Imagine its 1995 and you had only played sega genesis era games before you got a Sega Saturn with the 3 included games, Nights into Dreams and the bootleg sampler. You pop the sampler in and boot this game up only to be greeted by this glorious song and intro. If you could have seen my 11 year old face... i was in awe and filled with wonderful amazement that a game could come with this level of production and overall presentation. This still is one of the top 5 intros to any game, period.
Just ordered this game off Ebay, so I'll be experiencing this 25+ plus years after you. Lol. The first game holds up so well and this one looks to be even better.
That was me in the late 90's. All the included demo discs and the bootleg sampler were everything to me. Obviously I didn't have many game to choose from at that time, but it was still a blast.
sega freaking nailed it with the salsa in here, i have this on loop, i love it so much (the game too, it's very underrated and thats sad cus i feel like it needs more love)
Clockwork Knight 2 is so good... I'm a bit whelmed by the first one, but the second one is cream of the crop, the ability to configure your controls helps it a lot and makes the quality of the game's general gameplay stand out that much more. Granted I did cheat at Soltia's roulette, but lives systems are annoying lol
Dude, the Saturn was a powerful machine. Especially when the 4mb ram cartridge was added. System could do things the Playstation only dreamed of. Sucks, it just couldn't keep up with the onslaught of video game library the PSX had.
Not many modern games have this level of heart anymore and I'm sure part of it is nostalgia for me, but the music from this and Nights into Dreams really make me feel something .
They realy try hard on the sound design of there game im actualy impressed that they use to record a full salsa band for a crazy game like that, same for the sonic team and the Amazing Night in to the dream soundtrack, they want you to feel that there machine change an era 32 bit and CD support make those Magic possible, it liberat the possibility for music game composer !
@@clockworkknightwebIf I recall correctly the developers based the visual colorful style on the Mickey Mania game; but it also reminds me with the variety of toys, its color palette and its “save the princess” plot of the Raggedy Ann and Andy 70s movie, although I’m aware that it wasn’t a mainstream smash hit like Toy Story
@@albertoandroidain Mickey Mania was one of the inspirations for this game, mainly some of the techniques used in parts of the game. That said, Jon Burton outright admitted that CK was the inspiration for the Toy Story game.
The Sega from the Saturn era is long gone. The current Sega is a totally different kind of company with different developers and management. Only way we could get a new Clockwork Knight is if an indie company decides to do one. Let's hope.
The intros do a lot to endear me to these games. Sure, Clockwork Knight's gameplay is fun on its own merits, but all this extra effort and fanfare shows how much the devs cared. There's not a speck of cynicism to be found here.
Great song, but I always wondered who was singing. It's clearly not someone whose first language is English, because they're mispronouncing a lot of words. I assume it's someone Japanese trying to sound Latin while singing mostly in English, which is really funny and interesting.
Look up the lyrics to the song. It's all right there. Don't quote me on this but....She's basically talking about the friends that are on stage, does a rollcall a few times. And talks about how Pepperchaou (the gold knight) is still vying for the affection of Chelsea, the pianist who got kidnapped in the 1st game. She comes out in the morning to start the day and that caused all the toys to wake up. If they didn't return her before the morning, the toys would all like....die. So they're happy and stuff until she got kidnapped again (in the intro). So Pepper must go and get her again. Soltia apparently has a crush on Pepperchaou but Pepper's an idiot and can't see it.
Not sure. I just recently started getting into the first game and haven't played this one yet. It's a platformer, but the lore is pretty interesting too, isn't it?
The blue doll would always sing for all the toys. But the evil toys kidnap her since they can't hear her song. Our homeboy and silver knight embark to save her.
I remember I had the demo to this game on the Saturn. I used just play it to see this intro 😄
It's worth watching over and over~
@@clockworkknightweb indeed it is 😁
Me too
I had the demo with this and the baseball game on it lol
@@staceyworkman1274 oh yeah the one where you just try to hit home runs?

Never thought that in 1995, a Sega video game would do an intro with Salsa music that can rival to the best of “El Grupo Niche”
This blew my mind as a kid.

This takes me back to Christmas 1996 when I got my Sega Saturn! It was on the Bootleg Demo disk! I would play that first level over and over!
The salsas on point. This brings me back.
I feel like I'm 5 years old again, whenever I see this intro. :)
One of the best openings in any video game, ever.
what really amazed me was they started 3d style platforming games around the time i was growing up

This game and sound was ahead of its time, Sega out of all gaming companies makes the best in game songs
This game was so bizarre. I never even got to play the whole thing, just the Sega Bootlegger demo of it.
Best thing on that Sega bootleg sampler.
Games need more salsa
I only had the demo but this intro makes me think this is sega's IP to rival toy story
The original Clockwork Knight in Japan preceeded the release of Toy Story by 11 months, but I can see why someone would think this. :)
I saw in like 2018 the toy story genesis developer admitted to using clockwork knight as inspiration on how to make 3d effects on genesis
@@alienantifafarmthat makes sense. They play almost exactly the same.

Fucking SEGA and their toy story keyblade adventures......man SEGA should rerelease this or make a sequel or something

Ahh the *Demo Disc* era❤❤❤
It's not everyday you year a Japanese woman sing a samba in broken English 😂
As a kid, i could never get past the library bosses, lol.
Now as an adult maybe you can!
Did anyone actually play the full game, or just the bootleg sampler?
Sample demo still fun owning that SS SEGA SATURN

This predates Toy Story
That is correct.
Yes indeed, by like a year.
Is it possible to reupload the intro with HD clarity pls?
Given that the original video was not in HD, it's pointless.
