fire resistance should always be provided by a Paladin; you can use the totem if none is available, but it will be a DPS loss.
Air:
Wrath of Air is default. Only Elemental and Restoration Shamans provide this buff.
Windfury Totem can be used if two casting Shaman (Ele and/or Resto) are in the raid and there are no Frost DKs. This is generally avoided and only used by Enhancement Shaman due to it being buffed for them by talents.
Nature resistance Totem is only useful on Anub'arak (ideally another Shaman would be providing Wrath of Air). It is preferred over Hunter's Aspect of the Wild and does not stack with it. If no other Wrath of Air, Hunter should cover the buff.

Stats:
Hit to cap (14%=368)>Spellpower>Haste>Crit>Int
This assumes you have 30% base chance to crit (before Totem of Wrath). If you are below 30%, crit should be prioritized over haste.
MP5 provides almost no bonus, and Spirit provides NO bonus. These stats should be avoided if possible, especially since crit provides mana efficiency.
Draenei only need 13% hit (342). Moonkin and Shadowpriest provide an additional 3% hit from their spell debuffs (meaning 11%=289, or for Draenei 10%=263). However, you cannot guarantee always having one in a raid or heroic dungeon, so this additional 3% should not be relied upon to reach hit cap in most cases.
Gems:
Meta= Chaotic Skyflare Diamond
Red=Runed Cardinal Ruby
Blue=Glowing Dreadstone (only 2 for the meta bonus, and on pieces which provide highest SP socket bonuses); if 2 for meta is met, use Runed Cardinal Ruby instead
Yellow=Reckless Ametrine
*If below hit cap, gems such as Veiled Ametrine can be used for yellow slots, and Vivid Eye of Zul for blue. This should be avoided and only used if current gear cannot provide enough hit.
Glyphs:
Lightning Bolt
Totem of Wrath
Lava
For minor glyphs, Water Shield and Reincarnation are the only ones that provide a bonus for raiding. Glyph of Thunderstorm can be taken if you are worried about the knockback effect, and can theoretically be useful in aoe if filling with Lightning Bolt would delay higher priorities.
**Note: Glyph of Flametongue is a small DPS increase over Lava if there is NO movement; but this is minimal and such a fight is unlikely to occur. Lava is the safer bet and does not require one to carry stacks of both.

I've been watching a few of your videos to get an idea of the relative positioning of classes in Wrath to make plans for Classic WotLK. One thing that I've found all these DPS rankings have in common is they always talk about bosses and bosses only. In TBC / Classic, however, trash DPS is quite important too. For example, Hunters find themselves behind Mages, Warlocks, and even Fury warriors often in TBC despite better single target DPS due to their worse AoE / Cleave capability.
Do you have any opinion on best "overall" classes when factoring in both single target and AoE? In TBC, mages, warlocks, and fury warriors dominate (roughly in that order, although it is raid dependent). I'm suspecting a similar story will unfold in Wrath (with exception of warlocks falling off a bit), but am curious to hear your thoughts since I respect your opinion much more than most.
I recently made a script that covers this... the problem is i have made a lot of scripts and not many videos :p

I can tell you that is looks COMPLETELY DIFFERENT then this list and the way I summarized the list was "top 5 most IMPORTANT" classes.

The only thing I feel uncertain about is if the video idea you are discussing is what I was discussing because the word "important" implies that your video idea is about classes that provide the most combined raid utility + dps (e.g: demo lock would be a good fit for this category). I'm focused more on trying to identify which classes / specs are topping the overall dps meters for the entire raid, including trash, regardless of whether they bring utility or not. I would love if you did a video on that some time.

I played an assassin rogue in wrath and at least up to 25 normal ICC there was never anyone who out dps'd me. Not saying I'm the best rogue or that the dps in my guild was a standard to go by....but that was my experience. Not sure if it holds up in 25 ICC heroic.

Man you should rly know that for hunters vrykul from is bis because the agility buff from that form is basically taunka and dwarf form combined since agility is crit and attack power and you have a talent that increase your agility by 4% as a marksman
From what I've seen I'm surprised Blood DK aren't on the top here. Their damage is nuts, especially if they get shadownmourn.
They are alright on some fights like twin valkyr but single target i've seen many more mages, warriors, rogues etc on top over a blood dk on alot of fights, besides that a Blood DK is a very selfish class that doesnt bring any buffs to the raid that you wouldn't have in a good raiding setup.
Blood Dks were pretty bad in terms of dps. DKs on our server on live rarely got shadowmoon anyway, since frost was the dominant dps spec and only a handful of players played unholy.
Blood dks are good for tanking dont hope much on dps

I'dd go warrior, its the easiest one to solo stuff with, it'll make the other characters easier to gear.
Agree completely ferals and enha shapmans have hardest dps rotations but bouth of them have very satisfying little wins as enha you can support your raid group with heals and with feral ressing dead raiders doing so saving the day :) with enha i manage to get to top 5 dps but it was hard as hell

Actually I dislike it, its the worst kind of RNG, mana management is only a thing on RS and LoD, and the squishyness makes it feel punishing to get unlucky.
I recently got myself a mage and it is far more than just fireball once you get more into it. I would even go as far as saying that ttw mage is one of the most skill dependend speccs in the game. properly using spellque, maximizing the time you can cast by positioning smart and only moving during your gcd. properly lining up your internal with external cds and having living bomb explode in the right moment and much much more. I know decent mages who got bis gear and pull like 11k dps on pp hc, while I also know amazing mages who pull 15k+ on the same fight with the same gear. with just spamming fireball and even using pyro proccs you wont get over 8k in bis gear there.
I am talking about warmane lordaeron btw, so take the numbers as 0% buff in icc
@@allylilith5605 Yeah skill is always gonna be taken into consideration, movement, positioning, gcd min maxing, combing cd's with procs, theres alot of ways to inch a little bit ahead of the competition, I still don't like the RNG nature of a TTW, if you compare it with something like a Shadow Priest then the Spriest is more "fun" in my opinion, it cranks all your points up to 11 while not needing any RNG.

