Smoky Mountains National Park | A Fly Fishing Story

  • This summer I went on my first backpacking trip, which just happened to also be a solo trip. We hiked 7 miles deep into Smoky Mountains National Park, camped overnight, and fished our way out the next day. I came back home that night, just to turn around the next day to head back to the mountains for some more fishing.
It was a selfmade adventure that I will never forget.

I’m always learning with fly fishing too. I like to video myself and pick out the key points of success. Thanks for sharing. Great video!

Amazing nature! Last year bought a fly fishing set. When Ukraine won in war I started my fly fishing journey.

Fish upstream and in those deeper pockets at the base of the falls
Trout in streams are looking upstream right at you wading down to them!

I like the video. It's very realistic and truthful. I'm a decent bass fisherman (spinrods) but a novice fly fisherman. As a weekend hobbyist, getting skunked when you're fishing for bass happens frequently on big lakes, even with the best equipment and fish finders. I fly fish in larger rivers throughout Arkansas. I'd imagine wading small streams is challenging. I'm learning to just enjoy the experience and the time fishing, even if they aren't biting much. I'm glad you had a fun trip.

Love the video! Been fishing for years but only recently started fly fishing. I’ve caught everything under the sun…….except trout. Got a few trips planned for the fall to some good trout spots, hoping to break the curse lol.

Kudo's. Nice story told via v. steady lens work and narrative, self-deprecating humor, competent fly fishing, and barely self-contained enthusiasm in a stunning area of the country. Winning formula in my book. I'm subscribed and will be looking for more. Good luck; you're obviously a talented guy.

New sub, as a creator myself, less music is better, but otherwise a very good video. Looking forward to your next video.

Ty[ocal GSMNP fishing. 90 percent of what few fish are in any of those streams are in 10 percent of the water. Hardly worth the effort if catching fish is the goal. Lots of better options outside the park. The last part of the video where you actually caught fish I am not sure is even on or anywhere near the GSMNP.. At least not any place I have been on the park and Ive been all over it trying to catch one of the THREE fish left there. Note to author. It not lack of skill that is the problem in that park,, its lack of fish.
