Winning talent shows is somewhat limiting becauseof the contracts they have to sign. Finishing the second maneskin got the best possible deal out of the show.
I think exposure is the best when it comes to these TV music contests. After all these years, our Australian TV contestants here have been stuck in a contract that has them surrounded by "writers" and "composers" that restrict the artists' creative freedom. They just end up being the face of sub-standard songs that's mostly the work of background "music" teams. The artists that eventually get out of their contract and continue making their own songs, those songs sound better, in my opinion
@omtakes exactly! The only thing that is important in all this shows is the number of appearances on the national TV! And maneskin got the absolute maximum out of it. And as a huge bonus was the public sympathy (people often talk / write/ comment/ complain under the videos of almost winners more that they do about actual winners).
Don't think they hated him but yeah, they were a bit harsh on him in the beginning, as the show progressed they kind of made up for it. Guess it was for the sake of the show... Reality shows tend to ask for drama...

Guess all talent shows end up removing a bit of your essence for the sake of the show. Even though I love them, I'd say the same about their songs in English...