Very opinionated. Arcane, shadow, Ret, assassination, and feral (not in that order) did the most damage. There’s many videos of arcane mages doing over 20k dps.
And more of TTW mages doing 24k+ :P

It is but it has some painful RNG inform of the spell hit cap for Pestilence and the Killing machine / Rime procs, if all goes well they have immaculate potential, it just doesnt happen that often.
i think Dk is pretty much like paladin and enchacement shaman, offers some buffs to raid due to how much WoW need to balance pure dps due to utility-dps

Yeah nowadays TTW is better, When I made this list I was still under the assumption FFB was better because on warmane due to several bugs, FFB was better. I'll make some new Top 5 DPS lists soon though, I've got a refreshed opinion about a few things.. and more editing skillz kek
how did u make your whispers on a different tab?
Right click the "General" tab, "Make New Window", Right click that tab and head into "settings", turn of every chat option except Whispers. you should also make it interactive.

Nope, everything in this game is relevant, if those uhdks and fury warriors are trash you've only proven that you play with trash.

I started a week ago as a solo player and I'm having a fucking blast. Economy is mega inflated too, I grabbed mining early on and was able to learn all my flying skills with thousands to spare

Is Arcane mage not that good? I thought it was the top spec in retail wotlk for mages but maybe that's because people didn't know about TTW mage back then.
It's nice for progression but end-game TTW is 100% superiour in every aspect except burst, which arcane can't sustain cause they'll oom :p
TTW mages probably surpasses fury in single target, just maybe, cause i have to admit they have ridiculous single target damage (kinda broken tbh)...however, fury warriors surpasses any other clases in total dps...well it depends on the server ur playing too i guess...
no, mages surpases in all damage, ever seen a fire mage living bomb 20 mobs??? no other class can pull than insane dps. living bomb activates, then its pyro pyro and so on....

@@plutosghost6713 Yeah just because they aren't in the top 5 DPS meta doesn't mean they are useless, they are very very good infact and you need their utility in the raid.
Don't stress about your class not being in the top 5, you should start to worry if your DPS class is in the top 5 worst DPS classes :D

I feel like fury warrior should be top 1 just because you will be top 1 dps in meter in majority of the fight in ICC , and ofcourse top dps in Lk 25hc which is the most important fights imo
Well especially on The Lich King, Mages will have several more million damage done to Lich King specifically, which is the reason i put them as nr 1, Fury warriors can cleave all they want but usually it doesn't directly impact the bosses' health.
AwbeeX57 in that point of view , that’s really true and i get what your trying to say ,but then again someone needs to kill the adds anyway and thats part of the lich king haha
On the same line of thinking, maybe renaming the video is a good idea, because damage done and dps are diferent matters if you are counting only damage to single targets on fights with several aoe targets that need to be killed and a very specific class are espected to be the one cleaving then to the death, and if not.. well mistakes were made.
Especially because on LK fight Fury warriors in a big part of the fight drop the Heroic Strike for Cleave just to help finishing the "trash mobs", and that have a hella big diference on theyr final damage >on the boss< in the end of the encounter, plus all the damage meele classes lose betwen transitions were spell casters with teleport have almost (well... kinda of) no downtime.
Plus, it is not like cleaving the mobs don't have a positive impact on the boss fight, often we hear "aoe the trash bcoz transition this and that bla bla".
Consider those things.

how does ignite work?
everytime you crit with one of ur fire spell, the target gets this debuff, whereas the target takes dmg over time for a few seconds. the amount of dmg is a percentage of ur spell power. if u have optimal crit rate on ur mage, u can keep this debuff up on the target all the time. thats pretty op

Good times…I used to play a troll arcane mage in wrath and was usually always #1 on the charts. PvP was also insanely fun as arcane especially in bgs just 100-0 someone with the insane burst.
@Art Mcrae there's beauty in simplicity. Personally Enh Shaman is the most fun for me but I get tired to track everything down even with addons so I don't play as much as other classes
I'm all for being skilled on a game but when it feels like a chore it ruins the game for me.

I like your "Top tier lists" a lot but as a main PvP player it lacks a Top 5 best specs in PvP on Warmane WoTLK.

I find affliction warlock to be the most complete dps spec in the game, having by far the best toolkit to work with. Great single target, great at cleave (mutidoting, can cleave at range), great at mass aoe, and the best execute in the game. Able to top in every raid scenario.
Scaling is also great (not as broken as ttw mage scaling but still very good).
His only enemy is the threat meter, as he doesn't have good tools for aggro mamagement, and he cant stop dps because dots, and also he has a high skill celling, especialy when 2 or more targets are in play.
He is also very fun, give it a shot.
No, the only thing you get from afflication warlock is some soyboy making problems the whole raid cause hes not getting the perfect ToT or PI when he desires it.
Affli potentially can be good, but human nature deletes any chance for it to be good AND decent.

@@AwbeeX57 sounds like a guild issue. People used to say affli sucks, and I told them he will remain consistently among the top performing specs at classic wotlk. Try and guess who was right. Warmane is not much different, affliction works as intended.
As for the soyboys and bad players, i hope you understand most people have alts, and those affli locks you saw could also be warrior, hunter or rogue mains.
