- A little about a little town in South Dakota, USA. The tiny town of Butler is home to The Dog House-a welcome refuge from the sweltering midday sun after traveling South Dakota's long, dusty, nearly-treeless rural roads.

Is there more? My Dad grew up in Butler. I stopped there in July 2019 while I was in S.D. for a family re-union that was held just outside of Waubay.
My understanding is that my grandfather operated that building as a General Store in the 1940's. Tom and Hazel were my grandparents, but I think they left Butler in the mid '50's. My Great Grandfather was George the mail carrier. He died in '64. His wife was Minnie who died in '76.
I wonder if we saw you...? I (we) have TONS of video and photos I've taken on these trips!! I'm slow to process some of my stuff... Stay tuned, I have more. If you are so inclined, we usually go on a yearly trip to Butler and surrounding areas on the Highway 12 Road Trip Photography Workshop (more info at www.iceboxminnesota.com). You should join us! Also, the road-trippers are showing their work Feb 1-May 30, 2020 at the Icebox. Opening reception on Feb 1, 2020 7pm--maybe you could join us?
