This song was recorded in 1965. Bob Dylan is probably the most important single figure in music from the 1960s. He has won the Nobel Prize for literature for his songwriting and is still touring and recording at the age of 83.

Why limit Dylan to the 60’s. He is the most important musical figure of modern times and still going strong artistically. Hard stop.

@@alanbrown8527 Absolutely! I said "from" the 60s. As you say, he's the most important artist of our times, and Rough and Rowdy Ways from 2020 was one of his finest

Island Girl, you probably know the We Are the World video from 1985? USA for Africa and all that. Well, when you look at that collection of music stars circa 1985, the most important person in the room by FAR is Bob Dylan. If you listen to Bob Dylan, even if the lyrics are sometimes hard to comprehend for what he is meaning, he will become part of your soul. On the other hand, his famous folk songs with clear, easily understandable lyrics about social justice, will totally amaze you. You will be shocked at how much wisdom could come from one young man in so few words.

So what are the famous folk songs with easily understandable lyrics? There are many but Blowin' in the Wind and The Times They Are A-Changing are the first two to start with.

Masters of war, lonesome death of hattie carrol, only a pawn in their game. These are only from the early 60’s when he was very young. He has written over 500 songs. In mid 60’s changed from acoustic folk music to electric and his folk fans weren’t happy.

Check out his Subterranean Homesick Blues. It was recorded in 1965 and really is proto rap music.

Island Girl, you may not have known of him, but he is widely considered the greatest songwriter of the past 60 years. Along with the Beatles, he’s had the greatest influence on folk-rock and rock music of them all. His rabbit hole is well over 500 songs deep, and filled with scores of masterpieces as good or better than this, a song which changed rock drastically in an instant. This song/album was released in 1965. I recommend that, just for starters, you begin with these songs and all from the original album recordings: Blowin’ in the Wind, The Times They are A-Changin’, A Hard Rain’s a Gonna Fall, Mr. Tambourine Man, Every Grain of Sand, Only a Pawn in Their Game, The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll, Forever Young, Hurricane and Boots of Spanish Leather. This only scratches the surface, but these will provide you a glimpse of the range and brilliance of his catalogue. Thanks for the enjoyable reaction.

Best to be able to read the lyrics as you go along. Also good to do some research on him and his songs.

I don't know much about Bob Dylan myself, and I was born in 1961. I only heard his name. I didn't pay much attention to his music. Actually, it's not bad. I liked this video. 😊❤

Not bad? Not bad at all i would say. This song defined rock music and changed the course of popular music forever. Bob Dylan stands in contemporary popular music like Jackson Pollock stands in contemporary painting art (i'm just quoting here but i humbly completely agree).

I believe Cher did a version of this, in the 60s too. Can imagine Springsteen singing this. 😊

Hey my beautiful lady, as the last Paolo Nutini song was a hit with you, I thought I would recommend another one from the same venue but this time it is 2 songs in one video.
In between the two songs you also get to hear his lovely Scottish accent in the short interview in the middle.
