Im a o/o at Landstar. I can't really say anything negative about them. They helped a lot of drivers start up a trucking business. They've been a honest company to me so far. The percentages... they're ok, I'm not complaining but the road doesn't end at Landstar. This is why I like trucking because there's opportunities every where out here. There's always something better. You can take your trucking business where ever you want. Good luck and nice truck!

At the end of the day, it's about your bottom line and I really appreciated how you didn't burn the bridges with your former employer by telling us the positives you took away from it. Looking forward to seeing where this refrigerated trucking takes you. PS: If you're going to be working northern regions, pack extra blankets and get yourself anything waterproof in case you have to work in the snow.
It's cool that you found something else to do. I believe the 35% isn't as bad as people make it because of everything Landstar does, but that's just my opinion. I'm currently networked with a few agents that allow me to make 9k a week and home every other day. I have zero intentions of leaving because of it.
At the end of the day you are running a business. Only you can find what works for you and what doesn't.

Most good companies only take 10 percent with your trailer. I run 8 months a year grossed 300k net after fuel and insurance was 190 k

@@brz1968 landstar isn’t a bad place they do a lot of things for you like ability to drop and hook and they got good tire and fuel discounts but I’d rather make 8-9k after the company takes they money then go to landstar and be left with 6500 net off of 10k gross.

I have my authority. I run truly independent. I run what I want with who I want. I'm not leased on. People got to remember in that % they take off it covers lawyers if someone tries to sue, environmental costs if you wreck, covers tow bills, etc, etc,. I ain't Tellin you what to do AK. Run what you want with whom you want. I didn't think of all those costs I the worse case scenario happens. Till a other authority guy I know who was lease on wrecked and he showed me all the bills and fees and that. I realize where that 15-35% can go in a hurry. Maybe check wit them if those costs are covered by you or them when leased on. It's great knowledge to have before it happens.

I'm happy for you man I'm a local driver pulling refer and I respect the heck out of you owner ops your the ones that get the product to us and then we get it the last little leg out to the shelves but your the ones racking up the expenses and miles. I don't think I could be out the road as long as yall. Appreciate what you guys do!

Bro keep doing you. Ive been driving local the last 3 yrs,i have an interview to go OTR with a company in February. Reason being is a better opportunity for me and my wife to live the way we want too. Also you’ve inspired me to grind and g my own truck. Watching you the last couple years and watching what you’ve become is the reason why us younger and newer drives love the driving game. Thanks again and keep it up! Love the videos and can’t wait to see where this next step takes you and your rig.

Hi AK. I wish you all the best! You are the only person that knows best for you. Landstar doesn’t work for everyone. Luckily I found a great situation with five awesome agents that keeps me busy as much as I want. I almost left twice after my 2nd and 5th year so I know where you are coming from. Take care and be safe. I will still follow your adventures.

Landstar's a learning experience in preparation for getting your own authority or running for a "like minded" company where you can self dispatch. I was there almost 3 years, definitely agree with you about the "foreign" agents and the double (dipping) booking which is annoying as hell. Couldn’t agree with you more. I left in August, it became hard to swallow for the same reasons mostly. Even with my own trailer I probably was giving them 50k a year…no more. Best of luck I know you will be successful.

Trucking is tough, money is always an issue, I have a lot of respect for owner operators. Myself I'm not that good with books. My 40+ years driving, I got a pension with Healthcare, still driving, home every night, M-F about 1K a week.

Just my opinion and my observation I have been watching you for sometime now and to me you never really came across as a heavy driver you know coast-to-coast staying out for weeks in months now all the sudden you gonna leave Landstar to run C to C for the money and reefer gang, hope it all works out for you man

The big thing is, what works for someone else may not work for you and vice versa. Keep on keepin on. That's one of the big complaints I have as well, is the agents. Half the time you can't understand them, they tell you to give them 10 minutes to call you back because they have to call the customer and more than half of them never call you back at all. But the money I'm making, I'm comfortable with. Could I make more somewhere else, always, but so far I'm doing alright. Good luck on your next venture man, your truck looks completely different from when I first started watching and it's looking pretty slick.

You did the right thing brother the company I’m with only takes 14 percent and I pull their wagon and truck averages 11 to 14 grand a week
