Like I mentioned in the last video, I'll be taking a break for the foreseeable future. Thank you all again for watching, I'm gonna go backflip thru bricks to "B.O.B."
@justicesellers241 "Quietly" for a legendary rapper because he did like 3 interviews and I didn't stop hearing people talk about it for like a week, lol
it's kinda wild that a group that had so much influence didn't actually have a very big discography...but it also kinda shows that even with less content someone can still have a monumental impact on music by doing things a little differently.
OutKast is my favorite rap group, artist, period. I’m so excited for this ☺️ Edit; Big Boi gets overlooked ALL THE TIME, the dude is just as good of a spitter as André
It's also worth mentioning that André released a 2 track Jazz EP on Mother's Day, going into heartbreaking detail about the passing of his parents on one track, and Jamming out with James Blake on the other
It still amazes me how Outkast's discography hasn't aged one bit. I believe they still have one last album left in them, but I can understand them not making new music together. We are living, however, in the time of Outkastian music, their influence is everywhere, experimental rap, rnb, hip-hop music is currently the forefront of sonic development.
Andre said in interviews that hip-hop needed to evolve to survive, and it did. I think he was about 10 years early for that evolution, but hey... Also, just for full disclosure, I'm not much of a hip-hop fan, I'm more of a rock/metal/experimental guy, but I've always had huge respect for Outkast. They made their own music, their own way
Maybe one day, a good few years from now, they'll decide to go back into the studio one last time to give their discography a satisfying ending, like Tribe's final album.
Aphex Twin would be pretty great! I'm sure you're aware, but just in case you aren't I would highly suggest checking out Deep Cut's dive into Aphex Twin's discography!
Fredi Garcia i’ve seen it! oliver always does a wonderful job with his deep cuts artist guides and that was no exception. i’d love to see mic dive more into the history and add his own humor and insight into aphex’s music though
Outkast is a once in a lifetime type of group who gave us the best music of our lifetime for generations to come. Besides, I almost forgot about Andre 3000 solo EP songs about his passing of his parents. At least, The Love Below is his own solo album as OutKast. They builded a brotherhood that will last a lifetime. We never heard them argue or fight against each other. They have disagreements just like everybody else. Big Boi released 3 solo albums by far, and Andre 3000 still acting and doing well so far. We won’t ever see them back together as a duo ever again, but we definitely won’t see Andre release a solo album anytime soon. I experienced my first OutKast concert in my college year and I loved every bit of it when they had Ludacris there also. Thanks
Maaan “The Love Below” has GEMS towards the end. “Behold a Lady”, ESPECIALLY “Pink & Blue”, “Love in War”, “Dracula’s Wedding”, “Take Off Your Cool”, “Vibrate” are some of the most beautiful songs ever. Although I agree about “My Favorite Things”, "A Life in the Day of Benjamin André” is fire despite being unfinished.
A life in the day of andre is the best track on the second half of the love below. From behold a lady to vibrate it feels like hard baked ideas. Cool songs but they don't hit as hard
Agreed. The only one I skip from time to time is "Behold a Lady", but the rest is fire, just like the whole album. Never understood why people didn't appreciate the second half.
The song "Hey Ya" was originally titled "Thank God for Mom and Dad", from the line "Thank God for Mom and Dad for sticking together, cause we don't know how". It's a legitimately sad song dressed up as a happy song. The song is supposed to be about couples in the 50s sticking together because of tradition despite their love being dead. It ends up being way ahead of it's time, as social commentary on the state of modern relationships and how marriage and commitment are rare these days, as well as a 50% diovorce rate. Hey Ya is a masterpiece but for all the reasons people don't know. Learning all of this really changed my perspective, and now I feel melancholy and sadness when I hear it. "Y'all don't hear me you just wanna dance" as people happily dance to the beat. Also worth noting : This song singlehandedly started the revival of Polaroid Picture cameras. Polaroid was completely dead and this sond brought it back and now women use these a lot, as a retro way of taking pictures.

So far no dislikes, guys! Mike's genius is appreciated as it should be! Also I'd think adding MF DOOM to the poll would be good, since his discography is literally one of the best in hip hop, next to ye, outkast and kendrick
Andre’s 2018 EP Look Ma No Hands is severely under appreciated, an absolute delight if anyone’s not already gave it a go - fantastic work as always my man!

Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik is one of the best hip-hop albums that dropped in the 90s (would land in my Top 10). Absolutely fantastic from front to back.
great call on aquemini being their best though stankonia was my doorway in and love below perfect for a prince fan like myself. i saw them on the reunion tour at bestival and they were really great, the audience were not ready for the depth and variety of their catalog - in an era where people would only ignite their interests for the chart smashes and some even go to the back until the next. the last truly classic hiphop act for my tastes. I know it's unlikely but a new album from them or d'angelo would cause me to lose my ice cold.
As always, this rules. Hope you enjoy your well deserved rest! Gonna go listen to their verses on "Int'l Players Anthem" while watching a supercut of André flute sightings.
Their reunion tour ended in Atlanta. I went to the first show & they admitted they should’ve started the tour in Atlanta where the crowd would’ve inspired them more than the festival crowds
Big Boi worked with the Atlanta Ballet to put on a show with him performing and the ballet company dancing. It was the most interesting mash up of two seemingly disparate art styles I've seen. It was fantastic in every way and a beautiful display of local art performed in the historic Fox Theater by and for the people of his home town. I love checking out anything these guys do. It might not always be my taste but it's always interesting and that's why I've enthusiastically followed their careers.
I’m sure this is a common suggestion, but I just gotta see that Beatles deep discog dive. I need confirmation that I’m not crazy for thinking sgt. peppers is lower-tier beatles.

Live instrumentation was bananas, and I still backflip through bricks thinking about BOB. Love your stuff, enjoy your break, and check out James Blake’s cover of Godspeed if you haven’t already!
Have you not heard Andre's two tracks with James Blake that he released last year? They're really out of left field (of course) but both fantastic in their way.

I'd love to see a DDD on King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. I've been a huge fan of theirs for a couple years now, and I'd love to hear your take on their monster discography. Love your videos man!! Enjoy your well deserved break!

2) Obviously, enjoy your break, well earn't
and
3) Well, you did say "leave suggestions in the comments" so...kiiiinda hoping to get a vid on The Clash in the future so that's mine! x) (Mostly 'cause I wanna know where best to start on their good albums and errr, I wanna see more people's thoughts on "Cut the Crap", haha)
Green Day would work really well:they have wide appeal,,they have a long and varied discography(good and mediocre),and they have 2 albums that are considered to be some of the greatest rock albums of all time.
About Andre's solo project post-Outkast: he released a jazz/soul Mixtape named Look Ma No Hands dedicated to his mother
Prototype is one of their very best and Da Art of StoryTelling is another one.
I can't believe Farrah Fawcett Hair wasn't mentioned on the Andre 3000 solo projects, what a banger.
Love the work, learned a lot!
I'd love to see a DDD on King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. I've been a huge fan of theirs for a couple years now, and I'd love to hear your take on their monster discography. Love your videos man!! Enjoy your well deserved break!
I always say Andre is my "favorite" rapper ever. It's difficult to ever argue he's in the greatest discussion without ever being a successful solo act. But for me, I love his sound and what he goes for as an artist.
My all time Favorite group!
Wonderful duo with great albums.
Aaahhh.. the classics
Mac Miller when you get back
Aquemini is the one for me...i love that album!!
ATLiens is the best Outkast album to me, the perfect chill out music.
OutKast is my favorite rap band
