  • The tense post-war relations between Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union escalate into an open conflict in 1948, as Tito rejects Stalin's demands, leading to an ousting of Communist Party of Yugoslavia from Cominform, an economic blockade and political isolation. Internal purges in Yugoslavia target pro-Soviet elements, resulting in thousands being sent to labor camps or emigrating. Despite the pressures, Tito strengthens Yugoslavia's global standing with U.S. aid and modern weapons, establishing Yugoslavia as a rival communist state. The split marks a turning point in the Cold War and challenges Soviet dominance over the Eastern Bloc, setting the stage for the Non-Aligned Movement.

Some criminals quarreled with other criminals, although they had previously fought together against subsequent criminals. This is the beauty of world politics.
