Having worked in the Pro-Audio Industry (Solid State Logic 1980-87 and then freelance), I realised how easy it was to record a duplicate stereo tape elsewhere in the studio so, am not that surprised that Clive managed to do that. Glad that it seemed to turn out ok in the end.
It is how people try and explain what they want a drummer to do. You are going "um cha, um cha, um chah, ba boom" the the poor drummer is going "what?". They are trying to get the drummer to do "Dubah, dubah, dubah, cha, but on different drums" and it's getting late. Spinal Tap tried to recreate this with a guitar overdub.
