With the offensive line the way it is on passing plays what would REALLY open up the entire offensive is quick release passes, like how Alex Smith got the ball out in 2.5 seconds or less in prior years, it would keep the defenses guessing, open up the middle of the feild, run game & deep ball
I'm literally kind of depressed about all of these Chiefs injuries. It's the fact that I had such high hopes coming into this year, combined with how it happened.. Hollywood goes down on the FIRST SNAP - then my favorite player, Pacheco, gets his leg broken... THEN Mahomes accidentally kneecaps Rice... it's awesome to have Juju and Hunt back, but that doesn't make up for what this team could have been. This defense is absolutely elite, and I expected to have an offense to match. For the first time in the Mahomes era, we would have a 100% complete team - and then *injuries happened...* That said - I'm still excited for the season, and have full confidence in the Chiefs.

Elevate some practice squad guys and see what you have in them. If they cant cut it, you know to let them go this season or the offseason. If they ball, you know to keep them on and give them a bigger role in the next year.
Chase Daniels did a break down a few weeks back talking a bit about the KC blocking. Between the tackle play and the RBs missing blocking assignments, it does have Mahomes uncomfortable in the pocket. The RB blocking at least, should get better.
If Jawaan Taylor warms the bench Mahomes has ZERO protection!! The LT’s are not blocking great and that is Mahomes blind spot so Taylor just needs to work on the pre-snap penalties which is an easy fix and we’re good there! Still need a solid LT though!

Watson is accurate , Gray is reliable & Zay is accelerated plus still learning with this miraculous circle bring a young WR Vet in that knows the NFL protocols, that would put the K into the KINGDOM!!! The main issue with the Oline are the instant pressures, as in, the plays where an Olineman, particularly tackles, is INSTANTLY beaten and you have a free rusher charging full throttle at the QB. Those are plays that are not only a sack, but a fumble waiting to happen. And I think that Mahomes is overly conscious about it. When he gets the snap, even if he is not actively looking for it, he is allocating a lot of his attention to the pass rush waiting for the quick loss. That on the bright side means that he is rarely getting sacked, but he is not operating the offense as intended and leaving a lot of plays out there. All that said, coaching has a lot to do with it. In the 2022 AFCCG, when Mahomes was fresh from his high ankle sprain and could barely move, the Chief ls chipped or outright doubled on the outside in basically EVERY.SINGLE.PLAY. For whatever reason this year Andy Reid and his staff decided this year that their tackles are Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata and therefore they need zero help.
They need to get Jared Wiley more involved. Have him line up on the left side and hit these edge rushers in the mouth. That will at least slow down the rush from Mahomes' blind side
The Niners backup RB is starting to ball and they actually have a WR1a and WR1b. KC has a bunch of WR3s. I'm a lifelong KC fan but I'm picking SF in this one.

To think back on the summer where you could see Mahomes work and train with Hollywood, Rice and Worthy. Looking so enthusiastic, locked in. It is such a bad feeling that we didn’t even get to see a start of the season where they played together, and could show what they had planned for the offense. It just sort of got drowned in injury after injury. And now it feels like, no, not another season where they lean on ”Mahomes have to adjust to having no WR” and add to that, a clear issue with him not looking secure or great with his left tackle, looking uncomfortable to trust that side. But hey, still 5-0. So I guess you can still have hope, and pray they get some solution for the offense with a good addition.
Interesting bit... Taylor is also 12th Best overall OT in the NFL per ESPN in win rate percentage and tied for 10th best in Pass Blocking Win percentage. Never put a lot of stock in a lot of PFF grades because they tend to be all over the place a lot of times. Just food for thoughts. Sure, Taylor gets a ton of penalties, but even Creed has struggled weirdly this season. Taylor might be strangely enough our best Pass Blocking O Lineman period as far as win rate. Hard to pay someone that much to just trade and give more draft capital /money for who's winning for you. Might have to live with the penalties this season. But he's RT. Doesn't help us at LT.

Red Zone play calling is the major problem. They can and still do win but a lot of these games are closer because of all of the field goals. Love Butker but they need to score TDs to make these games not close and give the guys some mop up time...

