Great video, Michael. If we compare the last 5 years to the last 50 years, the opportunities as well as the competition in the last 5 years were much bigger than in the last 50. Many big companies, as well as individual brands, are losing their business because they lack vision and innovation, like Invision and Nokia. It's a big lesson for us to keep learning new technologies and challenging ourselves. That's why I'm a huge fan of Webflow, Figma, and Notion because they are shipping so many valuable and significant features.
Great mindset Hadi! It’s so important for designers to have one like yours because that’s how you become valuable within teams and businesses! #WinnerMindset
Great video and analysis of the fall of Invision Michael. Reminds me of a saying by Gary Vaynerchuk when it comes to cultivating an innovative mindset: "Putting yourself out of business is better than allowing someone else to do it."
@@Mizko Hello ! it is me again. I hope this message finds you well. I recently purchased the Shipfaster UI (v2.6) through your platform, and I must say I'm excited about integrating it into my design project. However, I've encountered an issue regarding access to the features. Upon clicking on the Figma file after the purchase, I was directed to Figma (Shipfaster UI -v2.6 (live)), where I promptly submitted a request to gain access to the product's features, such as buttons and more, for use in my own design project. Regrettably, I haven't received any response or access thus far. I wanted to bring this to your attention in the hopes of resolving the matter promptly. If there's any additional information required from my end or if there's a specific process I should follow, please do let me know. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I appreciate your assistance in ensuring a smooth and efficient resolution. Looking forward to your guidance.
Freehand also won't last too long as a FigJam competitor. Right now the only factor that's keeping that tool alive is that they've been acquired by Miro.
ProtoPie will eventually have their market share taken away from them if they just focus on high-fidelity prototyping. The real differentiator they have is the OS engine emulation. Aside from that, Figma's prototyping capabilities are catching up quick. So it will be interesting to see how ProtoPie navigates their next steps. Framer caught up very early on and aggressively pivoted to no code web building a few years ago.
ProtoPie doesn't have the backing and resources to innovate at the rate that Figma does. Recently Dylan, the CEO of Figma announced major updates to their Dev Tools. The essentially confirms that Figma are looking laterally at developers along with designers in terms of their. collaboration features (something ProtoPie cannot accomplish currently).
Ummm, horrible advice. DO PUT ALL EGGS IN ONE BASKET when you are starting out. Don't compare Invision that has already made millions that could actually diversify and say thats what people starting out shoould do. That's not how Invision got success, they put all eggs in one basket - the fact they LATER coudln't capitalise on this, and had all eggs in one basket was a mistake.

Thanks Ray! Word!
You can clip that microphone to your shirt; it has a built-in clip.
You're very observant.
inVision shutting is the most heartbreaking thing I heard some days ago 😢
It was long due though
Loved it. Thanks, Mizko :)
Any invision alternatives? I have people still using it for demos.
I'm curious to see how long it would be for Marvel to follow in InVision's steps.
I totally forgot about Marvel 😅

Makes me wonder about Protopie, its a prototyping tool but perhaps being way more expansive it will be around a lot longer?

make more of these please
Let's goooo! I'm glad you enjoyed this :) I like talking about this stuff
Summary for both businesses and designers - Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
or else 🍳

Invision was super buggy even 4 year ago and did not have feature parity with even XD, let alone Figma

I loved Invision, its unfortunate that they are going away.
Success was short lived!
Unfortunately, the vision on Invision had become short-sided and self-sufficient, from when they were pioneers, to reaching the dustpan...
Ouch!
