I am autistic as well, my family members thinks I do not like socializing at my school because I'm autistic, however people think I am a normal person (and they get really shocked when I say I'm autistic, because I act and think nearly exactly like them). However the reason I don't socialize a lot is a simple reason. I am british and I moved to France, and I don't speak French, so of course I would not socialize if I don't speak the language.

Yay go Hollie this needs to be put out there more about the assumptions and stereotypes around Autism that have come from media and films like rain man we need more real.life role models like yourself speaking out on the realities how living with Autism to educate these ignorant people all the points you have made are so true so spot on! And most of them are rubbish I've found though that even professionals in Autism still look for their stereotypical traits to make a diagnosis which baffles me! My eldest son is so like you with emotions and like you I've read that its over sensitivity, worrying, over thinkinh and masking is presented in girls more but my son definitely fits this profile too I live watching your videos so raw and real! You do have a special ability your doing it right now you are navigating your way into becoming an advocate and voice for other youngsters with autism not everyone could do that and it's a step.in the right direction to making your dream of becoming a social worker come true those that choose that career have to be pretty special and have empathy andyiu will be amazing as life experience helps and yiubhave had your own life experience that no neurotypical person has so wouldn't be able to identify with you are going to go on to help so many people in your life and future o just know it there's your special ability 🥰

Thankyou so much! Comments like this really made me smile, I really hope I’ll be able to be a social worker one day, as I really love helping people. I too think many people should watch these videos even neurotypical people as it can bring as much awareness to autism as possible and not just the version of autism that’s broadcasted in the media! :)

Well done Hollie, I have found your videos fascinating. Informative for any parent of a child growing up with autism but also helpful for teenagers to better understand a friend with autism.

I think I’ve just found my new favourite Aspie UA-camr. I will subscribe but I can fully relate specifically on the friend thing. Except I don’t find small talk boring cause I don’t stick to the convention like I just answer the questions honestly like if I’m not good I’ll tell you otherwise it’s a waste of time to lie (only if I know them though)

Great content, but I would like to clarify that "savant syndrome" is not mutually exclusive with autism. In fact, a great deal of savants are also autistic. That is all, I enjoyed your video :)

My daughter Courtney is 23 and knows tons of words , just learning to make sentences, I've always believed if she had a best friend iwho is verbal or a peer buddy who is that she might start to talk if confident.
Note my son is high functioning and verbal however he has no close friends either.
He graduated from high school but is not able to work, doesn't seem to place a value on money or a need for it. A bit of a disconnect there sugestions?