So, the Chiefs are running cross and mesh pass plays to the sideline 30% or so of the time because they have no one WR yet that can break the one on one. That was supposed to be Hollywood. They need that guy and should do all they can to trade and get him. Solution without that guy in the short run: Perfect the good old play action since they are running more, get it out quick, keep the defense wondering and on their toes. A few deep Worthy with Play action would really open things up and no body better than Maholmes and Worthy to do it. More passes in the seam in the middle of the field as well. It can also take some pressure off Tackles in pass protection. These are ideas Andy may try but he is the best NFL coach of all time so he will design plays within plays and save totally new things for the playoffs. It is just fun to speculate and see what he does. Andy always takes the best of the players he has and perfects.
With all due respect this is horrible news about Rice and how this may affect his career now after this injury. I honestly would hate to have somebody’s career on my conscience although it was such a huge accident. Prayers for Rice and his recovery as well as everyone that is injured at this time. I'm skeptical that bringing someone in from the outside will bear fruit this season. Demarcus Robinson would be a nice guy to have but man vs zone isn't supposed to make that much difference from the 5yd line. Rams at 1-4 might do a deal though? Pringle would probably be better against man but Washington has a good view of the playoffs so unsure what he would cost? Sam Watkins doesn't appear to be that interested in football at this time and would take a while to get into shape. I'm not convinced we really need to get anyone but we are asking a lot of Mahomes. We fix all the other problems and our QB/WR/TE room(s) will get it done. We did convert a 2nd and 34 after all.

Ik this a lot to read, but tell me if you approve Cole.. Maybe Cooper is the most logical for right now.. But we have to think about the future! Tee Higgins is a free agent next year.. At only 25 years-old, I think we should save some cap room to acquire him. He’s an established WR1 and gives Mahomes something he’s never really had in the NFL, a 50-50 jumpball receiver! I’m sure the Bengals wouldn’t trade him to us, but we should give them a call at least! I would be glad to trade a 1st round pick to him, considering it’d be almost like an early 2nd round pick since we always make deep playoff runs! Wouldn’t hurt to try.. He will probably make 27-28M per year based on his production.. But I’d think that’ll be a steal, especially since he’d finally have a real multi MVP/SB winning QB throwing him the ball!

So, the Chiefs are running cross and mesh pass plays to the sideline 30% or so of the time because they have no one WR yet that can break the one on one. That was supposed to be Hollywood. They need that guy and should do all they can to trade and get him. Solution without that guy in the short run: Perfect the good old play action since they are running more, get it out quick, keep the defense wondering and on their toes. A few deep Worthy with Play action would really open things up and no body better than Maholmes and Worthy to do it. More passes in the seam in the middle of the field as well. It can also take some pressure off Tackles in pass protection. These are ideas Andy may try but he is the best NFL coach of all time so he will design plays within plays and save totally new things for the playoffs. It is just fun to speculate and see what he does. Andy always takes the best of the players he has and perfects.
With all due respect this is horrible news about Rice and how this may affect his career now after this injury. I honestly would hate to have somebody’s career on my conscience although it was such a huge accident. Prayers for Rice and his recovery as well as everyone that is injured at this time. I hope and pray that this injury doesn’t affect his career. LETS GO CHIEFS ❤

Ik this a lot to read, but tell me if you approve Cole.. Maybe Cooper is the most logical for right now.. But we have to think about the future! Tee Higgins is a free agent next year.. At only 25 years-old, I think we should save some cap room to acquire him. He’s an established WR1 and gives Mahomes something he’s never really had in the NFL, a 50-50 jumpball receiver! I’m sure the Bengals wouldn’t trade him to us, but we should give them a call at least! I would be glad to trade a 1st round pick to him, considering it’d be almost like an early 2nd round pick since we always make deep playoff runs! Wouldn’t hurt to try.. He will probably make 27-28M per year based on his production.. But I’d think that’ll be a steal, especially since he’d finally have a real multi MVP/SB winning QB throwing him the ball!
